Welcome to our beautiful home in the coast mountains of Oregon.
John purchased this house in 1976
We bought the property as an escape. Yet it's close to the beach and Portland.
Seclusion. Beautiful setting. Very relaxing. Love going to sleep listening to the stream.
Great location for travel to Oregon wine country, the beach and the city of Portland.
The cars on the property take away from the forest experience, and I think some comfort and aesthetic upgrades as far as bedding would add to the overall look of the awesome house, but overall it was well worth the trip and the experience. I thank the Marlings for allowing us to visit their forest home!!
We loved the location of this house we wanted to stay close to the coast for the 4th but not pay an arm and a leg! We've used homeaway before and will again this place was secluded, spacious and well kept. Water is from a well so it's slightly discolored and gets air in the line but not a big issue. The house looked clean it smelled a little musty but we opened the windows and it aired out quickly. The beds were comfy the bathrooms clean we didn't find it to be a big deal to wash linens as we do this at our own cabin. We loved being able to spread out and not be on top of each other and my kids and nieces had a great time exploring out back! (Ages 12-5) all in all we would highly recommend and we would be willing to stay again if we are in the area! Thanks for letting us into your home and make memories we won't soon forget!
This is a convenient place to stay when in the Portland area if you want to be out of the hubbub of the city. Convenient to areas of siteseeing, shopping and good places to eat. The cabin is roomy and has 4 bedrooms for room to spread out. Don't want to eat out, there is a kitchen for cooking and a grill for grilling. The stream in the back makes a nice back drop noise for sleeping when the windows are open. Deck off of the kitchen and living rooms make wonderful places to sip coffee or sit in a quiet place for reading or just enjoying nature.
It has been five years since we rented this cabin but this year we will be returning in April. We are very excited. We fell in love with the cabin, the grounds and the location the first time we were there. We feel as if we are coming home to a second home. For those of you looking for a great place to stay this should definitely be on your list. The cabin is large and roomy. Unlike a hotel, you can stretch out, get comfortable and use all of the amenities to suite your needs. We loved having the choice to eat out or cook in. We combined two families (4 adults) last time and this year we are adding one more adult with us, comfortably. I am so looking forward to coffee in the quiet morning on the deck. On a scale of 1 - 5 this cabin is on the upper end of 5 for us. Great thanks to the owners that share this opportunity with others.
I hate to leave a bad review, but if only we'd known before hand what we were getting ourselves into...The September 7, 2014 review is dead on. This property definitely has potential, but it needs love. It is clearly time to bring in a property manager to make sure it is ready for guests in that it is clean and things aren't broken. Walking into cobwebs and daddy long legs at 1:00 a.m. on our arrival creeped out the teens, that and the musty smell. There were floaters in the toilets which turns out is algae from the toilet tanks. Bedspreads are torn and stained. Pillows drooled all over. The master bedroom closet door was off and inside the closet. The master bedroom door handle was loose and the door didn't close. The water dispenser was leaking. The tubs didn't drain and my husband had to use a coat hanger to clean out the drains of hair. And the teens claimed their hair smelled like chicken broth after taken a shower.
I think what upset me most was in reviewing the guest book there are complaints about maintenance and cleanliness dating back to 2011.
The owner did refund a portion of each day's rent, but personally I would rather have had a clean home to return to each day after moving our daughter into Pacific University.
I don't know What the last persons problem was, but we had a fantastic time!! We found clean sheets folded in the closets of every bedroom closet and put them on B4 we left and had our used ones washed and in the dryer. All very simple and efficient we thought.
This is a Private Secluded place on acreage in the woods, where you see the CREEK from almost every room! The spring fed pond had a fountain going when we were there and we could turn it off if we wanted to. It was COOL!! A couple of ducks were in there one day!!
We loved the location. It was half way between Portland and the Ocean/Beach. (40-60min either way) We could go either way for the day. Its also close to the Wilson river for fishing and hiking which we love. Our daughter goes to Pacific University in Forest Grove so it was perfect for us all to get together.
This place is not a five star hotel, but that is NOT what we wanted, but it IS a comfortable, country, fun place to stay and "chill" with lots of room and fireplaces and a wood stove... The owners were most accommodating.
We highly recommend this place and we WILL be back again!..
Great location for access to Oregon Wine Country, Beach and City.
