This house is positively enchanting. So well organized. We could not have asked for anything better. Thank you for all the thoughtful kitchen utensils- linens, décor and even the sunshine!
The yellow house had a nice view of the ocean through a window seat which was shared by all of our family members at various times throughout the day. The house is just steps from a hiking path along the ocean which made our many daily walks/hikes extremely enjoyable. The location is close to shopping and an excellent aquarium, which shouldn't be missed.
The main house, which is rented separately from the guest house above the separate garage, is bright from large windows that also provide a nice view of Lover's point and the sea. The aged hardwood floors and some antique furniture certainly allude to this home's early 20th century origins. Downstairs, the combined living and dining areas are spacious and have plenty of seating for a party of eight (or a few more). There are two bathrooms upstairs, with one attached to the master bedroom and a second shared between two bedrooms.
The beds were large and comfortable, as was the sleeper sofa downstairs near the kitchen. There were plenty of kitchen implements and dishes for our purposes, but we did not fully utilize the kitchen. The water definitely needs to be filtered before use (particularly for ice cubes), for it has a distinct saline quality. A few items were out of order (the in-fridge water and ice dispensers and the built-in microwave), but replacements were already on hand when we arrived.
So, given the overall charm of the house, its location, and decent furnishings, it is worth a five star rating, despite those two hopefully-soon-to-be-replaced malfunctioning appliances.
Six family members and I spent four nights in this special home. I absolutely love that the Yellow House is older and has its own unique features and sounds. It may have been built many years ago, but this lovely home has all the modern items anyone would need: Well equipped kitchen and bathrooms, tv's, dvd players, WiFi, very cozy beds. The home is beautifully decorated in greens, yellows and blues. My favorite spots were the back deck - We had breakfast there every morning - and the window seat where I read in the afternoons. Finally, the location is perfect. The shore is steps away and popular shops, restaurants and attractions are quickly reached on foot.
I loved this warm and inviting home and plan to stay there again.
What a wonderful surprise, a home that meets and exceeds expectations! We rented both the Main & Guest House for our annual girlfriend's retreat.
Location, location, location. This house is perfectly situated in the middle of Lover's Point, Monterey's Cannery Row & downtown Pacific Grove (5-8 min walk pending your pace). For those active vacationers, rent Bikes and Kayak's from Adventure's by the Sea. For the loungers, fireplace and sightseeing out the big bay window with seat.
Comforts of home. Fully stocked kitchen. Only request is to have more dish towels available.
Beds and linens were clean and comfortable for the chilly nights.
The secrets out, we'll have to book way in advance for the next trip.
Excellent choice for family vacation. Very close to the water and Lovers Point Cove to play at the beach. Home is very quaint and clean. Bed and Linens are very comfortable. Kitchen nicely equipped and eating area perfect for 4 couples. Nice to have garage to store our bikes. Parking was easy. Owners and Sanctuary Rentals very accommodating. Will certainly come again!!
I rented this home for a golf weekend at Pebble Beach. Staying in the main home was 4 men and the rooms/bathrooms were a perfect fit for our group. The house is very clean and well-kept, and the pride shows in the various notes and touches throughout. We were able to easily walk to Cannery Row and enjoy some great food and entertainment. If you're looking for a location close to the water and restaurants and shops this is an excellent one!
This area has so much to do that you could spend a month and still not see or experience everything. From Monterey to Big Sur lies some of the most scenic ocean drives and vistas in the world. A 9-mile beach trail wends its way along the coast starting at Asilomar Beach in P.G. and going past numerous restaurants, shops and wine tasting before reaching Cannery Row, home of the Monterey Bay Aquarium. There are numerous restaurants, galleries, music venues and local theater in the area. Watch the AT&T Pro Am Golf Tournament in February; Concours d'Elegance and Monterey Historic Automobile races in August; and enjoy many local festivals, including Monterey Jazz Festival in September and Carmel Bach Festival in July.
Other Activities: The Monterey Aquarium!
