Charming 2-bedroom cottage in historic Yarmouth Port, quiet, near beach

Bedrooms 2
Half Baths1
Space 1,100 sq. ft.
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 7 nights

About the property

2 bedrooms, 1 1/2 baths, sleeps 4-5

Adorable 2-bedroom cottage on large 1/3 acre lot on quiet side street near bay beach.

Cape Cod Doll House: This adorable cottage is just a mile from a quiet family friendly life-guarded beach. Grey's Beach has a wonderful boardwalk out over the marsh and also has a nice sandy beach. There is an adjacent covered picnic area at Grey's Beach and restroom facilities. The cottage is walking distance to a town playground as well. This cottage is also suitable for two couples since the upstairs has its own lavatory, and a door at the top of the stairs for privacy.

Charming but economical: Why pay for a large expensive 3 bedroom house when all you need is a cute, convenient, well equipped place to use as your home base? We love this little cottage and we think you will too! We have renovated it for 2016 and now have a completely new kitchen, dining room, and fabulous sun room with gas fireplace! Beautiful residential area of larger year-round homes. Walking distance to charming town of Yarmouth Port shops and restaurants.

Perfect size and perfect location for a pair of Cape lovers

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I have stayed at vacation rentals around the world, and one of the biggest challenges is finding a place that's feels right for two. This charming Cape was just right. We slept upstairs in the roomy bedroom under the eaves and used the downstairs bedroom as a dressing room. The cottage was immaculate and charmingly furnished with great wall art, lots of books, a well-equipped kitchen, and the overall felt like a home -- exactly what we're looking for in bypassing the sterile feel of most hotels and motels. And it is located in the historic heart of the Cape, just off the Old King's Highway -- Route 6A -- one of the most beautiful roads in the USA that winds along the north shore from Sandwich to Orleans, passing dozens of historic homes, historic inns, historic shops, etc. A short drive to the north or south brings you to miles of beach at Sandy Neck or Mayflower Beach, and from the Barnstable town dock you can head out on a whale watch or pick up a rental kayak to explore Barnstable Harbor. There are a handful of restaurants and shops within walking distance of the cottage, as is the boardwalk over the marsh at Gray's Beach. In short, this cottage was a perfect size and a perfect location for a pair of Cape lovers.

Even better the second time around

  • 5 of 5

We returned to this wonderful -- beautifully decorated --- house for a second time this past week. As with last year, we had a fantastic stay. They have a great backyard with a nice grill.

The owners also put in a number of improvements and renovations, which were gorgeous.

The house is in an ideal location: walking / biking distance to one public beach and driving distance to amazing beaches (such as Mayflower) in Dennis. It's also close to good restaurants and grocery stores.

We highly recommend this property.

Relaxing couple get-a-way

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here the first week of October 2015. We found the location to be very convenient for our visit. We have been to the Cape many times and preferred this quiet spot in a residential neighborhood to a hotel on a busier roadway. The ferries out of Hyannis are a short drive away. We enjoyed our day trip to the Salt Pond Visitor's Center and hike to Coast Guard Beach. We also drove to Dennis to rent bikes and ride the Rail Trail. We stopped by cranberry bogs being harvested and took a walking tour of Chatham. So fun! Watching the sunset at Gray's Beach was memorable.

The cottage was perfect; so typical of homes on the Cape. It was nicely decorated and the kitchen was well equipped. Linens and towels were provided for a small fee. Thank you to the owners for working with us. We will recommend your cottage to our friends and family.

Yarmouth Port is 'Old Cape Cod' at its best...quaint old homes, charming shops, fine restaurants, and of course close proximity to beautiful bay beaches. This is the less commercial side of Cape Cod where you can walk or bike to the beach without crossing any major highways. You are also about half way out on the Cape so if you want to explore Plymouth, Hyannis, or Provincetown, it is an easy drive. Likewise the National Seashore and ocean beaches are readily accessible.
