If a quiet and private location is what you desire then the Ryder Retreat is the villa for you. Located in the neighborhood of Long Bay, our newly built 3 bedroom upside down house is nestled in the hills above Long Bay Beach. All modern conveniences are at your fingertips. The upstairs offers an open and airy floor plan where the kitchen, dining area and living room are centrally located. Two sliders open up to the second floor deck which overlooks the pool, jacuzzi and fitness studio. It also provides a beautiful view of the ocean. The kitchen is equiped with granite counter tops and stainless steel appliances. A wine/beverage cooler is built into the cabinetry for all your entertaining needs . A flat screen TV and an indoor/outdoor speaker system with an Ipod docking station is available for your pleasure. All of the bedrooms are located downstairs with easy access to the pool and fitness studio.
This island has something for everyone! There are so many water activities to take advantage of: snorkeling, scuba diving, parasailing, jet skiing, kayaking, deep-sea & bone fishing to name a few. Horseback riding, golf, shopping in Grace Bay, and even a mini-golf course are all located minutes away from our villa.
There is a casino on the island as well as a movie theater. If you would prefer to explore the Turks and Cacios, you can take a day trip by ferry to the other islands. Leeward Marina is just down the road.
Iguana Island, the Conch Farm & 'The Hole' are some of the attractions you may enjoy visiting.
For your entertaining needs, the main grocery store Graceway better known as IGA is located on Leeward Highway about 10 minutes away from the villa and its new store Graceway Gourmet is minutes away from our home as you head into Grace Bay. There is a full service pharmacy and bank located in that area as well.
Please visit our website for more information/pictures regarding our property.
This is my second trip to the Ryder Retreat and it is an absolute paradise. Watching the sunrise every morning over the pool was the best way to start the day. The home gym is fantastic. I used it every day. The house is spacious and very comfortable. I recommend the Ryder Retreat to anyone, whether it's a family or a couple...you will love it!
My husband and I, our baby, and another family, with their 2 babies, recently stayed at the Ryder retreat in April 2016. This villa is very spacious - despite three crying babies, we could escape to the upstairs or downstairs for privacy and quiet.
This villa is very well kept, clean, and modern. The caretaker Shawn was extremely friendly and helpful. One day we lost our car keys and he came to drive us to the rental car company to get another set. The fact that linens, bath towels and beach towels are all provided was very convenient. The villa had all the amenities we needed for a comfortable stay: the kitchen is fully equipped (pots, pans, coffee maker, blender - the only thing missing is a kettle!), there is ensuite laundry, several bathrooms for multiple guests, and the pool was lovely with recliners all around. We are fitness fanatics so the gym was an incredible bonus!! It is also fully equipped with several weight machines, free weights, etc. The only thing lacking is cardio equipment as the bike wasn't working, but that's not a big deal as we could go for an early morning run!
We went to Turks for the kiteboarding on Long Bay Beach so we spent many days there. We were hoping that the villa would be a little bit closer (that would be the only fault I can find with this place) as it was a good 12 minute drive, whereas it would have been nice to have something walking distance. But the views from the villa are beautiful as it sits on top of a hill so we enjoyed watching the sunrises.
Despite the heat, we managed to keep cool just by opening the doors and windows to let the breeze through. We only used the air conditioning in the bedrooms at nighttime and turned it off during the day when we went out.
Lorri and Brian, the owners, were very responsive and accommodating. They allowed us to extend our stay at the last minute (when we realized the wind was picking up for kitesurfing!).
We happily give an EXCELLENT recommendation if you are considering this villa for your stay in Turks!
My husband and I had the chance to stay at the Ryder Retreat with 3 college-aged kids. The house is beautiful and well-maintained. My son enjoyed use of the gym, which was pretty elaborate and included weights and an exercise bike.
We loved the pool, too and the view from the terrace and the pool was stunning. There was also a viewing deck across the street that we used to take pictures of the sunset.
One of the best things we liked about it was the location. It was close to the beautiful beach and excitement of Grace Bay, but I loved being on a quieter part of the island. The first day we walked to Long Bay Beach, which was about a 10 minute walk. After that, we drove two minutes and parked on the side of the road. The beach on our end was empty each day. Further down the beach were large homes with people occasionally out on the beach. Having been to most of the Turks and Caicos beaches, this one was one of our favorites. Caicos Marina was also nearby and we were able to rent jet skis through them.
We considered Taylor Bay/Sapodilla Bay area and those beaches, but the advantage to being on the Long Bay Beach end of the island is that you are about 10 minutes from the best restaurants in Grace Bay. We highly recommend Coyaba and Coco Bistro. Make sure you make reservations before you travel as they book up, especially Coco Bistro. One of the neighbors (who was so friendly) also suggested Mr. Grouper, which we really liked, too.
We shopped at the IGA and Graceway Gourmet and had all of our breakfasts and many of our lunches in the villa.
One morning we had the local spa, Spa Tropique, come and give us all massages by the pool.
