Hello, I enjoy renting my bungalow on a short term basis. The location is very convenient for guests visiting families in Rockridge.
The Owner purchased this house in 1979
This is close to College Avenue, Market Hall, Piedmont Avenue, Sunday Farmer's Market, Frog Parks, BART, all freeways.
Kaiser Hospital,UC Berkeley,Downtown Oakland all freeways.
Spent a week in March in Oakland California and stayed in the bungalow. Convenient location with a 10 min walk to Rockridge Bart Station. Many cute restaurants and stores there and easy access to SF. Bright and spacious but very cheaply furnished which makes you feel like you are staying in a college dorm. Decorative pillows on couch were gross and felt unclean. Spacious kitchen and small patio nice enough for coffee and reading the paper in the morning. The washer and dryer were in a dank and messy basement with wet dirt floor and rigged extension chords dangling from the ceiling where lights, washer and dryer were plugged into. Not cool.
Located on the off-ramp of a freeway and noisy throughout the night. Bring earplugs. Otherwise, stay was good with prompt communication from the owner.
Could use some updates for the price.
Biggest frustration: being given incorrect information by the owner about furnishings in the house. Because the information in the Home Away write-up was ambiguous, I specifically asked in an email if there were two queen beds; the owner said yes. Wrong! There was one queen bed (lumpy), one full bed and one twin bed. Our bedroom had only one electric outlet and one small end table on which to set things. Some peeling paint and missing slats in the blinds.
Good features: great location, cute vintage house with spacious kitchen and living area.
This is the prefect location of you don't want to drive all over SF or the Bay Area. The place itself is comfortable and our kids love the space to run around and the beds. There's a park and trail 20 steps away and they're are plenty of restaurants, especially Zachary's. This was far the best we had stayed and we will definitely come back next year.
This house is located halfway between Rockridge and Temescal - two great Oakland neighborhoods. Very walkable and easy access to BART but it sits at the bottom of a highway exit ramp and on a busy corner, so bring your earplugs. The house itself shows its age, but was fine for our purposes. (Kind of like that first apartment you had after college.) Good WIFI, big kitchen, large living room with TV, lots of sun. The bedding could use an update and there was no tea kettle or hair dryer. In sum: a great value and everything you really must have in a vacation rental. We'd be happy to stay there again.
We stayed in the house for 5 nights, and found everything fine. The rooms are comfortable, and there is a nice outdoor area with a barbecue. We didn't use the kitchen much, but everything necessary was provided. Plenty of towels, lots of storage space. The garage was big enough to hold a full-size car. The location is ideal, walking distance to the BART station, and also to some good restaurants - especially Burma Superstar, don't miss it! The highway is close by, which makes getting out and about by car very easy, but does also give rise to some early-morning road noise; the owner has plans to reduce this.
This sunny house is in a fabulous location for a family stay. Only a short walk through the beautiful neighborhood to the BART and Rockridge Center, full of unique, charming shops and great food. The Rockridge Marketplace is perfect for grabbing coffee and delicious pastries, wine, cheese, and specialty items. The Rockridge Cafe is also great for hearty breakfast. On Sundays, there is a terrific farmer's market just down the street. The house is very clean and our host kindly left cookies for our arrival. However, the bedrooms are very sparsely furnished--no dressers, but flimsy hanging cubbies in the closet, and in the second bedroom, there wasn't even a night table. The bathroom is older, so not a lot of room. The kitchen feels like it needs some updating, i.e. a Keurig coffee maker would be more welcoming than an unwashed Mr. Coffee carafe. For convenience and space, this house is a good choice. There's a graduate housing feel to it, which I wouldn't mind if I wasn't looking for a bit more pampering on my vacation.
