This Oceanfront end unit condominium is in a gated community of only 5 small Oceanfront buildings. Our condominium is in the only building that faces more Westward than Southward, giving optimum ocean views and unlike other units, we have windows along the entire West and North side of the unit, offering ocean views from two sides of the condominium (including views from the living room, dining area, kitchen window, and master bedroom windows). We have a large 150mm Zeiss designed binocular telescope mounted in the living room to view, ships, whales and other wildlife (see picture). Our unit offers dramatic coastal views from a large balcony (the largest of the balconies available), a short trail to hidden sandy beach, and a wood burning fireplace; the perfect romantic getaway. The condominium is adjacent to a 12 mile coastal park. The trail along the coast begins on the property.
Brookings, Oregon is in the 'Banana Belt'; a 30 mile, temperate micro-climate zone, with relatively stable year round temperatures. Sunny days are more common here than anywhere on the Northwest coast. Brookings is 6 miles from the Northern California border. Within 30 minutes to ancient California Redwood Groves. To the North is a 30 mile scenic corridor containing some of the most beautiful, ruggedly scenic coastline in the world; the Wild Rivers Coast. We provide a wonderfully furnished, well appointed condominium. Unlike others, our price includes up to four people for no extra cost. If you wish to avoid the $300 deposit you can purchase insurance through HomeAway for about $75.

Debbie purchased this condo in 2010
We literally traveled that world looking for a vacation home that would combine scenic beauty, low population, serenity, moderate climate, hiking accessibility, and ocean view. This offers all of these and more!
Unlike other vacation rentals, we do not charge extra fees for the third and fourth guests. We have a mounted 150mm Zeiss designed binocular telescope in the living room in front of the large picture window. We have down comforters on both beds and two flat screen televisions. We offer extra ocean viewing along the entire North side of the building as we are an end unit. We have DVDs, a laptop, a nice stereo/cd player, and books to enjoy. We have one of the few wood fireplaces in the community. We have an espresso maker in the kitchen.

We loved the condo and the nearby hiking trails and had a great time fly fishing the Chetco and Smith rivers
This is a well maintained, beautiful condo. The views are spectacular. This particular unit included a telescope binocular, which was fun to use day or night. The unit is well appointed with cooking items, as well as linens. We ate breakfast daily, and reheated left-overs with ease. The dining room table sits in front of the sliding glass doors to the balcony, so there is ocean view dining all the time! The swing on the balcony was wonderful for relaxing and watching the sunset. Other nice features include having 2 bathrooms, one with a large shower, great water pressure and lots of hot water. We really appreciated that after a day on the beach. We found that many of the Brooking area beaches took a little work to access. After all the storms, many had driftwood blocking the beach, and steep trails. In some cases climbing over huge driftwood logs was part of the adventure. This was true of the beach at the condo as well. It was fun to go through the sea cave at the condo beach and something we recommend. We took advantage of the condo's close location to the Sam Boardman Corridor, taking day trips to each of the beaches. We drove as far as Bandon, which is a great town to visit, and to Crescent City through the Redwood forest. The condo location makes day trips easy. We would recommend this condo and rainbow retreat. If we are lucky, we'll be back.
The condo was great. Very comfortable and well equipped, right down to the powerful binoculars. Comfortable beds and all the comforts of home. Makes you want to live there forever. The owner was extremely great to work with. Would definitely consider staying there again. The location of the condo is perfect for all kinds of activities.
There are too many wonderful things to say about Rainbow Rock Retreat. Debbie was fantastic to work with, was always quick to respond to our questions, and went above and beyond when there was an unusual glitch with HomeAway processing our payment. All was resolved and we are grateful for her help! The condo was very clean, cozy, quiet, and everything we wanted for a great relaxing week. The view is spectacular and provides wonderful sunsets. We saw deer, lizards, and a variety of birds from the condo. The restaurants and hikes Debbie recommended were fabulous, and be sure to get some ice cream at Slugs 'n Stones 'n Ice Cream Cones at the harbor. We recommend Indian Sands hike, for sure! The Oregon Redwoods and the No. California Redwoods are close by and worth the hike as well. This was our best vacation ever and we will be back, no doubt.
We loved our stay at this condo! The view is amazing, the beach is one of my favorites in southern Oregon (and just steps outside the door), and the condo was very clean and cozy. There are tons of extra perks--including a telescope for whale watching! The owner Debbie was friendly, helpful, and very responsive. We will be back for sure! Thanks Rainbow Rock Retreat!
This is the 4th unit at this condominium complex we have stayed in. This one, in particular, was not our favorite. There was a lot of room in this unit, it was not over furnished or cluttered. It was not as clean as expected. The linens were not the quality we would have expected. The view is amazing, it is our favorite beach. That being said the view is amazing from each of these condo units. The patio was leaning extremely and the patio furniture was uncomfortable-; being pub height and metal without any cushions. We could not get it to sit level without wobbling. There is a telescope that looks out to the ocean that is nice to have--it is high quality and works well. The kitchen was dirty and had ants in it. There was a can of Raid on the kitchen counter when we arrived, but we would never use it. The windows are nice to look out in this unit, but we needed to rearrange the furniture to take advantage of it. Overall an ok stay.
Quiet, small gated oceanfront condominium community on a gentle bluff above a sandy beach in a rugged and scenic coastal area, adjacent to coastal park and hiking trails. The trail to the beach is leads you to a virtually private cove. Within two miles of the quaint coastal harbor town of Brookings-Harbor, Oregon. There you will find fresh fish markets, art and antiques stores, a movie theatre, DVD rental, groceries, sports related stores, Kayak/surf equipment rental, restaurants, medical clinics, and more. The nearest private beach property is nearly 1/3 mile to the South and there are no private beach properties for about 14 miles to the North. The Community property is adjacent to the beginning of a 14 mile coastal park (the Samuel H. Boardman Scenic Coastal Corridor) with continuous trails and both forest and coastal trail access. You can literally walk out of the condo and onto the trail!
