About Darla: 740-407-1059

We are BIG fans of the Hocking Hills, and we live just one hour away in the Columbus area. Since childhood, we learned to appreciate nature and our environment. Getting the opportunity a few decades later to buy land and build a vacation retreat in our favorite Ohio location, was a real life changing treat! Our family (two adult sons and daughter-in-law) and extended family and friends enjoy some rest and relaxation at the property several times a year. We open our home to others to enjoy, and hope they feel it's their home away from home too!

Darla: 740-407-1059 purchased this lodge in 2007

Why Darla: 740-407-1059 chose Ohio

Seems like a world away but only a one hour drive from the city of Columbus. Hocking Hills is a great break from the city, providing beautiful scenery, tranquil and relaxing environment with so many natural attractions very close by.

What makes this lodge unique

Bamboo trees near patio and deck. Custom Automation Technology to control lights, security and utilities via lap top when home is not in use to conserve energy, on-site composting to feed the landscape.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We enjoyed our 5 nights here so much. We wish we were not packing the car right now and could just stay here longer. The lodge is beautiful and very nicely furnished. The bonfire pit and hot tub were some of our very favorites. The kids favorite things were the foosball and pool table, and leaving the property one day for a zip lining trip. This setting was so relaxing and quiet, yet so close to the State Park. Thank you for calling the dog catcher for us to tell them about the sweet stray dog that wondered onto the property throughout our stay. By the time he got here, the dog wondered off again BUT came back again as we were packing to leave. The kids fell in love with the dog for the past several days so needless to say, we have one additional passenger for the ride back home. Her newly given name is Maggie per the kids! Must be fate as we were planning on getting a family pet. The kids are THRILLED to add Maggie to our family!

Wonderful and secluded luxury in the woods

  • 5 of 5

My husband treated me to a four night stay here for my birthday and early Valentine's Day trip. We'd never been to Hocking Hills before, but want to make it a point to go each year now. This property was very clean, hilltop views, wildlife visitors, nicely furnished and so relaxing! We enjoyed the movies, pool table, the hot tub, and hiking down the driveway to the Buckeye Trail, Ash Cave and Cedar Falls. We loved the house and the surrounding land. In four days, we never heard anything, never saw anyone except when we went sight seeing and to dinner. We will definitely come again, and bring our parents.

Girls' Weekend Feb. 17-20, 2017

Verified Stay

What a beautiful home! Your house was perfect for our annual Girls' Weekend. It was very comfortable with so many amenities. We especially enjoyed the outdoor hot tub, the fire pit and indoor fireplace. With the weather being especially warm for this time of year, we were able to do a lot of hiking, and the house was great to come "home" to afterwards. The kitchen was well equipped. I would highly recommend this home for large groups.

Nice property

We had a great time. Place needs some touching up though. Furniture is worn out, internet is poor, and they need a larger or second refrigerator. With room for 12, you must have room for food for 12. Hot tub was a mess, very dirty, cover needs to be replaced. With cell service very limited, internet is important especially for business owners.

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for the review. To help address comments, the internet service is the most expensive package available in the rural area of where our home is located, and it's satellite based (all that's available) so it is unfortunately slower than city internet options. , We unfortunately can't change that until more options become available. We keep checking for more internet options every year but remain disappointed we already have the best available. Nearly all the furniture in our home is brand new, or less than a year old. I walked around and looked at, sat on every piece of furniture, and couldn't locate anything worn out. The hot tub cover pull rod was accidentally damaged by the guest prior to your stay, they called to apologize, and I ordered a new one immediately that hasn't been delivered yet. As far as adding another refrigerator, with the refrigerator on main floor and built in beverage wine cooler frige in lower level, we don't have anyplace to store one without major remodeling. We apologize that isn't an option at this time, and find when we stay with larger group of family, we've been able to fit all our food several days in a row, and once it's consumed, we go to Super Walmart in Logan and re-stock for week stays. With this stay only being two nights, I am surprised there wasn't enough food storage space and apologize. Thank you for the input, and we appreciate you staying at our property. We do use less busy Jan-Feb to touch up paint, do even more freshening up etc., so we will continue to strive for 100% guest satisfaction. Sincerely, Darla

Peaceful Getaway

  • 4 of 5
Verified Stay

We stayed at this house last year and loved it, so we decided to come back this year. The location is great, right by Ash Cave, to go for a hike. The property itself is a good size and we took several walks on the grounds. It is a secluded and peaceful setting. The interior of the house is beautiful and has all the amenities you would need. The pictures on the website are exactly what you can expect, no surprises. We had a minor issue last year and contacted the owner. She immediately responded and our issue was easily resolved. I would highly recommend this wonderful home to friends and family. We hope to visit again soon!

The property was very comfortable and included all the comforts of being at home. From supplied linens to cleaning supplies and laundry detergent. A great welcoming touch of a gift basket including locally grown apples and wine. Very thoughtful! Very peaceful and relaxing at night while enjoying the fire pit. We also encountered a Buck and Doe while we were out by the fire pit during the day. This 33 acre property is perfect for nature lovers. I highly recommend a stay here! We will be back
