|Minimum Stay||3 nights|
Lexie House is a cozy, comfortable, restored 1905 cottage tucked right into the middle of Portland's most coveted historic neighborhood.
Your friendly hosts live nearby, and are available to assist you or just leave you alone to enjoy your stay.
Antique and vintage furnishings, along with original fir floors and many wavy-glass windows, add to the cottage charm. But 'mod-cons' -- including high-speed WiFi internet, and flat screen HD TV with premium cable -- abound. Ten-foot high ceilings, with an open floor plan and lots of light.
In the master bedroom, there's a late-1800’s brass double bed, with a Tempur-pedic mattress. The smaller bedroom also boasts an antique brass bed, a single.
The spacious open living area offers a comfortable double futon, adjustable Morris chair, good reading lights, desk with high-speed Internet access, and TV with premium cable.
In the bathroom, there's a shower, tub -- and rubber duckies galore! Highchair, crib, playpen, changing table and stroller are available, as are roll-a-way and inflatable beds for your own visitors.
The fully equipped kitchen has a modern gas range and stainless steel fridge, dishwasher, microwave, cookware, dishes, herbs and spices, and (of course!) that Pacific NW essential: an espresso machine!
The utility room off the kitchen has a washer and dryer. The kitchen opens into a tranquil deck area, with two tables, chairs, a barbecue -- and the surrounding bamboo garden creating maximum privacy.
Sellwood Park, with its seasonal public pool and wonderfully equipped playground, is three long blocks away. Westmoreland Park -- playground and all -- is three blocks in the other direction.
The public library is on the next block. Funky or elegant restaurants, grocery stores, two Starbucks, and Sellwood's justly-famed Antique Row are all a stroll away. A four-block walk takes you to the New Seasons natural foods market.
Explore Oaks Bottom, renowned wildlife preserve -- or Oaks Park, America's oldest continually running amusement park!
Take the bus to Portland's downtown and east side shopping districts. Reed College, Lewis & Clark College and Law School, Oregon Health Sciences Universities and Portland State are all a ten-minute drive away.
Bicycles are available for renting.
Susan and Sam, writer and lawyer respectively, are longtime Sellwood homeowners, and love to help visitors enjoy all the historic neighborhood has to offer.
The home is decorated in an eclectic fashion. Very cozy and welcoming. Clean, warm and all necessities are available. Susan, the owner, met us at the property. She gave us great suggestions for dining and morning coffee. As well as a lovely bottle of wine and a gift certificate to the local Asian restaurant, Jade. An awesome restaurant.
We enjoyed ourselves thoroughly and would love to have the opportunity to stay here again!!
We were lucky to snag Lexie House when planning a last minute trip to PDX. The owner was responsive as we cobbled our trip together and a gracious host upon our arrival. The house is literally steps away from local shops and restaurants while still being in the heart of a residential neighborhood. The decor is charming, but practical, and accommodated 3 adults comfortably. Having laundry facilities on-site was great for a 5-day stay. The kitchen is adequately supplied, and allowed us to prepare and seat a full holiday dinner for 6. Afterwards, we lounged in the living area, and watched holiday movies, complete with a lighted Christmas tree. With family recently moving to PDX, we plan to travel again, and hope we'll be able to book Lexie House.
Wow, I have to come back! Wonderful little home built in 1905 suited the 4 of us for 3 nights very well. We came to Lexi House because it was located only 3 miles north of where our new grandson and his parents live. I fell in love with it. Would love to come back with a couple of my girlfriends to explore more of the shops and restaurants in the area and doing this walking! Susan is so fun and a great hostess. Can't wait to stay again. The property is very accommodating, comfortable and the eclectic decor is warm and welcoming. The antique bed is very comfy as are the single bed in the little room and the futon was surprisingly comfy also. If you are looking for a different little getaway stay at the Lexi House located in the heart of the funky little Sellwood community. It's a blast!
A friend, my adult son and I recently stayed 3 nights at the Lexie House. A cute, comfortable and very clean bungalow in a nice part of Portland, plenty of room for us. The owner and her husband are wonderful people, who met us when we arrived to show us the place and explain things. Plenty of good places to eat in the area (Jade restaurant, food trucks, a bakery down the street, etc.), within easy walking distance. On street parking, which on Friday & Saturday evenings can be challenging, but we were able to find a parking spot just a block away. Easy access to anywhere in the Portland area. I highly recommend a stay at the Lexie House when one is in the Portland area.
I was in the Lexie House for a month, and I was able to spend a very comfortable time.
Every room(a bed room, a kitchen, a bathroom) is very cute and good usability. It's so comfortable there, I really felt at home.
And the house is very near the main street, I can go to shopping and eating by walk.
The owner is very kind and friendly. I was able to stay in peace.
Lexie House is a cute little cottage in a very pleasant area about 4.5 miles from downtown Portland. We gave our hostess, Susan, a heads up regarding our impending arrival and she was on the premises to greet us and show us how everything worked. The kitchen is quite adequate, but we didn't cook too much. Instead we patronized Jade next door (thank you Susan!), food trucks, and coffee shops, etc. all within easy walking distance. We also took the bus to downtown Portland, as well as the Max (light rail). Trips further away entailed our son carting us around as we did not rent a car. Sellwood is a very homey and safe neighborhood, if I were to move to Portland it would be my first choice! Incidentally, if you visit popular Voodoo Doughnut, I recommend the maple bacon bar most highly. All in all, Lexie House was a great find and we can't thank our gracious hostess enough!
