The studio has a large living area that is light and airy. There is a view of the Puget Sound and Olympic Mountains. In the front alcove is a queen-sized Sleep Number bed. The studio is great for one couple or a family with one child young enough to sleep in our pack 'n' play, which we can provide upon request. There is a tv with 140+ satellite channels and DVD player, and a desk where you can set up your laptop to take advantage of our high-speed wireless internet.
In the kitchen, you will find a refrigerator, oven/stove, coffee maker, and microwave. The cabinets are filled with all the dishes and equipment you will need to prepare a snack or meal. We stock coffee and some pantry items to get you started.
The bathroom includes all the necessities. It has a shower only, no bathtub.
The studio occupies the second story of a rambling Craftsman-style home. The studio and main floor have separate entries and are completely closed off from one another inside. Your entry is up a flight of stairs in the backyard. Other guests us the main floor and a separate cottage on the property and share the yard space. The yard is a pleasant place to relax with an outdoor table and charcoal grill.
Although you may feel like you’re worlds away from it all when tucked inside the quiet, peaceful studio, you will actually be just 2-1/2 blocks from the heart of our neighborhood. Walk up the street to the West Seattle Junction to find great restaurants, coffee shops, shopping, a pharmacy, grocery stores, and nightlife.
Our neighborhood, West Seattle is also home to Seattle’s finest waterfront areas: Alki Beach and Lincoln Park. Alki provides summer fun and excellent views of downtown; Lincoln Park is great for a hike in the woods or a dip in the saltwater swimming pool. We recommend riding the Elliot Bay Water Taxi from Seacrest Pier to downtown Seattle.
By car, downtown Seattle is just 10 minutes. Or, another great hassle-free option is to hop on a metro bus and ride just 15-20 minutes.
Having both owned houses before we married in February of 2009, we decided to try the vacation rental business rather than sell either. Our first guests were Laura's family, in town for the wedding. Since then, with Joe's work as an entertainer and our joint project of raising our two sons, we are plenty busy! However, we take pride in putting our visitors first and have really enjoyed meeting our guests and sharing the city we love with them.
Laura and Joe Ross purchased this studio in 1990
Very neat and clean. Had everything that we needed. And, the location was perfect. Close enough to walk to our son and daughter-in-law's home. We would stay again. So sorry about the mix up on our departure day. And, thank you for the new battery in the smoke alarm.
The Studio was clean and well maintained. They have been careful to think of anything you might want to have while you are staying there. The kitchen was complete with small appliances, cookware and dishes. The street was quiet and only a few blocks away from an area of West Seattle called the Junction, which had a wide variety of locally owned shops and restaurants. A couple of the best meals we had were at a Turkish Restaurant called Ephesus and at the more casual, Seattle Fish Company. We were lucky to have perfect weather for our entire stay so we never spent any time reading or watching the movies that were on the shelves. There was no air conditioning but we found out quickly that it cooled off every evening and were fine just using fans. I live in Minnesota so was envious of the wonderful plants that thrive in the yards in Seattle.
The Starlight Studio was almost exactly as described. My boyfriend and I stayed for 4 nights, and the studio apartment had plenty of space for the two of us. The owners went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. They even include some amenities that you typically don't think of. For example, a box fan! We didn't use the kitchen much. However, it seemed to have everything that you'd need (less a dishwasher). We had rented a car for the first two days of our trip to be able to go explore places other than downtown, and the street parking was very convenient. We're from Chicago, so we're used to it being a huge pain to find a parking place; so we were very surprised by how simple it was! The final two days of our trip, however, we relied solely on public transportation. This was where we came across a slight bump in the road. There are no taxis/Ubers/Lyfts/etc in West Seattle. The water taxi, although relatively close by, was not within walking distance. The buses are nearly nonexistent. Again, being from Chicago, public transportation is a breeze. This was not the case. Overall, I would recommend The Starlight Studio! However, I would also advise against relying on public transportation as we did. We, of course, made do with what we had. It was not impossible to get around by any means. We just did not have the ease of the public transportation that we're used to.
The studio was clean and well stocked and great for a small family vacation. Location is within walking distance to central west Seattle and a great coffee shop and amazing bakery.
I recently stayed in the Starlght Studio for a few days. The property exceeded my expectations! The studio was clean, quiet, and homey. The bed was very comfy and the studio is more spacious than an average 1 bedroom apartment. Everything you need for a comfortable stay is provided. Perfect place to stay for work or a getaway.
The place was small and quaint. I would even recommend it for a long term rental. It was in walking distance of California Ave. and to where we needed to go. The TV was a bit difficult to operate, but we were able to watch DVDs. The only thing that I would say is that the kitchen appliances and cabinets are a bit outdated, and it took me quite some time to cook eggs in the morning. It was a bit tight with the tenants downstairs and another place in the backyard. I would definitely stay there again though.
