Dorado is a beach town 25 minutes to the west of San Juan. Our property is located in one of the most exclusive residential communities in Dorado, Dorado Beach East, which is within the grounds of the recently inaugurated Dorado Beach Ritz Carlton Reserve Resort, (one of only two in the world), which represented an investment of $430 million. The Hotel and the Club have many amenities that you can enjoy by paying a temporary membership fee. Dorado Beach East also has amenities that can be enjoyed as part of the rental.
The following is a description of amenities at Dorado Beach East at the Resort and at the Ritz Carlton Reserve Hotel:
DORADO BEACH EAST, WHICH DO NOT REQUIRE A MEMBERSHIP: East beach, accessible by golf cart in the property, 4 clay tennis courts, beach volleyball court, the Bunker, which is a billiards and game room for teenagers, Main clubhouse, main pool, Livingston Clubhouse with huge sand park for kids and fun/trick pool unlimited jogging and golf cart path trails, gym facilities, Zafra Restaurant at Plantation golf Club. Golf is also available at non member rates of $145 for Sugarcane and Pineapple Courses, and $250 at the PGA East Course.
CLUB FACILITIES WHICH REQUIRE A TEMPORARY MEMBERSHIP AT THE RESORT CLUB: The Watermill River Park, 4 golf courses at Plantation, at 50% reduced rate of $75 for the Pineapple and Sugarcane Courses and $130 for the East Course. El Encanto Beach Club, which has beautiful beach and pool and shower facilities, a restaurant and the center beach, Barlovento Water Sports facilities and restaurant, the Fitness and Wellness Center. The Club charges $960 plus 7% tax for a one week membership for a group of four, plus children under 6, who do not pay (and a fee of $160 each per week to add up to six more), for tenants of homes whose owners are regular members of the club, which is the case here. They provide ID cards and charging privileges.
We are a family of five, mother, father and three sons. We initially acquired this property as a second home while our children were growing up, to be able to enjoy it with them and other family members during week ends.
Owner purchased this house in 2000
We chose this property because Dorado Beach has and will always be the #1 place of choice for most Puerto Ricans from the San Juan area who wish to have a vacation home outside of the city, but close enough to be able to enjoy it frequently. The beach and amenities are the best in Puerto RIco, for a resort property.
Dorado Beach is a premier property, its 3 miles of beaches are spectacular. The location of this property within a Beach and Golf club, and a high end resort, guarantees that the renter will have many amenities to choose from. The house itself has a great design, and is very comfortable, all in one floor.
We loved this house! Annie was great to rent from and made sure we were happy! We enjoyed our stay so much and want to come back!
We stayed at this house for 9 days and let sad wanting to stay longer!!! The house is super spacious (it looks smaller in the pictures). Very Clean and Comfortable and in the BEST location of the entire island. Dorado Beach is the place to be. So many activities to do. I advice you to get the temporary club membership!!! The golf cart is a most and its great that this house provides you with a 6 people buggy!!! There are great restaurants and supermarkets in town for groceries. The owner Annie was super welcoming and very helpful. I organize a birthday party for my son and Annie gave me all the information I needed to make the party unforgettable. I wish we could have stayed even longer. We will come back very soon!!! Thanks Annie !!!!
What an amazing vacation in PR! All the reviews are completely accurate. We travel a lot and visit PR every year and had stayed at different areas and places but nothing compares to Annie’s residence at this gated upscale community. From the very first communication until returning the key it was an absolute pleasure to deal with Annie. She went above and beyond to help us and make our stay the best ever.
The house is in a beautiful and very tastefully decorated in the high-end 'residential' area of the Reserve. The rental included a golf cart which allowed us easy access to all the facilities. Traveling by golf cart took us 2 min to get to Livingston Park which was a great fun, play pool with slide and sand park for the kids, and 5 minutes to the Watermill (water park open only weekends), and 6 minutes to Encanto which was a beautiful kid-friendly pool right at the West Beach. The beach was beautiful with a reef of large rocks about 100 yards out allowed the waves to break and the water to be very calm for swimming.
