In the Tenuta Di Villa Arceno, Casale Fornaci is a magnificent country house located inside the Arceno Estate. Surrounded by a grove of olive trees atop lush green hillsides, this 13th century restoration with its terracotta floors, wood beamed ceilings and stone walls is the perfect vacation villa for families wanting to enjoy Tuscan life at its finest. Decorated in true and classic Tuscan style, the Casale has comfortable sleeping accommodations for up ten (10) guests and is equipped with every modern comfort. We can host up to 6 guests within the main house (3 bed, 3 bath), additional guests can be hosted either in the guest house located within our private courtyard or in the coach house located just behind the main house.
Dine al fresco in the private courtyard while sipping local wine that comes from the vineyards on the grounds estate. In the courtyard of the main house, you will find the original, centuries-old wood-burning oven that has been skillfully restored and is now perfectly ready to make delicious home made pizza.
But perhaps you prefer a barbeque in the garden? In the privately owned and extensive gated park, to which only you have access, you can enjoy a lamppost-lit dinner, in the shadow of an ancient oak tree. The modern grill set atop antique bricks and the large white-stone table, will create the perfect setting for a meal outdoors.
If you like to walk in the open air, the private park offers over ten thousand square meters of land. The flowers of the many fruit trees on the property will enchant you: cherries, walnuts, pomegranate, figs, apricots and almonds, just to name a few. You can walk among our 80 tree olive grove or simply sit and wait in silence to watch the deer and wild boars that, in a distance, cross the park in the hours of dawn and dusk. Search the sky for pheasants and falcons.
The courtyard, the Loggia and the poolside are furnished with chairs, tables, loungers and umbrellas.
Our villa is the grandest unit at Casale Fornaci with a total of 5 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, large private courtyard and enormous private grounds.
OUTDOORS: Enjoy a dip in the outdoor swimming pool which is exclusively shared among the 3 neighbouring units. As the neighbouring villas are seldom occupied it is rarely in use.

The upstairs houses 2 bedrooms with matrimonial beds, ample storage and another full bathroom. The lower level of the villa features a spacious lounge and a walkout to the private courtyard. The main house has air conditioning.
GUEST HOUSE: The guest quarter, located in the private courtyard features a living room with a matrimonial pull-out and a large bathroom.

Casale Fornaci is only 20 Km northeast of Siena, 8 Km near the quaint town of Castelnuovo Berardenga in the Chianti region and only 3 Km from the medieval borghi of San Gusme' and Montebenichi. The position of Casale Fornaci, in the heart of Tuscany, makes it an ideal place for day trips into the entire Chianti area as well as cities such as Florence, Siena, San Gimignano and Arezzo. There are countless superb Tuscan restaurants and local farms selling oil and wine in the vicinity.

