Churchtown Manor Guesthouse is located 15 minutes from the village of Intercourse, in the heart of Amish Country. Staying at Churchtown Manor is an opportunity to experience a peaceful Mennonite farm with Amish farms all around.
Churchtown Manor was formerly an Amish farm which was purchased by the owners great-grandparents in 1937. The farmhouse was built in the 1800's and has been remodeled recently. The Guesthouse was originally built for the owners grandfather after his son got married and took over the farm. The apartment has since been occupied by the owners parents as well.
Among the Amish and Mennonites, attached apartments like the Guesthouse are commonly known as the 'Dawdy House'. ('Dawdy' is the word for 'Father' in the Pennsylvania Dutch language that the Amish speak.) Often when a son takes over the farm, the father 'Dawdy' will move into the apartment so that the son has room to raise his family and also so that the father can semi-retire.
These apartments are also sometimes occupied by a newly married son or daughter. When you stay with the Stoltzfus' in their 'Dawdy House', you are actually able to experience part of the Amish and Mennonite culture!
The Stoltzfus' would love to have you stay with them and enjoy their 100 acre, organic dairy farm which boasts beautiful views of the countryside. When you stay at Churchtown Manor and experience the peaceful setting, let your mind take you back to what this farm may have been like 100 years ago!
The Stoltzfus' own Lena's Victorian Luxuries in Bird-In-Hand, a gift shop that will also take you back 100 years! The Guesthouse is decorated with items from their shop. You will definitely want to take a trip to the store to purchase a gift for that friend you left at home or a treat for yourself.

This is a family farm . My husband was born and raised on the farm. Our children are the 4th generation on the farm.
We spent a lovely three nights on this property. The apartment is beautifully situated overlooking a country road - and the row of windows lining the entire side of the house kept my children perched for hours on the lookout for Amish buggies. Lena and her family were wonderful hosts! We look forward to returning soon.
We returned here again this year and once again it was AMAZING! The hosts were/are wonderful. What a peaceful weekend we had. There is nothing like waking up to the sound of horse and buggies. When coming and going we were greeted by friendly cats and dogs. I grew up on a farm and I felt so at home on this farm. The accommodations were immaculate! You have every comfort of home. If you want a restful, peaceful getaway this is the place to be. The shopping and sights in the area are great. I can't thank the Stoltzfuz family enough.
Wonderful way to enjoy the Lancaster experience. We have been doing VRBOs for year's now...and this one was at the top of the list of places to return to! We were in the area during an event called Lancaster's Best Kept Secrets Tour...an event that showcases places to see outside of the "normal" Lancaster experience. So glad we discovered that...the rental was in a great location to access many of the events. We traveled to Lititz, Adamstown, Quarrysville, Strasburg...and the Green Dragon Market in Ephrata. Will definitely be returning...probably bringing my daughter and grandchildren next time to enjoy! As far as customer service...Lena met us on the first afternoon with a coffee cake warm from the oven and the next day with fresh tomatoes from the garden. You can't get better customer service than that! The listing and some earlier reviews indicate TV but no cabel...they have since gotten cable TV...so that's an additional perk...even though we weren't there long enough to watch a lot of TV. Definitely a 5-star VRBO!
Property was better than expected! My husband and I took his soon to be 80 year old mother and her sister on their dream vacation to Lancaster. We stayed in the lovely "Dawdy house" owned by the Stolfuz family. We were delighted in every way! My only word of caution is that if you are traveling with elderly, keep in mind there are stairs to the entrance of the house and stairs to the only shower. We knew this in advance so it wasn't problematic for us, but could be concerning for some.
Great place in a Mennonite farm where the owners have a wonderful family ! Thank you for your warm welcome. We spent 3 nights and really enjoyed it . My kids want to go back ! You will love this cosy place In the middle of the amish country where you can see the buggies on the road from your seat ! Peaceful and magic ...
We loved staying here! It is a beautiful working farm with 35 milking cows. The property is so peaceful and serene. You will see and hear alot of horses trot by the house. We also watched the Amish kids and adults roller blade and skateboard down the road as well. It is just a few minutes to several towns for souvenirs.
I would recommend if you have kids to bring a CD player and some movies because there is a tv but no cable and no CD player. It was August and hot outside and the upstairs bedrooms had an air condion in them but the one bedroom down did not have one so if during the summer time I would ask they bring in a fan because it was pretty warm. Also the BR on main level didnt have a closet or dresser to put your clothes so I would ask they bring in something to put your clothing in. The full bath was very large which was nice and it was pretty much furnished with the necessities and 1/2 bath on main level. Kitchen had everything you needed too. It was a nice place to stay and we would stay there again.