The Reserve is beyond beautiful and extremely safe - completely gated with security patrolling frequently. The Reserve is 5 min away from the supermarket, drugstores, Starbucks, Cold Stone etc. so we were able to easily shop for anything we needed.
We STRONGLY recommend getting the Beach Club Membership for a total access to everything in Dorado Beach East & The Ritz Carlton.
This was defiantly our top family vacation location in Puerto Rico and a place we hope to return to in the future! You will not be disappointed with this rental!
Thank you so much for everything and sorry for the delay, Annie!!
The Millindorf's and Dubin's Families
This is the best place to stay in Puerto Rico. Bar none. While I'm casual about the twists and turns of travel my husband has high standards. We were both blown away by the beauty of Annie's home. Gorgeously decorated with a fabulous taste in art, this was our perfect vacation home. Our older teenagers appreciated as well.
Word of advice to Annie's future visitors: the Duckworth family was so exhausted from our trip ( from Ohio) that we declined Annie's gracious offer to have her tour the grounds with us. Big mistake. No matter how tired, do it. The Ritz Hilton Reserve is not easy to navigate at first but so worth the trip.
So I HIGHLY recommend that you take advantage of the membership through Annie. This is a world-class resort and through Annie's good graces, it is a remarkable opportunity. Do it. If you're on the bubble, decide yes.
Thank you, thank you Annie. The best vacation we ever had. Love you!
Annie Astor is awesome and her home is the best place to stay in Dorado Beach. We've traveled a lot and don't give compliments easily but this home is the greatest. Beautifully decorated with great art yet comfortable. My teenagers loved it as did my grumpy and high-standard husband. If you stay here- and you should really consider it- you HAVE to take advantage of the Ritz Carlton Reserve amenities. Look at their rates. Compare with a great home, a gracious host and close location. It's win-win. You have to do it.
One piece of advice to future renters: Annie graciously offered us a tour of the grounds when we arrived but the trip exhausted us (coming from Ohio) and we declined. Big mistake. Let Annie show you around. Soak in the beauty. This is by far the best place to stay in Puerto Rico. Close to everything needed and everything beyond imagination.
Thank you Annie. We will be back.
The Duckworth Family.
We stayed at Annie's house over Feb School Break with our 3 children (18,8 and 4) and had fantastic time. The house is beautiful and was a perfect size for everyone to have their own space. It had everything we needed and the yard was great to have to sit outside and let the kids run around in the morning or after a day at the beach.
The house is in a beautiful very up-scale 'residential' area of the Reserve but the golf cart allowed us easy access to all the facilities. By golf cart, 2 min to Livingston Park which was a great fun, play pool with slide and sand park for the kids, 5 minutes to the Watermill (water park open only weekends), 6 minutes to Encanto which was a beautiful kid-friendly pool right at the Wast Beach. The beach was beautiful and large rocks about 100 yards out allowed the waves to break and the water to be very calm for swimming. We also swam and used the boogie boards (provided at house) on the East beach away from the hotel. The waves were bigger here and the kids loved it.
We did get the Beach Club Membership and I would HIGHLY recommend this as it allowed us total access to everything in Dorado Beach East & The Ritz Carlton.
The Reserve is beyond beautiful and extremely safe, completely gated with security patrolling frequently. I ran along the walking trails every morning and it was heaven. The Reserve is < 5 min away from the supermarket, drugstores, Starbucks, Cold Stone etc so we were able to easily shop for anything we needed. There is really no place to buy food, sun screen, etc.. on the property so being close to stores was ideal.
My husband golfed 2x. Once on the Pineapple and once on the East Course. He said both were fantastic and the play was very fast.
We ate at Encanto 2 nights and the food was excellent. We also had 2 lunches at the Watermill and while the food was good, the service was extremely slow. We grilled one night at the house but otherwise ate dinners out - once to San Juan to Ruth Chris and otherwise places in the area. We came back to the house for a 'sun-break' most days and had lunch at the house.
Annie was AMAZING!!! Detailed emails were sent prior to the trip and any questions we had were promptly answered via email or text. The house was exactly as described/pictured.
Overall one of our top family vacations and a place we hope to return to in the future! You will not be disappointed with this rental!
