A few steps from the beach and swimming on Big Austin Creek, “The Dreamery” is that rare vacation rental where you feel like an honored guest.
Tastefully decorated with Craftsman detail and Japanese art, the interior features a gourmet kitchen with a 5-burner gas range, romantic wood-burning fireplace, and rich redwood panels.
Picture windows frame tranquil views of nature -- offering water views from virtually every room. Light, airy bedrooms open onto a spacious private deck overlooking the beach, creek, and a great spot for wading and swimming.
The 1/2-acre of privacy is graced with soaring old-growth redwoods that predate Columbus, lots of light, and a calming Japanese garden.

You'll be near world-class wineries, restaurants, spectacular scenery, Northwood golf course, Armstrong Woods Redwood Preserve (tallest tree: 310 ft; oldest 1,400 years), Jenner by-the-Sea, and the breathtaking Sonoma Coast beaches.
Outdoor activities abound in this eco-adventure paradise. However, once you get to the peaceful setting, you may not want to leave (ever!).
SPECIAL: In addition to low rates, we will NOT charge the usual $100 cleaning fee if you leave the house reasonably clean (every little bit counts these days).

PARADISE GROVE -- PEACEFUL SERENITY
A single-level bungalow, the Dreamery is set on a curve in Big Austin Creek -- one of the cleanest waterways in Calif.. The year-round creek is home to giant blue heron, egrets, river otter, and ducks. This is the most beautiful spot on Austin Creek. It's an easy 1/2 mile walk or bike ride to the village of Cazadero where you will find a real 'Country Store.' A coffee shop/bakery is even closer. A short scenic drive brings you to the Sonoma beaches and coastline where the Russian River meets the mighty Pacific Ocean. And even if the coast is socked in with FOG, you’ll be protected in the sunny “banana belt” micro-climate with all-day sun (Feb. to Nov.).

