'About Time' is located on a narrow strip of the island and includes secluded beach frontage on both the ocean and the bay providing your family a vibrant coastal retreat. The house has a spacious open floor plan with large decks all around specifically designed for family time enjoyment. The home provides breath-taking views and direct deck access from every bedroom and common area.
UNSPOILED BEACHES /
The unspoiled beaches provide unlimited opportunity for outdoor activities as well as full time relaxation. Parents can join the kids on the beach for walking, swimming, sailing, windsurfing, snorkeling, biking, sand play, water play, shell gathering, fishing, exploring the large tide pools at low tide, creature finding…... Or parents can simply relax and provide a watchful eye from the large front deck.
You can walk from the water to the refrigerator and bathrooms while never loosing site of the beach (kids). Once the kids have experienced all the ocean beach has to offer they can start all over again on the bay side. Be sure to bring flashlights because the beach and sea offers a new set of creatures to explore at night. (Please do not disturb the sea turtles – especially when hatching or laying their eggs).
About Time’s spacious open floor plan with 11 foot+ ceilings in the first floor living room and large glass sliding doors and windows throughout combined with a color scheme that matches the surrounding natural colors of the sea grass, sand, sky and ocean makes it feel as though you never leave the beach.
The main level features 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a spacious living room and a large open kitchen with an extra large breakfast bar – great for entertaining or just playing games with the family.
The master suite looks over the gulf and has a private bathroom featuring a Jacuzzi tub that looks over the bay. There are two additional guest bedrooms on the main level capable of sleeping 2 and 4 people respectively. With all bedrooms having tremendous water views, it will be difficult to decide which bedroom to choose. No matter which room you choose the sound of the lapping waves will lull you to sleep.
The upstairs area is one large open room featuring group seating and a spectacular wrap around deck overlooking the island. This room functions as a separate living area by day with a wet bar w/ mini refrigerator and entertainment center and is capable of converting to the 4th sleeping area at night with 4 futons allowing for 6 additional guests.

This was the first house my family has rented, and were a bit nervous about the whole process. Jim, the owner, took the time to email and call us and answer any and all our questions. The rental process went very smoothly.
The pictures don't lie! This house was just as the pictures look on the website (no unpleasant surprises). Ok, the house is actually better than the pictures.
House - the house is open concept at it's best. The living room, dinning room and kitchen are one big room, yet cleverly separated (this is where everyone hung out when inside and there was plenty of seating). There is also a big room upstairs that's another great place to hang out (this is where our kids hung out with each other). The house has such an open feeling to it with all the windows. On one side you look out into the bay (where dolphins could be seen every morning) and on the other side you're looking at the ocean. The bedrooms are decent size and no one felt crowded (we had six kids with us). Bathrooms were roomy (enough for mom to change and bath/shower kids with another kid brushing their teeth). The front deck (facing ocean) is like a room itself. Lots of conversation/bonding took place on it. The back deck was used to view the bay. The house is next to other houses, but you couldn't tell when you were in the house (quiet neighborhood). House was very clean and comfortable.
Beach - Literally footsteps away. We felt like we had our own private beach. You could look down yonder and see a group of people that was a public beach, but no one was near us. This was nice for we could let the kids spread out on the beach with their stuff/toys and not worry about anyone taking anything. There were crabs, starfish, fish, hermit crabs, and such that could be found during the day. Yet not too many that any of the kids were afraid to swim in the ocean. At night the kids liked to walk the beach with a flashlight and see all the fiddle crabs - like all hundreds of them! We found shells, built sand castles, took walks, flew kites, and just hung out on the beach.
The first night at the house, while sitting out on the beach watching the sun set, my husband asked me, "How much do you think Jim wants for the place?" Needless to stay, we love the house! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and reluctantly recommend it to others (who may take it the week we want to come back :) Seriously, this house is a treasure.
Our family of 10 rented this wonderful beach house for our spring break. It was a beautiful home and very well stocked. You are very close to the beach and it's so quite and peaceful.
We enjoyed fishing. My brother in law caught a 42 inch red fish just off the surf. We also caught sting rays, mackerel, catfish, trout and even a shark. Fishing was fantastic. One of our favorite things was going out at night when the tide was out with flashlights looking at all the sea life. The stars at night were awesome also!!
We have a wonderful visit in this loving home and would recommend to anyone wanting to get away to the beach!!
We had the best vacation we have ever had. My brother and his friend fished all day. We could just sit on the porch and watch the kids play. The house was wonderful!!!!!!! Cannot wait to go back next year. We loved the tranquility and the peacefulness!!!!!!!!!
