I love a clean house as much as the next person ... and even more than most people. But I think it should be included in the rental fee -- not charged as an add-on. When you leave the house in good shape, we won't charge the $100 cleaning fee -- how refreshing!

A few steps from the beach and swimming on Big Austin Creek, “The Dreamery” is that rare vacation home where you feel like an honored guest. Our attention to detail is legendary, and seeks to delight you in every possible way.

TASTEFULLY DECORATED with CRAFTSMAN detail and JAPANESE art, this lovely property features a well-equipped kitchen, a luxury bathroom with new radiant-heat floors, comfy beds, romantic wood-burning fireplace, a hot-water outdoor shower, a star-gazing spa/hot tub. modern amenities, calming Japanese garden, a huge deck, and -- most important -- an intimacy with nature.

PICTURE WINDOWS frame tranquil views of water and redwood forests from virtually every room. Light, airy bedrooms open onto a spacious private deck overlooking the beach, creek, and a great spot for wading and swimming.

THE 1/2 ACRE of PRIVACY is graced with soaring old-growth redwoods, lots of light, and a serene Japanese garden.

The Dreamery is located in the Russian River/Sonoma Coast resort area -- 98 minutes from the Golden Gate Bridge (I timed it).

You'll be near world-class wineries, restaurants, spectacular scenery, Armstrong Woods Redwood Preserve (tallest tree: 310 ft; oldest 1,400 years), Northwood golf course, Jenner By-the-Sea, and the breathtaking Sonoma Coast beaches.

_________ DETAILED DESCRIPTION ________

Gently soak away urban stress in the luxury 'Hot Spring' spa with therapeutic 'hydro massage'.

Most people do in fact shower in the nude (heh, heh) … but rarely outdoors. Now you can with the private outdoor shower. With both hot and cold running water, you can shower in nature among the towering Sequoias.

A single-level bungalow, the Dreamery is set on a curve in Big Austin Creek -- one of the cleanest waterways in Calif.. The year-round creek is home to giant blue heron, egrets, river otter, and ducks. This is the most beautiful spot on Austin Creek. It's an easy 1/2 mile walk or bike ride to the village of Cazadero where you will find a real 'Country Store.' A coffee shop/bakery is even closer. A short scenic drive brings you to the Sonoma beaches and coastline where the Russian River meets the mighty Pacific Ocean. And even if the coast is socked in with FOG, you’ll be protected in the sunny “banana belt” micro-climate with all-day sun (Feb. to Nov.).

The Dreamery also features an in-home computer for guest use. You'll have free high-speed cable Internet and Wi-Fi for your wireless laptop and devices.

For fire and safety reasons, smoking is NOT ALLOWED ANYWHERE on the property -- including outside !!!

If you or anyone in your party smokes, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE find another place.

NOTE: May not be suitable for children under three years of age.

Alaska/Horizon Airlines has daily non-stops into Santa Rosa from Los Angeles, Orange County, Seattle, San Diego, and Portland. The property is 45 minutes from the Santa Rosa airport. San Francisco International and Oakland airports are 2 hours away. San Jose airport, 3 hours.

If you're looking for a peaceful, private retreat from which to explore this gorgeous part of the universe, it doesn't get any better than 'The Dreamery.”

About Andrew (or Russian River Vacation Homes)

The first time I drove along Big Austin Creek I was smitten – kinda like how you feel when you first fall in love with your mate. I searched for a year until I found the sweetest spot offering views up and down the year-round creek. The setting is a sunny and private waterfront opening in the coastal forest. The 1/2 acre property is graced with a pebble beach and 600-year-young redwoods. I named it “Sequoia Beach Dreamery.” Guests LOVE this place. And their guest book comments remind me how much I enjoy both the peaceful setting and its closeness to all that this magical part of northern California has to offer. Chances are you’ll come to think of it as your own dreamy getaway. Indeed, think of it as your NEW BACK YARD. - Andrew, Santa Rosa, CA

Andrew (or Russian River Vacation Homes) purchased this house in 1997

Why Andrew (or Russian River Vacation Homes) chose Sonoma County

I first looked at properties right on the Sonoma coast, but I found them to be windy and foggy too much of the time. But the Dreamery is in a protected 'banana belt' micro-climate -- just one coastal range removed from the ocean. I chose Cazadero because it’s off the beaten path, yet close enough to enjoy the coastline (15 min), the Russian River (10 min), and wine country attractions. Santa Rosa airport is 45 min. away and it's only 98 min. to the Golden Gate Bridge (I timed it!). You'll be close to world-class amenities and everything this eco-adventure region has to offer.

What makes this house unique

I must have been an innkeeper in a previous life because I love stewarding this tranquil retreat for folks who want to slow down, reconnect with nature, and share intimate time with a loved one. We’ve given special attention to creating a calming atmosphere with extra touches that offer you an ongoing sense of “Greeting.” The goal is to delight our guests who seek a break from the Hurley-Burly of the fast-paced urban scene. Visit the Dreamery, fill your lungs with fresh country air, and feel the Calm.

Guestbook comments from the owner

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon. We loved the fact that it is so close to San Francisco, where we live, but felt like it was a world away. It was so very relaxing to spend time every day in the hot tub and watch hawks soar above the trees. Everything was well stocked from the kitchen to the book shelves. One of the best parts was that it is a pet-free rental, very hard to find, but very important when someone has an allergy.

