Description

Hill City Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2)

The Couple's Cabin is a sweet log 'post & beam' construction in the Black Hills of South Dakota. Open all year long, this couple’s hideaway is tucked in behind the main house with the front door opening onto US Forest Service land. Total privacy and beautiful scenery. Because of the large windows in the living room & kitchen area you will feel as if you were outside - even when you are inside. Deer on the hillside and in the backyard are a common sight.

This cabin was the “home show display model” for a local log home builder thus everything is top of the line – cozy and comfortable. The large side-by-side refrigerator/freezer will accommodate food for as long as you choose to stay. You have a fully equipped kitchen with dishes, pots & pans, coffeemaker, microwave, crock-pot, toaster, blender, dishwasher & hot plate (due to a technicality in the County regulations - a range in not allowed - go figure???) and a gas BBQ grill, small fire pit and table & chairs right outside your front door. The night sky is star studded and brilliant. Lovely!

All linens and towels are provided. Very Comfortable Queen size bed. The bathroom has a large shower with LOTS of hot water. This will be your retreat after a busy day of sightseeing in the hills. Ideal location just a mile from Hill City, SD – The Heart of the Hills – turn off of Hwy 16/385 onto Village Court into the Storm Mountain Cottages continue across Spring Creek to the private property behind. This is where you will find your Black Hills nest AND life is good!

During season the rate is $129.00 per night; stay six consecutive nights and the seventh night is FREE. Season is Memorial Day through Labor Day. A three night minimum stay is strongly encouraged. First two weeks in August 2011 the cabin is rented by the week only - $850.00 per week - in honor of the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. Off Season rate is $99.00 per night. We do charge a $50.00 cleaning fee per stay. You can be assured of a absolutely clean home when you arrive. Your reservation deposit is ½ of your stay with the balance due 30 days prior to arrival. There is a required rental agreement with a security deposit of $500.00 secured with a major credit card. If cabin is left in the same condition as when you arrive, the damage deposit will not be charged. If warranted due to damage or extra cleaning an itemized statement will be mailed to you along with the credit card charge for the repairs.

Cancellation Policy: Re-scheduling your stay is always permissible without loss of deposit monies. Cancellations made 31 or more days prior to arrival will receive a refund of the deposit LESS $50.00 or 10% of the reservation whichever is more. If cancelled within 30 days of arrival the initial deposit will be forfeited. Partial deposit may be refunded if the property is re-rented. There will be NO refunds for no-shows, late arrivals, or early departures.

Please e-mail inquiries and/or call for reservations. We’d love to have you stay with us!

About Anne & Alan Case

Eleven years ago I was hired by a log hehome builder in Hill City as office manager. I was living in Rapid City at the time. Falling in love with the Hill City - Heart of the Hills - Area was way too easy! I moved here and my desire is for others to experience the beauty and peace of the Black Hills. I received my certification as a property manager from the State of South Dakota in August of 2008. I have nine Grand-Children. They are the joy of my life. I drive a 2002 PT Cruiser - with a couple of dings in my fender and I have a couple rips in my jeans. Rosie the Rover (lady goose) and Black Beauty (faithful laying hen) & 20 chickens also reside on the property. Farm fresh eggs for sale - $3.00 per dozen - assorted. The over abundance of field mice here in the country finally convinced me to caved in on the 'no cats' rule . . . so we now have a barn cat - Callie (yes, she is a calico). Please Note: Revised pet rule. 'NO NO NO cats are allowed inside the house or the cabin!'. No need to trigger any allergic reactions. When I worked part time at Pamida in Custer. My co-worker Jackie recuses dogs - so Daisy (pug) and O'Reilley (dachshund) are part of our happy home as of summer 2010. We strive for progress not perfection. I am blessed! Current employment in addition to my cabin and a family cabin that I take care of is at the Jon Crane Gallery in Hill City. When you are here please do check out Jon's watercolors of the Black Hills. Amazing & Awesome!

Excellent Cabin Experience

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent a week in the Couple's cabin and loved every minute. We covered as much ground as two can on our first trip to the Black Hills area and can't wait to return. I can't say enough about the central location to every thing much less the Custer Buffalo Round Up. That was the idea that started the whole trip. The cabin was wonderful and had everything we needed. Even a cabin cat that made us miss ours at home slightly less. The couples cabin was a home away from home and gave us the experience of a log home that we have always wanted. Can't say enough about it!!!! Thanks Annie and Alan for the opportunity to share your cabin.

Great cottage

  • 5 of 5

We spent several days at the Black Hills Sanctuary--Couple's Cabin. It was just as it was described. It was apparent from opening the door that this was a "home" not just a rental. The cottage is comfortable and well-maintained. It provided a peaceful and quiet home base after we had spent the day at various Black Hills locations--Mt. Rushmore, Custer State Park, Crazy Horse Monument, Bear Butte State Park, among others. The cottage is a very welcoming place and a great place to stay.

Truly a great spot in Hill City

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I have just returned from a 5 night stay at this cabin and it is everything it claims to be in the description. Great location, clean and comfortable. Hill City does not offer a lot in the way of good restaurants so it is a plus to be able to cook in the well thought out kitchen. The bed does have a comfortable mattress but is in serious need of updated pillows, comforter, blankets, etc. Also, it would be nice to have window coverings on the living room windows, seems eerie having them open in the evening with the seclusion of the cabin, that is my personal preference though. Even though we are not "cat people" it was so great to be greeted every day by the resident cat Callie, she was so sweet and affectionate, hung around with us a lot in the evening when we were out relaxing at the patio table.

Everything we hoped for and more

  • 5 of 5

From the moment we walked in the door, it was apparent that we had chosen wisely in selecting the Black Hills Sanctuary - Couple's Cabin. It immediately met all of our expectations. Warm, cozy, comfortable and welcoming -- it looks like a place you could enjoy for a week or more. We are halfway through our first week in the Black Hills, and coming back here each day after visiting sites in the area is truly enjoyable. It feels like home. The kitchen is spacious and provides ample room for food prep and eating at the counter. The bedroom [and bed] are quite comfortable, and each night has been very relaxing. For those who don't want to totally unplug, the cabin has wifi and cable tv. The cabin is quite close to all of the things a first time visitor would want [Custer State Park, Mt Rushmore, an abundance of hiking, and good food]. I couldn't recommend this place more . . . and we will certainly return.

Love this place!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I recently stayed at the Couple's Cabin for the SECOND time, (this time celebrating our first wedding anniversary) and once again had a fantastic time. It's the perfect location for seeing all the sights in the Black Hills. My husband and I visited Mt. Rushmore several times (try to attend a lighting ceremony when you visit!), Custer State Park, Jewel Cave, Bear Country, the Museum of the American Bison, the art alley in Rapid City, attended the buffalo round-up, etc. The cabin is clean, private, and nicely appointed. Annie keeps a nice collection of DVDs for the occasional rainy day, too. And the visits from Callie out on the patio are nice, too. :-) We will be back again!

Perfect spot to play

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here seven nights and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! The cabin was private and set away from the busy road. We grilled several nights here and just enjoyed sitting outside. The cabin was well stocked with everything we needed for our stay. The cabin was also very clean. Very close to Hill City and Custer State Park. Also close to Mt Rushmore and many other sites. It was the perfect location to so many places. Annie, the owner, was a pleasure to work with too!

We would stay here again if in the area!

Thank you Annie for a great place to stay!!!
