My wife Stacy and I purchased this new cabin and completely upgraded the home one room and one floor at a time. We've tried to combine the mountain ambiance with some of the modern necessities we all look for in a vacation home. Appalachian Dream is our family's stress relief and provides an escape from the Florida heat. We wanted to show our 2 young children that there really are 4 seasons and each is as beautiful as the next. Appalachian Dream always brings our family and friends closer together. There are so many memories to be shared and I'm glad I have the opportunity to share my home with you and your family.
Mark Skolnick purchased this cabin in 2006
The cabin is centrally located between Boone, Blowing Rock, and Valle Crucis to the East and Sevin Devils, Banner Elk, and Linville to the West. The cabin is less than 15 minutes to virtually anywhere in the High Country.
This house provided the perfect mountain weekend for myself and several of my friends. The quiet mountain neighborhood where the house is located offered seclusion while being only minutes from Sugar Mountain, Banner Elk and Boone. It was very easy to spend a day on the slopes and then come home and unwind by enjoying the beautiful mountain views from one of the two back decks. The selling proponent for this house, however, was the owner, Mark. I spent several weeks dealing with rental companies and other owners and none of them were as responsive, reliable or informative as Mark was. He answered every one of my phone calls and returned any email within the hour. If you are looking to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and explore the NC high country, I would say look no further than the Appalachian Dream.
Great location, 20 minutes to Grand Father Mountain, 15 minutes to Boone-centrally located. House was perfect for our family of 5 and 2 Grandparents! Everything you need is in this place and it was neat and tidy as well! Mark was very easy to work with and answered questions very quickly! Look no further, book now!
This house made for the perfect fall getaway. The kitchen, bathrooms, and bedrooms were all well stocked. It was a private, rustic setting but still close by to plenty of activities, such as hiking trails, Grandfather Mountain, and several wineries. The hot tub was the perfect way to relax at the end of each day.
The owner made check in and check out super easy. We would come back, for sure.
We had a blast! The weather was nice. The views are lovely. I bet when the leaves are off the trees it is even more beautiful! The house was nice and clean. I was impressed with all the cooking utensils in the kitchen. Also towels, toilet paper and other necessities were very well stocked. I didn't expect that. The young kids enjoyed the ping pong and pool. We all enjoyed the jacuzzi, which also was nice and clean. The pups loved being on the deck. One note : the Keurig 2.0 takes very specific cups. Because I brought the kind for the older model, we had to use the other coffee maker, not a huge deal but if someone asks, they need to know that. I didn't snoop around enough to see if you had the specific K-cups, the good ole Maxwell House served us all just fine. We are already talking about coming up sometime during the winter to go tubing. I bet the fireplace when lit is very inviting. We were trying to figure out how we would fit 4 more (2 adults, 2 kids) people in there. I think we could do it. I enjoyed dealing with Mark. He made it easy and seamless. He responded within an hour to my initial inquiry. Handled the lease and financials quickly. He wanted me to call upon arrival to make sure everything was as expected. It was! We hiked Grandfather Mountain, went out to eat and shop in Blowing Rock, went apple picking and did a little nostalgia tour through Boone and App State. GPS is right on target, and when Siri says you have arrived, you just have to look ahead a little bit. Mark had warned me of that, so it was very easy. You can just see the very beginning of the leaves turning. Great way to spend a long weekend. Definitely give this house a try!
Thanks to Mark for sharing his wonderful cabin with us. The setting was great and private, even though other houses were around the treed area. The home accommodated our group of seven splendidly. The three levels created spaces for the group to be together while also creating a way not to be in each other's space if you needed a little me time. Each level had sitting areas, eating areas, a bedroom, with tv's in every bedroom and sitting areas. There was a game area, pool table with ping pong, and a hot tub. I have never been in a rental that is set up to be so accommodating with things that are in shortage in other rentals, such as plenty of towels, toilet paper, throws, extra pillows, and covers. Also the kitchen was fully furnished for use. There were even spices, etc in the kitchen so if you forgot anything, you were covered. Batteries for the remote, look in the drawer. I called Mark the first day in the cabin and It was like he was sitting by the phone for any need. He helped me and the rest of the week, all was great. He called me toward the end of our time in the cabin, just to check in and see if all was okay and any recommendations I might have. One recommendation that I would give to anyone reading this is to get to know Mark and go and enjoy his wonderful vacation home. You will not be disappointed. I hope to return one day. We felt like we just needed more time. We hiked, biked, went kayaking, and sight seeing. Yes, a few more days would be great! Thanks again Mark. It was a true pleasure!
This cabin is wonderful. Its pantry is well stocked, the furnishings are beautiful and comfortable. Despite the rainy weather we had a lot of fun and special family time playing pool, ping pong and lounging in the hot tub. Mark was a pleasure to work with and he made sure that we had everything we'd need for an awesome trip.
