We had a lovely stay. The authenticity of the place was consistent with the area.

The ambience of the place was very relaxing. Our stay there was to short to take in all the beauty that is provided there.

Idyllic setting for a family get together!

  • 5 of 5

We celebrated a milestone wedding anniversary at the Fisherman's Cottage with our 2 daughters and sons-in-law. The house was perfect. We were so pleased to have found a home with 3 bedrooms all with en suite bathrooms plus a 1/2 bath with laundry in such a great location. My husband and I took the first floor bedroom with our adult children taking the second floor bedrooms. The bathrooms are huge! Lots of living space and we enjoyed playing table games around the large dining room table. The house is close to Peggy's Cove, local restaurants and an easy trip to the coastal towns and Halifax. The best part is the outdoor deck with picture postcard views. We enjoyed our morning coffee and our evening wine out there while watching the sun set. We took hundreds of pictures. The house has everything you need and Josephine was extremely responsive to my questions. Tom and Donna Maguire own the Gallery across the road and are extremely friendly and helpful with lots of tips of where and when to go places. For example Tom suggested we go to the SouWester restaurant in Peggy's Cove for breakfast as soon as it opens to assure a table without the crowds and the tour buses. Sure enough we were able to see the lighthouse and get great pictures without a lot of tourists and then have breakfast when the doors opened. During August the tall ships are in Lunenberg so we enjoyed seeing them and also spent one day at Queensland Beach. Folding chairs and beach towels were available in the house. One of our daughters did the kayaking trip with her husband at East Coast Outfitters and said it was great. For meals we highly recommend Rhubarbs for lunch and dinner. Its very close and the food and atmosphere are great. Yardarm is right across the road and Hannah the owner is a trained chef. Very good food, with a limited menu. We were still able to find something for everyone. The pulled pork was delicious for the one person in our party who doesn't eat seafood. Not too far past Peggy's Cove is Shaw's Landing and that was quintessential Nova Scotia, with amazing lobster and seafood on an outside deck overlooking the water. It was terrific. While we had many meals out we also grilled on the outside deck of the house, cooked breakfast several mornings and had lots of snacks in between. The kitchen is well equipped and worked well for a party of 6. All in all we loved our stay and would really love to come back some day.

Beautiful and peaceful home

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautiful spot along the shore near Peggy's Cove. The house was clean and well stocked with linens and such. We appreciated the spacious bedrooms with en suite bathrooms.

The shoreline behind the house is gorgeous and we spent lots of time just enjoying the view. When cars are pulling over daily to take pictures, you know you chose a picturesque place to stay! The location is just a few minutes from Peggy's Cove and less than an hour from Halifax. We enjoyed several of the local restaurants near the house and it was nice to have the property manager just across the street. A great property!

A fantastic week away

  • 4 of 5

Excellent base to explore the area. Our group was comprised of four adults (two couples), a nine year old, and a toddler, so having three full separate bathrooms was ideal. The house was very clean, the kitchen well resourced, and all beds very comfortable. We absolutely loved our week at the Fisherman's House, but would like to see the living room updated with newer furniture as the small 2-seat sofa, chairs and basic TV are looking pretty dated. Also, the bedrooms are beautiful and light but some better blinds/curtains would be helpful to make them darker for the kids of an evening/morning.

Proximity to Peggy's Clove is great - we went most days for a morning espresso (Beales' Bailiwick) before the crowds arrived. A perfect place for day trips to Lunenburg (1h 15min), Halifax (50min), and lots of others in between. The kids loved swimming at Hubbards and Queensland beaches. Lobster Supper at The Shore Club is not to be missed!

Great Location and Charming Property

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at this restored fisherman's home on the water. This spacious, immaculately clean two story home was nicely furnished and you could see that a great deal of care was taken in restoring it. An added bonus was the ability to view beautiful sunsets from the shore behind the home. Tom and Donna were great resources for information on places to see and best restaurants in the area. Our only regret was that our 3 day stay at this lovely home was not long enough. We highly recommend this property to anyone visiting the Peggy's Cove area.