An Excellent place to renew your soul and body

  • 5 of 5

We had the best time ever. This place changed me; it gave my spirit calm.

My husband and my daughter connected with each other and to nature. This place is magical and all things that are good for the soul.

Let us come again, I ask the Universe

Romantic, calming, spiritual.

  • 5 of 5

This place was so fabulous in February! It was cold and rainy but after hiking we warmed ourselves in the hot tub (with and without the umbrella provided) and rewarmed our feet on the heated bathroom floor as we showered. Beds were wonderful with great pillows and high-end linens. The kitchen is small but adorable and easy to use. I appreciated the little notes left around the house so we could easily understand how everything works. We only spent a week here but I felt that I could've stayed for a year. His garden alone was worth the visit! (Plenty of music, movies, books, etc.) The people in the surrounding towns are the friendliest in the world. Thank you, Andrew, for provided us with a spiritual reawakening and a romantic week of quiet bliss!

Owner's Response: Jan and David, If I tried to describe the kind of experience the Dreamery is designed for, I would simply cut and paste your review !! Thank you for your visit. I hope you'll return to this special little bend in the creek again ... perhaps to enjoy a different season. Meanwhile, many blessings to you and all you love. PS. The steelhead salmon returned to the creek over the last few days. Check out the photos on Sequoia Beach Dreamery's Facebook page:

Lovely, relaxing retreat with great attention to detail

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at this cabin. It was cozy, comfy and special. The setting was gorgeous along the creek, nestled in the sequoias. The cabin itself was clean and nicely appointed with a great outdoor hot tub and shower. We appreciated the unique Japanese decor and homey touches, like the fence covered in heart-shaped rocks. We'd love to stay here again someday.

Owner's Response: Dear Mary, Cory, Judy, and Jack , Thank you for your visit to the Dreamery. I hope you returned home safely with some fond memories of your time here. It sounds from your guest book comments that you really made the most of your time by enjoying the Sonoma Coast, dining at local restaurants, and wine-tasting at wineries. Thank you also for leaving the cottage in good shape. Most vacation homes charge a cleaning fee. Because you took good care of the Dreamery, you saved the $100 cleaning fee. Please know that you will be welcomed back. To make your return a little easier, I am offering a Virtual Gift Card worth $50 on a future visit of 2 days or longer, or a $100 discount for a visit of 1 week or longer. Simply enter promo code “DREAMERY 50” or “DREAMERY 100” in the comments section when making your reservation and you’ll receive the discount. You can use the promo codes for yourself, or feel free to share them with someone who would also appreciate some serenity on the banks of Austin Creek. Also, if you are on Facebook, please “Like” the Dreamery’s Facebook page. It’s a good way to learn about improvements, events, and special offers. Wishing you Peace and Joy. The redwoods and creek await your next visit. - Andrew

My absolute favorite place!

  • 5 of 5

I stayed at the Dreamery 5 times now. I was there in May, July, November, December. Each season has its charms. I've been there on a rainy weened and on a sunny one. Loved them both.

This is by far my favorite booking on VRBO. Everything works for me - part of Sonoma, close to awesome wineries and redwoods but removed enough to be out of the main, touristy circuit.

Most times I don't want to leave the premises once there - this place is magical. Very private, relaxing and just fabulous. There's nothing I would change. The owner paid so much attention to each detail - from the awesome outdoor shower that seems to be part of a huge redwood tree, to the carefully tended for Japanese garden. to the birdseed that you can leave on the railing to attract awesome birds, to the relaxing music and the nice fireplace in the living room. The creek and beach are awesome. So are the starts you can look at from the hot tub! Oh, did I mention that the beds are just perfect? And that you will find a nice bottle of local wine in the kitchen, on your arrival?

I can't wait for my next stay at the Dreamery!

Owner's Response: Oh Adelia, thank you! It's wonderful that you've experienced the Dreamery during different times of the year. I totally agree ... each season brings its unique character -- the quality of light, the changing colors of the creek and foliage, the way the air feels, and more. All the things you mention remind me of why I love it here. It's my goal to make the Dreamery available as a peaceful retreat and a reminder of the calm that comes with being close to Nature. It sounds from your review that we've succeeded in some small way. - Namaste to you and all that you love.

Wonderful riverfront getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Our family loved ringing in the new year at the dreamery. The cabin was cozy and had everything we needed for a relaxing weekend. The kids especially loved putting out birdseed to watch the jays and chickadees on the deck and collecting rocks by the river. The grow ups loved the natural setting to disconnect and, of course, the hot tub! We hiked to the nearby waterfall and even spotted some trout in the swimming hole. We hope we can return in summer to take a dip!

Quaint and cozy in serene setting

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed for a few days over the winter break. The house was cozy and warm and the setting very peaceful. Too cold to swim this time of year but the river was beautiful to look at from all over the house, the deck and especially the hot jacuzzi. The house is unique and charming and obvious the owners take pride in it. Thank you for the winter retreat and hope to be back soon!

Owner's Response: Ha! Southern California softies (!) ... next time bring your wet suit. There's no excuse for not jumping in the creek, even in December ... (just kidding). Alex, thank you so much for your visit. Wishing you, your family, and all you love a great 2017. (Maybe come back during Spring Break to dip your toes. I'm sure you'll appreciate it then ... heh, heh.)
