Churchtown Manor Guesthouse is located 15 minutes from the village of Intercourse, in the heart of Amish Country. Staying at Churchtown Manor is an opportunity to experience a peaceful Mennonite farm with Amish farms all around.
Churchtown Manor was formerly an Amish farm which was purchased by the owners great-grandparents in 1937. The farmhouse was built in the 1800's and has been remodeled recently. The Guesthouse was originally built for the owners grandfather after his son got married and took over the farm. The apartment has since been occupied by the owners parents as well.
Among the Amish and Mennonites, attached apartments like the Guesthouse are commonly known as the 'Dawdy House'. ('Dawdy' is the word for 'Father' in the Pennsylvania Dutch language that the Amish speak.) Often when a son takes over the farm, the father 'Dawdy' will move into the apartment so that the son has room to raise his family and also so that the father can semi-retire.
These apartments are also sometimes occupied by a newly married son or daughter. When you stay with the Stoltzfus' in their 'Dawdy House', you are actually able to experience part of the Amish and Mennonite culture!
The Stoltzfus' would love to have you stay with them and enjoy their 100 acre, organic dairy farm which boasts beautiful views of the countryside. When you stay at Churchtown Manor and experience the peaceful setting, let your mind take you back to what this farm may have been like 100 years ago!
The Stoltzfus' own Lena's Victorian Luxuries in Bird-In-Hand, a gift shop that will also take you back 100 years! The Guesthouse is decorated with items from their shop. You will definitely want to take a trip to the store to purchase a gift for that friend you left at home or a treat for yourself.

This is a family farm . My husband was born and raised on the farm. Our children are the 4th generation on the farm.
We absolutely loved our stay at this lovely farm. We had four adults and three children, and there was plenty of room. The guesthouse was comfortable and has amazing views of the countryside. The host, Lena, greeted us outside and was very friendly. The site is an operating dairy farm, so expect there to be some noise and activity. This wasn't bad for us, though. The new puppy Rocky became my son's best friend. He cried when we had to say goodbye, so we're looking forward to coming back. Thank you, Lena!
We had a great stay at the farm. The apartment was very clean, well stocked, and exactly as described. We loved the farm fresh milk and wonderful pickles that Lena provided for us. We would definitely stay again next time our travels take us up to PA.
Very nice apartment. We had 6 adults and accommodations were very nice. I would not want to have more than 6 people. Small living room area. We loved the dog - Skittles.
Charming and quiet retreat for a weekend getaway. Better than pictured. Great hosts and a friendly dog that my children fell in love with.
Wonderful half of a farmhouse with a nice yard for running around. Surrounded by farms, we felt safe enough to let the small children enjoy being outside without the need to keep a close eye on them. (Not completely unsupervised, of course!)
Large enough for a small family get together, and the secluded country location, midway between Lancaster and Downingtown, is convenient for those areas. Lena was a wonderful hostess.
The house was nicely furnished with most of the things that we needed for the stay: kitchen, paper supplies, coffee, etc. The beds were comfortable. TV was modest. Combined kitchen / living / dining rooms. Available laundry. We will gladly stay here again, hopefully in warmer weather to enjoy more of the outdoors!
We stayed here during the BIH half marathon with my parents and my sister. The home was lovely and we very much enjoyed being greeted by the farm dogs when we would come back to the home from venturing out. Beautiful home, quiet and relaxing! I would recommend staying here.
