About The Owner

We have been in Hawaii for many years. My husband born and raised here on Oahu He moved to Kailua when he was very young . He has surfed for many years both board and body can tell you good spots for experienced and beginners .

The Owner purchased this apartment in 1998

Why The Owner chose Oahu

This is a unique and private community. The apartment is located close to all that you might be interested in seeing on Ohau . The completion of H3 HWY has made it possible to get from Kailua to Pearl Harbor, Waikele Premium Outlets,North Shore Big waves great surf spots I might add no traffic on H3. Going from Lanikai to Sandy Beach , Makapu'u ,Sea Life Park, and Hanauma Bay are all about 30 minute drive on Kalaniana'ole HWY

What makes this apartment unique

Beaches here are beautiful we exercise and walk and jog and bike. We can relax and have quiet hours for reading and resting. We are a short 3 minute walk to the beach. Every morning you can enjoy a nice private walk on the beach with beautiful fine white sand and than come home for coffee and enjoy the tropical setting off your lanai or if you prefer you can go to a local coffee shop just off Kailua Beach. Bikes are also available in Kailua for biking the trails and just getting around Kailua There are several areas for hiking. One that is quite enjoyable when you get to the top that overlooks all of Lanikai.

Grandson first

  • 4 of 5

This was a trip my 10yr old grandson will remember. His desire has been to experience Pearl Harbor, and the beautiful Beaches of Lanaki. Len was a gracious host interacting with him making him feel welcome. We spent most of our time on the covered deck when not at the beach.

Wonderful stay and felt like a local

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I were finally able to take our honeymoon and loved every second of our stay. We weren't in the place too much since we were always out adventuring around; however, we sure did utilize the kitchen and the outdoor patio. It was so nice sipping our coffee and having our dinner out on the beautiful patio listening to the birds and seeing all the little lizards. Jenny and Len offered a great amount of amenities and overall we had such a wonderful time. We hope to be back sometime in the future!

Stunning! - Everything we expected with the welcoming spirit of aloha.

  • 5 of 5

We just spent a week soaking up the breathtaking beauty of Lanikai. The apartment was well supplied with everything we could possibly need. (And yes the bed is as comfortable as previous quests have stated). The outdoor patio area is very private and quiet with the exception of the sound of tropical birds - which we love. On day one Lenny hooked us up with a wagon to tote all of the beach equipment down the street to beach, (less than a five minute walk - fifteen to the long stretch of Lanikai). We walked over and hiked the pillbox trail for breathtaking views from above. That is a must-do if you can. Kayaking was also available but sadly we missed our opportunity to get out to the Moke's. We'll definitely be back for that. We have travelled much of Kauai, Maui and now Oahu and have not seen a more beautiful area. The hosts were most kind and available when we needed them, they made some great recommendations, but for the most gave us our privacy to celebrate our 25th anniversary. We really appreciated the everything you do to make us feel at home. We'll definitely be back. Aloha until then. Carole and Ed

Great stay

  • 4 of 5

The apartment was great. It was just as described. One bedroom and a full kitchen. Our son slept on the pull out sofa. We especially enjoyed the outside area. We used the grill several times. It was also a quiet place to enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning, or a cocktail in the evening. The kitchen was well stocked with extras like seasonings, ketchup, bbq sauce, saran wrap, and much more. It was also nice to have an ice machine. There were coolers and beach toys available to use. The only thing that would have been better was if it was closer to the beach. There is a wagon available to use , but it is about 1/4 mile to Lanakai beach. Lanakai beach is beautiful but there are no bathrooms. We found it better to drive to Kailua beach when we wanted to spend the day at the beach. Lenny and Jenny were very good hosts. They really gave us our privacy but were available when needed.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the critique. We are glad you enjoyed your stay. The only other thing I would like mention is that there is a smaller beach at the end of Lanipo a 3 minute walk from the unit. From Lanipo beach access to the beach access Kaiolena (the one referred to ) is a quarter mile .

Feel like a local while on vacation!

  • 5 of 5

This is our second time renting from Jenny and Len. We absolutely love the apartment because it felt like we were locals living in Kailua and Lanikai. Jenny and Len are easy to work with and made us feel so comfortable.

On this trip, my wife and I brought our teenage son and we all fit comfortably. The apartment had everything we needed: towels, linens, cookware, plates, utensils, bbq, etc. The washer and dryer was very convenient and allowed us to pack light. We cooked breakfast and dinner in the apartment and always ate on the lanai, which was a very comfortable space. We loved the fresh mangoes from their tree too! We were able to use the beach chairs, coolers, and other beach items every day we went to the beach or on our other adventures. It's nice to have access to these items and not have to rent or buy.

Jenny and Len are around, but never intrude in your privacy. When we saw them, we had several nice conversations with them and enjoyed hearing their stories. Whenever we return to Oahu, we'll always try to stay here. It's a fantastic rental!

Perfect little spot in paradise!

  • 5 of 5

We visit Hawaii every year and this is BY FAR our favorite rental to date. The actual apartment was very nice, clean and spacious. We travelled with our two children (ages 8 and 12) and they comfortably slept in the hideaway bed. The owners stock the rental with all the necessities (such as toilet paper, paper towels, trash bags, iron, blow dryer, spare toothbrush if needed, beach towels, beach wagon, beach toys...really anything you can think of). All we needed to buy was the food.

While the apartment was very nice, we were rarely inside. The outdoor lanai was it's own little paradise. There was ample patio furniture, ceiling fans, loungers, tables and chairs. The backyard was so tropical and lush. They had huge mango trees producing ripe fruit daily. The owner's would leave mangos on our outdoor table in the morning, because the kids had mentioned they loved making mango smoothies! We had other family staying in Waikiki and several nights they would drive over to our side of the island and we'd BBQ and play cards/dominoes on the lanai at night.

The beaches at Lanikai speak for themselves. I don't know why you would want to stay anywhere else. It's quiet, it's clean, it's absolute perfect. They water is so warm and the waves are so gentle. You feel like you could float for hours. This beach is the ultimate relaxation spot. The ocean is a short walk from the house (a few mins), but if you want to get to the larger Lanikai beach spot it's about 1/4 mile up the road. No more than a 15 min walk. Again,, the owners provide a beach wagon to tote all your stuff.

The owners could not have been any kinder! As other reviewers had mentioned, they are rarely seen. Every night, long after you're asleep, they bring in the outdoor cushions and cover up the furniture for the night. In the morning before you wake, they have replaced all the cushions, swept the porch and lots of other small touches. They stay out of your way and let you enjoy your vacation. Every time we did see them, they were just the nicest people to chat with.

I don't know what else to say, other than the fact that we will rent there again (and again and again)! We will also refer all our friends and family to stay there as well. This place is absolutely perfect!