The Ryders were wonderful and easy to work with and Shawn, the caretaker, brought us to the house from the airport and was very accessible if we needed him. The Ryders give you a cell phone that we used to make local calls to the restaurants. Can't recommend this villa highly enough!
We just visited Ryder Retreat with 3 kids (aged 12, 14, 16). I won't go into details of the villa except to say that it is beautiful and the pictures of the pool/vista don't do it justice. However, I would love to say that it was a great place. The house was well equipped and pool warm and clean. The views from the back porch were beautiful! A huge highlight was meeting Shawn, the caretaker, who the owner had meet us at the airport where we rented a car. Having never driven on the left side of the road before (easy-peasy on this island), it was great to be able to just follow him to the villa. Shawn also pulled over and pointed out things he felt we should know (ie. GraceWay Grocery store and "the hole"). He was absolutely wonderful at walking us through the villa and showing us how to work everything. He made sure we had his cell phone # and when we called later in the week with a question he was most cheerful and helpful! The owners were wonderful, and obviously were focused on providing a great visit for all of their renters. This was a PERFECT rental and HIGHLY recommended for anyone.
We have travelled to many Caribbean destinations, Hawaii and South East Asia and Turks is the best place on earth in our opinion.
The Ryder Retreat was perfect for our family of (2 adults and 2 children). The pool was awesome, the house was clean and well equipped and the yard is amazing. My husband and I enjoyed the gym every morning then a refreshing swim. The house is only 5 minutes from everything by car.
We will definitely come back to the Ryder Retreat.
Thanks Ryder family for sharing your home with us!
Our group of 6 (2 couples and 2 kids) stayed at Ryder Retreat for 10 days. While the pictures were beautiful, the reality was even better than we expected. The house had plenty of room for all of us so we never felt crowded. Everything was clean and the house was well stocked with kitchen amenities, sheets and towels. Opening the windows and sliding doors provided excellent airflow during the day and the ceiling fans and windows kept the bedrooms comfortable at night, we never needed the air conditioning. We were pleasantly surprised that the pool was larger and deeper than it appears in the pictures. We enjoyed lounging on the patio and cooling off in the pool when we were not out sightseeing and exploring the island's beaches and restaurants. The house is not on the beach but it's just a quick drive to Long Bay. While we were there it was very calm; perfect floating conditions.
Lorri, the owner, was always accessible and pleasant to deal with. Shawn, the caretaker, met us at the airport and waited with us while we sorted out a snafu at the rental car company. He got us situated at the house and came back a few times during our stay to check up on us and remove the trash. He was always a pleasure.
We would not hesitate to stay here again or recommend it to friends. We had a fantastic stay at Ryder Retreat. Thank you Lorri and Brian,
Ciara, Bryan, Dave, Tiffany, Logan and Ohwen
Are you kidding me?? What is not to love about this place??!! Our first adventure on the beautiful islands of Turks & Caicos couldn't have been more perfect. The "Ryder Retreat" was our home-away-from-home, and this property was everything we needed and much more. This "upside-down" house (meaning the living and kitchen areas are on the second floor to maximize the views) is beautifully decorated in Caribbean colors and furnishings, and immaculately clean. The first floor bedrooms flank a tiled hallway with access directly to the pool/patio area, and have both a Jack-and-Jill bath as well as another hallway bath and laundry room. The upper level living room/kitchen has an open, airy feel with a deck that overlooks the waters of Long Bay and the tropically landscaped property with pool, hot tub, and pool house-exercise building. The owners are wonderful to work with and have arranged caretakers for upkeep of the house, pool, landscaping, etc. so we felt very safe and attended to (not to mention if any of them were around they were SUPER friendly)!! Every detail was considered to make us feel comfortable and welcome. This house is not directly on the beach, but a short drive to several beaches on all sides of the island. After spending some time along the busy streets and beach of Grace Bay, we were glad to escape back to our own private, quiet paradise. Car rental is needed to access all the great places this island has to offer. Although we had never had to drive on the "opposite" side of the road before this trip, we were pleasantly surprised at how easily we adapted, and we had absolutely no difficulties...so get a car and GO! Unlike many of the other islands we have been to, this island felt very safe, and we explored many places. Some of our favorites were: Leeward Beach, Coral Gardens/Bight Reef (great snorkeling right from the beach!!), Long Bay Beach to watch kite boarders, da Conch Shack (GREAT conch fritters!), Boogaloo's, Coco Bistro, and Opus. Also toured the Conch Farms and took the ferry to North & Middle Caicos. If you rent this property, you'll feel like you are a homeowner here, rather than just a tourist renting out a hotel room! We hope to return soon. Enjoy!
Long Bay Hills is minutes away from Grace Bay where you will find some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. The white fine sand is great for sandcastle building while the turquoise waters are a spectaclur site! The coral reef that surrounds the Turks and Caicos make snorkeling & suba diving popular activities for everyone.
Renting a car is the best way to see what Providenciales has to offer. It allows you the freedom to explore the island's community and visit the fabulous restaurants and attractions located across the island.
