We were thrilled when we stumbled across this 50 plus acre property on our regular Hocking Hills travels to the State Parks. My husband Dean and I, our two sons and daughter-in-law live and work in the city of Columbus, just one hour away.
We have enjoyed many trips to the Hocking Hills over the years, and wanted a place to gather with friends and family not too far of a drive! Mission accomplished when we found the Beagle Hill Lodge (farmhouse). It is so close to all the region has to offer. A short car ride to Old Man's Cave, Cedar Falls, The Rock House, Ash Cave, hiking trails, ATV trails, fishing, kayaking, spa services, zip lining, our favorite local restaurant The Inn at Cedar Falls, we knew we had to jump on this property or it would be gone! The lay out of the land is so peaceful and relaxing. My favorite pass time is watching the wild turkeys and plentiful deer stroll by while I am sitting on the front porch swing. We stay at Beagle Hill several times each year, and rent it to tourists when we aren't able to go ourselves. We hope others enjoy it as much as we do! We have met so many nice people along the way, regulars that stay at our home every year. The Hocking Hills is my very favorite destination in Ohio, and I consider myself lucky I was in the right place at the right time when the property became available for purchase.
Darla: 740-407-1059 purchased this farmhouse in 2009
Great Location less than 2 miles from Old Man's Cave State Park, close to zip lining, ATV tours and so many other attractions! Beautiful, beautiful land! Beagle Hill Lodge sits on 50 scenic and private wooded acres. It is right on the main route into Hocking Hills for convenience yet so private and hill top views are great to observe from the upper deck of the house. Deer and wild turkey roam the land regularly.
Hot tub, sand volleyball court, fire pit, the pavilion for family cookouts and relaxing hammocks, nature hikes on the property! Close by is more trail hiking, ATV riding, in home massages and traveling chef for special occasions, zip lining, Segway tours, canoeing, antique and unique gift shopping, photography workshops, cave and waterfall exploration day trips, family picnics at the caves!
Six adults, three kids and two Labrador retrievers stayed here to ring in the New Year! Ended '13 and started '14 with lots of lovely snow. We walked all around the property woods, fields, and up and down your really long and scenic private lane. Also explored Old Man's cave on a warmer afternoon when giant icicles were falling from the cliffs and splashing into the river- OUTSTANDING!!!
New Year's Day was warm and sunny, so the fire pit got much use as we watched the sun set. Saw cardinals, blue jays, hawks, vultures, nuthatchers and heard woodpeckers!
Many thanks for the well-appointed kitchen, the hot tub, and so many towels!

This cabin was a great selection for my group (of 5) leaving plenty of room to spare. The rooms were clean and spacious. They provided a lot of cooking utensils, cookware etc, some we even forgot. Sadly it was cold and rainy when we went so we couldn't use the fire pit area but we used the hot tub!
As most all cabins in this area state cell service was a bust, one bar if your lucky. However there was wi-fi and a landline. We were able to receive calls on the landline but couldnt make calls, not sure why. We did set up our phones to make and receive calls through the wi-fi however and that solved the problem. The wi-fi was a little tempermental but we managed.
I would defintely bring bottled water as the water is well water and very irony!!!
This place was very secluded but close to all the activities we planned!! They also had Direct TV and a large dining room table where we ate and played games.
This cabin is a dog friendly cabin and my 2 dogs were right at home, exploring and just laying around.
My only comment to the owners would be to be clear on how to handle recycled garbage. There are containers in the home for recycle but you are suppose to remove all garbage from the house upon departure and there is only one dumpster for all garbage. Sadly we had to throw regular garbage and recycle in same dumpster.
All in all this was a great choice and I would definitely stay here again!
It was great to share the hocking hills with my grandchildren and we all enjoyed having our four legged family members along for our holiday thank you so much!
I hosted a student leadership retreat here for a college group I advise. The house was perfectly set up for meetings throughout the weekend and we all had space to spare! We especially appreciated the kitchen, which had every pot, pan, appliance, etc. that we needed to make food for the weekend. The only challenge was the driveway--it was a snowy day and we had a bit of trouble getting up the hill. Knowing that, we would definitely rent this house again, but carpool in 4-wheel drive vehicles if the weather is bad.
Beagle hill is such a cool place for families. With all the sleeping accommodations to the wonderful outdoors, we truly enjoyed our stay. We certainly want to go back! Thank you for the awesome stay!!
Beagle Hill was the best rental yet. Plenty of space inside and outside with lots to do without ever leaving the property. Playing board games, toasting marshmallows, tossing Frisbee, watching movies, strolling around the property, star gazing, baking, and more. Our group ranged in age from 21 to 75 and everyone had a great time.
Multiple bedrooms and bathrooms (all clean and well kept) gave everyone space and privacy. The big dinning room and living room combo gave us some together-time too. The kitchen was plenty big enough for a large group, with two ovens, a big stove, a dishwasher, and lots of space in the fridge. The lower level was ideal for the dogs, with tile floors and easy access to the yard.
This is a beautiful property with great views from every window and deck.
It is also very close to all the Hocking Hills sights. Less than 2 miles to Old Man's Cave (closest), and about 12 miles to Cantwell Cliffs (farthest). Stop in at Ruby's Country Cupboard if you get the chance. Lots of hand made crafts and goodies.
We had a terrific time at the Beagle Lodge. There were three generations present and the lay out was perfect for everyone to have privacy and yet be together. The deck was very nice and the dining table worked out well considering there were 10 of us and only 8 chairs. The outdoors area and picnic shelter were great for grilling out and socializing. The kitchen was well stocked and accommodated more than one cook which helped speed meals along. A bit tricky to find the first time but convenient to all of the Hocking Hills attractions. The acreage gave us incredible privacy plus lovely views of the surrounding hillsides.
In home travelling spa services are very reasonably priced in Hocking Hills. Regional visitor guide and area brochures left on welcome table for guests. This helps guests to gain recreational, dining and other area attractions options to pick from while lodging with us.
