The two- story cabin offers ample space, excellent beds and furnishings, original oil paintings by hill country artists, views that inspire, a fully stocked kitchen for a big country breakfast, a two-person whirlpool tub. It is a great place for up to 9 people to get away for a weekend or for a family to reconnect for a week in the country air. The road it is located on is not a through road so there is almost no traffic. A great place to walk and bike. A wonderful place to sit on the balcony and look over the Palo Alto Creek Valley with a glass of wine and watch the moon rise!. If you are a cyclist, it is the perfect location to connect to the best biking roads in the hill country. We invite you to come and retreat to little piece of Texas hill country heaven.
A beautiful place to retreat....: This is a beautiful place to let your hair down and enjoy the views of the Texas Hill Country. This cabin is located on a farm with cows, chickens, clean air, peace and quiet. It is only three miles from downtown Fredericksburg, so the shopping, restaurants, and fun are only minutes away. The beautiful amenities and full kitchen make you feel right at home. A safe place for children, a great place to bike and walk and gaze at the moon and stars. This is a great place for bicyclists because we are at the entrance point to most of the great biking roads in the Hill Country.
I am a member of the faculty at Texas Lutheran University in Seguin,TX. I am the director of choirs for the Texas Lutheran University Community Music Academy. I love to sing, ride horses, fish, teach, run our guest houses and babysit our first granddaughter.
Laura Jenschke purchased this cabin in 2005
We bought this property because of the beautiful houses, amazing trees, views and its short distance to downtown Fredericksburg. You are out in the country but minutes from town.
The guest house has beautiful touches of wood trim and tile floors, high ceilings, beautiful views, peace and quiet. The new third bedroom is a very romantic and cozy retreat with ensuite bathroom.
This property was perfect for us. We travelled with another couple, one couple on the first floor, one on the second. The house was stocked with quality linens and staples. The beds were very comfortable. The Weber charcoal grill was a nice surprise that we took advantage of. The views of the surrounding countryside were fantastic. We enjoyed petting the kitties and watching the horses, sheep and deer. We spent our days in the wineries and in town and returned in the evenings for relaxation, grilling and visiting. The property is very convenient to Fredericksburg and easy to find. We plan to return next time we visit. Thanks Laura for sharing your wonderful property :)
Four of my friends and I stayed at the Moonrise Retreat for a long weekend and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The location is great. You are out in the countryside, but convenient to Fredericksburg. We spent a lot of time on the porches and cooked several meals there. It has a home like feel with very comfortable beds. We loved the design of the newly added bedroom. You will enjoy Daniel and Laurie's place.
If you want the feel of the country, this is the place. Comfortable accommodations and plenty of breakfast items in the frig. We really enjoyed our stay at the Moonrise Retreat. We think you will too!
My husband and I along with my brother enjoyed staying at Moonrise for a getaway from the cold of Wisconsin and Alaska. We loved the hot tub, stars at night, and super soft plush beds. A great place to unwind...but close enough to the town of Fredericksburg to shop, eat, and do some wine and beer tastings. A special touch was the fresh eggs from the ranch chickens and other breakfast staples.
The cabin was very clean and Laurie was always available if needed.
Enchanted Rock and the Nimitz Museum were great bonuses we didn't expect. Loved to hear about the history of the area!
Everything about this trip was top notch! This is a fantastic place to relax in ultimate comfort. The owner keeps the house and yard in great shape and prepares the traveler with farm fresh eggs and the works for a wonderful breakfast. We actually felt so at home and honestly didn't want to leave. We are hoping to return next year in the fall.
What a wonderful way to vacation. Peaceful quiet country air! Beautiful experience - and the fresh eggs in the refrigerator - what a treat. Very comfortable beds for a great nights rest. I only want to say - when are we going again?????

In the heart of Texas Hill Country, Fredericksburg is a small city with a unique German flavor in its quaint bakeries, Hauptstrasse (Main Street) boutiques and generations-old peach orchards. Weekenders from nearby San Antonio and Austin have long appreciated the charm of the city's many B&Bs and 'Sunday House' Inns. The surrounding Texas Hill Country is home to lush vineyards, making up one of the country's largest viticultural areas. Fredericksburg and the surrounding areas host many wine-tasting events at the many local wineries.
Other Activities: wine-tasting, shopping, bike and motorcycle riding, deer hunting
