About Amy

The previous owner designed and built the three cottages in 2001--architecturally, it was designed based on what he thought Thomas Jefferson may have built--the scale is much smaller however—he believed Thomas Jefferson was the greatest architect for visual effect in the history of our country. Valley Glen is a truly unique place to stay in the Colorado mountains!

Amy purchased this cottage in 2001

Why Amy chose Divide

The mountains offer serenity and in our busy lifestyles, we all need that relaxation. This location combines a blend of a remote, romantic oasis with access to outdoor activities, historic locations, and the entertainment of gambling, shopping, and dining.

What makes this cottage unique

the Big Horn Sheep hang around frequently along with deer, elk, and my favorite is the awesome little Hummingbirds that stay around from May through Sept. AND if you are lucky (?) you may see a bear!

Guestbook comments from the owner

"you can't improve upon perfection. You are the example of graciousness. This cottage is so lovely and down to the very best detail. Seventeen sparkling windows, excellent quality facial bathroom tissues. I have visited 39 lodges/cottages in PA & CO and yours is absolutely the very best. This is far above the Broadmoor & The Ritz Carlton in Denver. We'll be back in the summer! Nothing could be better! You really take the prize for cleanliness and attention to detail.".

Beautiful mountain get away

  • 4 of 5

If you are looking for a cozy cottage, next to a mountain stream with tons of character, look no further. We LOVED this place and are certain you will too! The location is tucked away, yet only 20 minutes away from Cripple Creek. Giving you the option of having a glass of wine by a warm quite fire, or a cocktail during a night out on the town.

Great Charm in a Great Location

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time in this cozy little spot. Great charm inside and great ambiance outside. Well maintained, clean and cozy. The cookies and coffee as well as the OJ, and eggs in the fridge were an excellent touch!

We loved the sound of running water in the stream right next to the house - even saw some trout! Being close to the hiking trails and beautiful drives was great as well. Location is great and easy to get to and the drive in and out to all the local attractions made the experience awesome. We will definitely come back.

A clean and quiet creekside retreat.

We were greeted with homemade cookies and hot chocolate. Communication with host was good. If you are looking for a place to relax away from the hustle and bustle, this is it. Very charming and quiet. Hope to return sometime and/or try out the other cottages!
