This house is free standing among 3 others and is locked and gated. This is a 2 bedroom house with the one bathroom (with a huge shower)between the bedrooms. The kitchen is fully stocked for cooking. The stove is gas. There is a dining bar and living room. The house has a patio with dining room furniture. The house is cool on even the hottest days. There are overhead fans in each bedroom and one has an air conditioner.
Todo Santos has been designated a historic 'magical' town meaning there is and never will be fast food or other commercial establishments. All restaurants are local. We love to swim at the beaches, hike in the hills and watch the Whales go by.
We love Mexico and the real mexican lifestyle with the beaches near by.
We love to swim at the beaches, hike in the hills and watch the Whales go by. We like that our place is in town so that we can walk to all services.
My hubby and our grown daughter rented this lovely place for five days. All was as advertised. The manager was very helpful, spoke great English, and quickly arrived when we called from The Hotel California to bring us a few blocks to the house. Very secure (locked gate, double-locking door); beautiful house, cool in the hot afternoons, very hot shower. The mattresses are probably dense foam -- not the best beds ever but much much better than many. Coffee maker and plenty of dishes and kitchen gear. Well-stocked water cooler. The internet generally worked as well as anywhere else we tried to get internet in Mexico (tip -- unplug and plug modem/router if it doesn't work). Very nice high ceilings helped keep it cool, though the palm leaf roof did let in a few large crawly bugs. The manager says they are replacing it with a cement roof which will be less lovely but perhaps will keep out the crawlies. There were no flying bugs we saw, and the few crawly ones that showed up were slow-moving and upon a google search appeared to be harmless. The fans and AC were certainly adequate to keep it cool, though perhaps not in the middle of summer. At night and early AM, neighborhood dogs and roosters were quite vocal -- but that's part of the charm of staying in a little town in Mexico. Within a few blocks are many great restaurants (La Copa was our favorite, at least at night), art galleries, curio shops, "La Bodega Todos Santos" for Monday night wine tasting (and live music when we were there); and the wonderful little history "museum"/shop/gallery on Marquez de Leon between Juarez and C. Militar, whose name escapes me. We would definitely stay again. Todos Santos is a great base for day trips if you have a car -- 1) the little historic ghost town "El Triunfo" with great food and lovely landscaping at the cafe; 2) beautiful beach at El Cerritos; 3) "Art and Beer" near El Cerritos - an experience in itself; 4) La Paz and its beaches (about an hour including the heavy La Paz traffic); 5) Cabo itself -- about an hour including Cabo traffic; 6) Lots of exploring to do on the east side north of Cabo, most of which we didn't have time for this trip. There are a couple beaches adjacent to Todos Santos but to be honest they weren't impressive other than for viewing the sunset.
After arriving by bus, we called the property manager, Teresa. She spoke excellent English and came to meet us, arriving literally three minutes after we called! She took us to the casita to let us in and answered our questions. The casita is just a few blocks from the center of town on a quiet dirt street. Even though we arrived at 7 pm on a Sunday, there was a decently stocked market open just around the corner selling staples and even a few fresh vegetables. There is a full produce market two blocks away and about a dozen restaurants of all levels within 5 minute walk. We volunteered at The Palapa Society (look into doing this during you stay!), a 15 minute walk to the south side of town. We walked down to the beach (La Poza, about 2.5 km each way), which took about an hour and a half on dirt roads with our little 4 and 6 year olds. I think it wouldn't be much more than 30 minutes for a group with longer legs :-) The beach was gorgeous when we got there. We had it literally all to ourselves for as far as the eye could see (low season). We were told it is not safe to swim at this beach, so we contented with carefully splashing in the surf. On our way back, the road was partially shaded by massive mango trees -- we picked up about a dozen fallen, ripe mangoes off the ground. After a good washing, they were amazing! There is also a great play structure in the town park. Taxis wait there if you want to explore further afield and don't have a car.
The casita itself is in a complex with three other casitas built around a walled courtyard (the others were vacant during our stay). It was a perfect place for the kids to run around. Inside, the casita was clean and spacious. There were plenty of cooking utensils for us to do some great home-cooked meals. There was a counter with two stools for eating inside, but no inside dining table. The table on the patio seemed like a dream place for evening meals, but the summer time bugs made us abandon that idea after the first night. Screens on all the windows kept us safe inside. A/C in the one bedroom was really appreciated during a particularly hot and humid summer, though both it and the ceiling fans were loud. No bathtub, but a huge walk-in shower. It's not ultra-modern luxury, but it is a great place that is well worth the price. We would be happy to come back!
I have spent three consecutive winter seasons in this casita and every year begged the owners to consider selling to me. It is rustic but charming. It is well cared for. The owners and local property manager are attentive and excellent. The location is ideal. The neighborhood is friendly. I cannot say enough good about this casita
We arrived in Todos Santos and we could not be happier with our casita, it is located in the heart of town, you can walk everywhere, very safe and clean with a great courtyard, 1bd has 2 twin beds, the other a queen. Loved the big shower with awesome water pressure and hot hot water. Highly recommend it,we will DEFINITELY be back. Thank you! :)
We do not come to Todos Santos for the beaches; we come to Todos Santos for the excellent events, good art, and fine restaurants. We, also, do not want to have to drive to most events. This casita is conveniently located to the center of old Todos Santos and it is possible to walk to virtually every notable location and event. We felt safe in leaving valuables in the casita when we were walking the town as the casita is easily secured.
The most valuable assets of this casita for us are proximity, privacy, and the fact that it is a nice size for two.
This house was a quaint Mexican casita with a traditional thatched (palapa) roof. Open space design with large bedrooms and an awesome shower. Clean and well-kept with excellent plumbing and water pressure. The owner couldn't have been more helpful and they also supply the bottled drinking water, linens and beach items. The photos displayed are an accurate description of the home. The town of Todos Santos is a quiet & unique place to visit. If you are looking for a vacation away from the "madding crowd" you will find it here. We had a wonderfuld Christmas dinner at the "Hotel California" and our last night we ate a small cafe "Tequila Sunrise" with authentic Mexican fare. The Todos Santos cafe was a great place for lattes. Local merchants were also very helpful and friendly even with the language barrier. Our favourite beach was Los Cerritos, where we taxied approx. 12 minutes to a terrific swimming and boogie boarding place. To sum up we had a wonderful relaxing, stress free stay in this little town and would definitely recommend this house and we will return one day.