The first time I drove along Big Austin Creek I was smitten – kinda like how you feel when you first fall in love with your mate. (Remember THAT feeling?) I searched for a year until I found the sweetest spot offering views up and down the year-round creek. The setting is a sunny and private waterfront opening in the coastal forest. The 1/2 acre property is graced with a pebble beach and 600-year-young redwoods. I named it “Sequoia Beach Dreamery.” Guests LOVE this place. And their guest book comments remind me how much I enjoy both the peaceful setting and its closeness to all that this magical part of northern California has to offer. Chances are you’ll come to think of it as your own dreamy getaway. Indeed, think of it as your new back yard. - Andrew, Santa Rosa, CA
Andrew (or Russian River Vacation Homes) purchased this house in 1997
I first looked at properties right on the Sonoma coast, but I found them to be windy and foggy too much of the time. But the Dreamery is in a protected 'banana belt' micro-climate -- just one coastal range removed from the ocean. I chose Cazadero because it’s off the beaten path, yet close enough to enjoy the coastline (15 min), the Russian River (10 min), and wine country attractions. Santa Rosa airport is 45 min. away and it's only 98 min. to the Golden Gate Bridge (I timed it!). You'll be close to world-class amenities and everything this eco-adventure region of N. Calif. has to offer.
I must have been an innkeeper in a previous life because I love stewarding this tranquil retreat for folks who want to slow down, reconnect with nature, and share intimate time with a loved one. We’ve given special attention to creating a calming atmosphere with extra touches that offer you an ongoing sense of “Greeting.” The goal is to delight our guests who seek a peaceful break from the Hurley-Burly of the fast-paced urban scene. Visit the Dreamery, fill your lungs with fresh country air, and feel the Calm.
My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon. We loved the fact that it is so close to San Francisco, where we live, but felt like it was a world away. It was so very relaxing to spend time every day in the hot tub and watch hawks soar above the trees. Everything was well stocked from the kitchen to the book shelves. One of the best parts was that it is a pet-free rental, very hard to find, but very important when someone has an allergy.
We had the best time ever. This place changed me; it gave my spirit calm.
My husband and my daughter connected with each other and to nature. This place is magical and all things that are good for the soul.
Let us come again, I ask the Universe
The place itself is amazing. Nature, trees, the quiet atmosphere, the river (more about that below)… We had a wonderful three days at the Sequoia Dreamery and my only wish it lasted a bit longer.
The Good -
The scenery and the peaceful mood this place sets on you.
The house itself is big, very well taken care of, two bedrooms and full of atmosphere. It doesn’t feel like a place that people come to visit and leave – It feels like… well, like home. Cozy (and big) living room, with TV (+Netflix), two huge bedrooms, beautiful porch with a view of the Sequoia trees around the house. Fully functional kitchen. Everything you might need – It’s right there. Just see the photos, I think it speaks for itself.
The Bad -
Be ready – ZERO cellular connection. If you rely on GPS, you have to turn it on while in the house where there is Wi-Fi. Regarding food – There is a lovely bakery just 2 min from the house, but there is not much selection of food variety there. BBQ equipment is there if needed.
One small thing that bothered me: It is very easy to see that the owners of the house care for it. There are all these little notes around the house to help you find what you need or instruct you what to do. At first, it’s kind of fun and cute but with time it made me, personally, feel a bit like I’m in a museum surrounded by instructions on what to do and how. I’m sure some people love it; others need it, and it’s a silly thing to mention, but.. That’s how I feel, so why not say it? :)
And the Amazing –
Everything. Really. The hot tub outside the house, in a secluded corner. Just next to it is a shower that comes out of a tree! Your private beach. And the river! Crystal clear water, just in front of the house. There is a strip of water, but enough for you to find a spot to swim. There are few “holes” that are quite deep and after a hot day, few minutes in these cold, crystal clear water... Absolut Heaven.
Go there. Now. I know I will.
Location was amazing. The house was very clean and had everything we needed. The hot tub was pretty green which was kind of a bummer, but didn't hamper how perfect everything else was.
This was, without question, the most beautiful place we've ever stayed. The quiet zen garden, the beautiful touches of art and light, the perfect combination of pristine calm and warm comfort. The hot tub, a true nod to the Japanese ritual of bathing... the outdoor shower... the gurgle of the creek and the sun on the deck. We enjoyed the in-home massages by Julie, too! This is a perfect location, close to the coast and the Russian River wineries... and secluded enough to make us feel like we 'got away. This is our new favorite place!
This property was all it claimed to be - so much beauty and comfort here! We were truly amazed at finding this location; it is in a unique area on the Russian River, with unexpected wineries (not the typical Napa ones we expected, but better), close to the coast, and beautiful Redwoods all around:)
What a beautiful place! My sisters and I planned a girls weekend at this place and we are glad we stayed there. The welcome zen music, the decor and the scenery are all pleasant and made us relax right away. My 7 year old niece loved scouting for stones on the creek bed and she ecstatic when she found a heart shaped rock :) We spent the rainy day playing board games, building puzzles and reading while watching the rain and the river. We walked around the place up to Fern Falls on the second day. It was a pleasant surprise to meet Andrew and he was so very friendly and welcoming to his home. Thank You Andrew! The staff at Russian River are also very friendly and gave us great recommendations for brunch. We wish we stayed for one more night, but, alas, all good things have to come to an end!
Unique outdoor 'REDWOOD CATHEDRAL', hanging footbridges, and year-round WATERFALL are within walking distance.
We are located in the the Russian River appellation. Dozens of wineries are nearby - wine tasting, fine dining easily accessible.
There is a public swimming pool in Rio Nido about 30 minutes away (Rio Nido Roadhouse).
The villages of Jenner-By-The-Sea, Duncans Mill, Monte Rio, Guerneville, Occidental, Graton, Forestville, Sebastopol, Freestone, and Healdsburg are a short drive, so shopping, dining, visiting artists' studios and galleries, and antique collecting are easy activities.