Amazing house in an amazing location!!!!!! This is a clean and well kept home! we were very impressed with everything that was provided for us at the home. Literally all we had to show up with was clothes and food, everything else was provided with the home. We have been many places, and I must say that this has got to be one of the most fun and memorable vacations that we have been on. My family and friends could not be happier!! We had a two family group, both with parents and kids. The kids ranged in ages from 8-16 The kids NEVER ran out of things to do: fishing, swimming, shelling, sanding during the day and hunting crabs and critters during the night with their flashlights and glow-sicks. The tide pools are unbelievable as well and full of all kinds of sea life!! We got to watch Dolphins swim by a couple different times which was amazing!! The amount of shells, starfish, sand dollars, sand crabs, and hermit crabs that could be seen and found was completely amazing!! We brought a pop up canopy to set up on the beach. This is a must in my opinion, it really helped with the midday sun. This allowed us to set out on the beach for longer periods of time without being too hot and having to go to the house to take a break. It was also a nice place for the kids to hang out under and play on the beach or take a nap! :) The neighbors were great and friendly the whole time! The beach was NEVER crowded at any point during our stay and it was over the 4th of July. Heck, 1 day i bet we didnt see over 15 people on the beach as far as you could see either direction. The best seafood restaraunt around was right across the bay bridge sitting right on the water. It offered inside and outside eating. There were a few other more family style (a little cheaper) seafood places about 5 minutes up the road – one of which was inside/outside right on the water. We also found an AMAZING little smokehouse called Hamaknockers. Best smoked food i have ever eaten, and the rest of our family also agrees!!! There were a few very well stocked large convenient stories right across the bridge (one has a deli) and the large supermarket was about 7-8 minutes further up the road right next door to Crumbs Mini Mall that offered all kinds of food, drinks, and beach gear including fishing equipment. The best part, we could buy lots of fresh caught local seafood (shrimp, fish, crab, oysters…) and grill right on the beach as the kids entertained themselves. Nice people and beautiful scenery!
Abouttime was everything we had been promised and more.....the entire family
had an awesome week. My children, grandkids, and all adults took complete
advantage of everything that was offered....fishing, crabbing, collecting beautiful
sea shells, sand dollars, and star fish....The beach was super and we enjoyed
volleyball, bean bag toss, football, and just good ole' relaxing and sun bathing !
The beach house was beautiful with everything you need. There are several good
restaurants and grills within minutes of the house.....Angelo's was superb and
Coastals and Dockside were favorites as well. The owner, Jim Hamlin, was
wonderful to work with and always answered any questions or concerns that we
Saint George's island is about 40 mijutes away and is beautiful and the horse
back riding, on the beach, in San Blas is an experience you don't want to miss.
My only regret is that we didn't bring my boat...............however it will be with us
on the next trip. This was one of our best vacations ever and will not be forgotten.
My 5 year old granddaughter, Jolie, is still asking when we will be going back.
Thanks for allowing us the experience and we would not hesitate to recommend
"Abouttime" to our friends and relatives....which we have already done.
Great house in a great setting – our group could not be happier. We had a two family group – both with parents and kids. The kids had lots to do: fishing, swimming, shelling, sanding, sailing… the tide pools are unbelievable – full of all kinds of sea life. The kids were never without something to do and always very excited to come back to the chairs and show us their latest discovery. For the parents we had the house sitting right on the beach (or in this case “both ocean and bay beaches”) that we had always dreamed of with lots of local conveniences but without the crowds. The best seafood restraint around was right across the bridge sitting right on the water offered inside and outside eating with a few other more family style (a little cheaper) seafood places about 5 minutes up the road – one of which was inside/outside right on the water. At the full service marina (1/2 mile from house) there was a Tiki Bar – all outside seating right on the water. There were a few very well stocked large convenient stories right across the bridge (one has a deli) and the large supermarket was about 7-8 minutes further up the road right next door to Crumbs Mini Mall – that offered all kinds of food, drinks, and beach gear including fishing equipment. We found a Super Wal-mart about ½ hour before you get to the island – best place for once stop food and toys on the way in. The best part, we could buy lots of fresh caught local seafood (shrimp, fish, crab, oysters…) and grill right on the beach as the kids entertained themselves. We will be back soon but not soon enough. Summer of 2009
Full service marinas, Marine Research Lab & Aquarium, Local Freshly Caught Seafood Retailers, Many State Parks
