This ageless Victorian home is located at York Beach, just a 3-5 minute walk to Short Sands Beach. Its uniqueness is in the design of old 1860's New England. The house has a total of five bedrooms- three on the second floor and two on the third floor. Linens and A/C units are provided in every room. There is a half bathroom on the first floor off the kitchen, a full bath on the second floor, and a 1/2 bath (shower and sink) on the third floor. The house has four bays of windows to enjoy the salty ocean breezes. It faces south and the flowers throughout the property grow magnificently. With the windows open at night, you can hear the calming sounds of the ocean. In the back, there is a privacy hedge of Canadian Hemlocks that gives shade on a hot day to the patio, which is fully equipped with a gas grill, table w/ umbrella, and seating for six. Enjoy the beautiful gardens as you sit on the side porch off the living room, or while sitting in the shade of one of the trees on a warm summer day.
The property is conveniently located in the heart of York Beach, just a 3-5 minute walk to Short Sands Beach and all the shops, restaurants, and fun nearby! Bring the kids (or your inner child) to York's Amusement Park, located right next door, and ride the ferris wheel and merry-go-round, or take a swing at the batting cages. Walk down to the beach and play skeeball, Pac-Man, or air hockey at the arcade. Stop in Sweet Josie's Candy Shoppe for some fudge or ice cream on your way back home, or visit Goldenrod Kisses for a quick bite and some delicious salt water taffy- made in house!
Just a little bit down the road is charming York Village. It is very quaint with many historical homes and one of the oldest jails (1617) in the U.S. Many of the buildings are open for tours during the season as vacationers enjoy going back in time to days of old to hear York's colorful history of early settlers and native Americans in the early 1600s. The area has so much rich history that folks take numerous photos for their vacation memories and enjoy later when they are home. Be sure to visit the famous Nubble Lighthouse. Once you see its majestic setting, you will understand why it is photographed closed to a million times a year! There is always something to do for people of all ages.
Please Note: There is a 8% required Maine Sales Tax in addition to weekly cost.

In 1996, our beloved mother and grandmother retired from her job as a public school teacher in Boston and moved to York Beach. When she bought this house, it had been neglected for years and was in a very sad state. It was definitely a labor of love, but after months and months of hard work, we helped her to turn it back into the wonderful, charming home it is today. Unfortunately, we lost Sarah in January 2015, but we as a family have taken on the property and are devoted to making sure it is kept up to her fabulous standards!
Jeanette Amiano purchased this house in 1996
Taking old, run down homes and bringing them back to life is a passion that runs in the family. Many people thought Sarah was crazy for buying this house in its dilapidated state, but we saw the potential, and after months and months of hard work, the house was restored to its natural beauty. Sarah loved to garden and took great pride in her beautiful landscaping. The whole family gets involved in caring for the big yard and garden, making sure it is ready for our guests to enjoy.
This is a unique house with lots of historic charm, but updated amenities. It has a large, open front yard and a private back patio perfect for a barbecue. At night, the lights of the amusement park light up next door and you can watch the ferris wheel spin. The location can't be beat as the shops, restaurants, arcade, and beach are just steps away. Being just a 3-5 minute walk to Short Sands Beach is truly a luxury when considering the cost and limited availability of parking.
We had another great vacation staying at your house. We want to return next season and are making a decision to stay for 2 weeks in July. Will contact you with more4 information.
we have stayed here several times and have always enjoyed the warmth and beauty of this well-loved home. everything is spotless and comfortable. the location cannot be beat. walk to shops, restaurants, beach, nubble lighthouse. only wish i could stay more often.
Last summer, I rented this house with a bunch of friends for a mini-reunion, and we had such a great time! We all loved the house. It was big, beautiful, very clean, and very nicely updated. We loved hanging out and BBQ-ing on the patio and lounging in the gorgeous yard. The location was super convenient to restaurants and shops, and it was great to be able to walk to the beach and not have to drive and pay $$ to park. York is a great little area with lots of fun things to do. We had a blast and would love to come back again!
From the moment we walked through the front door we knew our vacation had begun. The home was everything Sarah said and more. While we did take advantage of the beach and quaint town, we enjoyed much time at home. Our two daughters,sons-in-law,as well as five of our grandchildren ranging in age from 5 years to 2 months all "were on vacation"
Our family had a small reunion in York Beach, Maine, and the owner, Sarah, was wonderful about accommodating our needs. The house and gardens are just amazing and we felt like we were in wonderland for the whole week. Even the weather cooperated with us. :)
We had a wonderful week in this lovely period home! From the warm and inviting interior to the splendor of the gardens, we couldn't have booked a better place. The house was immaculate and our kids just loved the top floor! A two minute walk to the beach and shops - couldn't be situated better. We loved walking the beach before sunrise. So much to do and see in area - next year we might take two weeks!
Thank you Sarah!!