This villa is so nice. While there were a couple of minor maintenance issues, nothing serious. We thoroughly enjoyed the well-equipped kitchen, the pizza oven, and the courtyard for cocktails each evening. Although it is a little remote, in that the drive is long down the unpaved road, it was a beautiful property.
My suggestion would be to carefully plan your outings with the drive in mind.
Barbara was very helpful to us. We would definitely recommend this property.
We had an amazing time. The villa was spectacular.
We were mesmerized by the view off the balcony. The pool was an added bonus. Everything was so comfortable and we enjoyed the entire experience. It was great being able to go on day trips to Florence, Siena, Castelnuovo Berardenga and San Gusme.
The wine on the estate was amazing and I shipped olive oil to my place from there. You were right the meat was awesome. Basically all the food we had was so delicious!
We travel with friends each summer, and we use VRBO to find our digs. Our preference is to be out and about during the day and for lunch and, then, cook dinner at home. All four of us loved Casale Fornaci! We could reach a variety of interesting places nearby, including terrific lunches. When the sightseeing was over, we could get away from it all at our villa. The space was wonderfully laid out and quite comfortable. The kitchen was supplied and equipped extremely well.
The welcome basket is welcome, indeed. It includes a first dinner and breakfast without having to get to a store. Because the villa is 20-30 minutes from shopping, it will a a lifesaver for guests who do not shop on the way in.
We liked the wood fired pizza oven so much that we used it three times. Crusts can be bought at the store, which is how we started. Then, I followed Jamie Oliver's online instructions for homemade pizza crust. Easy, fun, delicious.
We were sorry that we waited a couple of days before we started using the pool. It is kept in tiptop shape and we liked it a lot.
Before going to Casale Fornaci, I looked on Google maps and Google earth to see the route. It is astonishingly easy to find the important turns, and shur'nuff when we reached them in the car, we recognized them right away.
It was a great vacation. We recommend it highly.
After spending a week at Villa Casale Fornaci in Tuscany with my family this month, I couldn’t be more pleased to submit a review. First, starting with the reservation process, Filippo was responsive, accommodating, and helpful in answering all my questions. After emailing with him, I was hoping I’d be able to meet him. The whole process was seamless. Thank YOU! Then, I can’t say enough about Barbara. You are truly AMAZING! I loved the communications you sent before we arrived (with detailed instructions for our arrival and directions – which proved extremely helpful when we took day trips). My family and I really appreciated the warm welcome we received from you when we arrived, the heartfelt hugs we received when we left, and the thoughtful note you sent after we left for Rome to see how my husband was doing with his cold. That is true kindness! I especially liked how you engaged with our children, and made them feel like they were coming to visit an aunt (I loved the "geography test"). What I’ve also been raving about on Facebook and to friends is how thankful we were when we arrived that you had gone out and shopped for groceries to hold us over for not only the night, but really for an additional day or so (including water, eggs, yogurt, juice, pasta, cold meats, wine, etc.). You knew what would be helpful to a traveling family of 5. Thank you for all the goodies you had for us! The villa – including the surrounding property – was absolutely wonderful. The view was amazing and peaceful! The villa was very clean, beautifully-maintained, with comfortable beds, and had everything we needed to feel at home. My children loved to explore the grounds and had a couple of fun days playing in the pool. I also loved the location of the villa – which we used as a base to take day trips to Florence, Siena, Castellina in Chianti, Radda in Chianti, Castelnuovo Berardenga, San Gusmé (where we had some of our best meals in Tuscany). We hold some wonderful memories of our trip to Tuscany, and we thank Filippo and Barbara for helping us create those memories for our family. I would recommend the villa to anyone who is looking for a truly memorable trip to Tuscany. It will be one of the best decisions you’ve made.
I couldn't have chosen a better villa for my family vacation! The villa itself is very clean, well maintained and set on a hill overlooking the beautiful Tuscan hills making a beautiful setting to share with my family. We arrived to a warm welcome from Barbara (who is so charming, helpful and accommodating!) and a wonderful welcome hamper with delicious snacks and essentials for our stay. The villa is in the perfect location to explore the many hilltop towns of Tuscany and is the perfect place to relax in between site-seeing days. The pool was very refreshing on the hot afternoons and the pizza oven is AMAZING! We made pizza in this real wood fired oven and it was probably the best pizza I have ever eaten! The rooms are very large and plenty of closet space. This villa is very, very large and spacious inside and has a very large courtyard and separate casita. We found lots of fresh herbs in the garden for cooking and the picnic area with the huge swing was an added surprise. Of the many things I would recommend to do while staying here is to take a cooking class in Villa A Sesta at Villa Di Soto. The restaurant is amazing and the cooking class was fantastic! Also, eat at La Bottega in Villa A Sesta! The best meal we have ever eaten - ever! The market in Siena on Wednesday mornings is a must! All of the hilltop towns in the area are so beautiful and the best food on the planet is found in Tuscany - its hard to go wrong anywhere you go. The owners of this villa are very considerate and kind and even allowed us to stay an extra night to make up for the first night that we missed due to delayed flights - thank you! I have very fond memories of this vacation and will hopefully return again!
The setting is spectacular! We spent a wonderful month there and our children and grandchildren came for a couple of weeks. The villa was very clean, well maintained and so comfortable.
Barbara, who manages the villa, was extremely helpful. Our stay was certainly enhanced by her assistance. We arrived after dark due to a train delay, so she met us in Ambra and lead us to the villa through the winding roads. The welcome basket and refrigerated items were generous and got us started before we went to the market. The resource book helped us plan our day trips to small towns and wineries. It also had directions for all of the household appliances. Barbara lives nearby and was always available in person or by telephone. Her cleaning staff was very good. It was really helpful ti have a washer and dryer.
One of our goals for this vacation was to go to local markets an learn to make some Italian dishes. We all enjoyed cooking in the well stocked kitchen. The indoor grill/fireplace was perfect for grilling steak, Tuscan sausages and provided a lovely ambiance. We even roasted chestnuts. The outdoor pizza oven was new to us, so Barbara sent us to a Jamie Oliver video that was very helpful. The grandchildren were excited about making there own pizzas. Another goal of our vacation was to have some cooking classes both for adults and family. Barbara referred us to English speaking chefs Matisse and Emily. We arranged the dates and menus well in advance of our trip. Both were great!
Our grandchildren enjoyed playing in the garden and loved the swing. There were lots of children's movies and games that were popular in the evening.
On our final morning we had the privilege of meeting Fil and his family. We were invited to pick olives with them before we headed off to Florence. It was a memorable end to our month long stay at Casale Fornaci. We would highly recommend this beautiful villa.
