You will discover T.P.'s Place on the east shore of Torch Lake. The home is set on 100 feet of shoreline at the end of a gently winding drive. T.P.'s Place was custom built to focus on comfortable living and the beauty of the lake. Stunning sunset views over the lake can be enjoyed from almost every room of the home.
The vaulted great room is the center of this home. It boasts a one and a half story ceiling with a natural stone fireplace giving it the classic Northern Michigan feel. Upstairs, the master bedroom suite offers a private bath with soaking tub and access to the balcony overlooking the lake. This home has all the amenities plus the private Torch Lake waterfront you will love.
Torch Lake is ranked one of the most beautiful lakes in the world with crystal clear water and a stunning aqua blue tint reminiscent of more tropical climates. The lake itself is 19 miles long by about 1 1/2 wide. It offers access to extensive recreational boating on 'the chain of lakes' which includes: Lake Bellaire, Grass River, Clam Lake, Torch Lake, Torch River, Skegemog Lake, and Elk Lake. This navigable water way totals some 65 square miles beautiful scenery. Fishing opportunities include, Lake Trout, Bass, pan fish and in 2009 the State Record Muskie was caught in Torch Lake. The Torch Lake sand bar is a popular anchorage at the southern tip of the lake. This unique feature offers boaters the perfect location to swim, play Frisbee, volleyball, or just enjoy relaxing on the boat. The Grass River and Skegamog Nature Preserves, the Villages of; Bellaire, Alden, and Elk Rapids are all accessible by water and provide extensive hiking, shopping, and dining opportunities.
Shows, festivals, restaurants, and shopping are available in Traverse City, Charlevoix, Petoskey, and the Leelanau Peninsula, all within an hours drive. Mackinac Island, Sleeping Bear Dunes, Beaver Island, and a variety of lighthouses are a little further but well worth the trip. This home is perfectly situated to provide access to all the magnificent beauty that Northern Michigan has to offer.

My family has shared a lifetime of memories on this shoreline. We have recently found that we are unable to enjoy our lake as much as we would like and we have decided to share it with others. It is my sincere hope that many new families will be able to create the type of wonderful memories of time together that I cherish.
This home was designed and built by my father T.P. and for him it was all about Torch Lake. Almost every room in the home has a view of the water. It is carefully tucked in to the natural woods with a nice open shoreline. It was his dream and I can only hope that you will enjoy it half as much as we do.
Torch Lake is a part of a 65 mile chain of lakes including Torch, Elk, Skegamog, Bellaire, the Grass River Nature Preserve, and various connecting lakes and streams. This allow access by boat to a variety of towns, shopping, and restaurants. Everything is available by water from a burger and fries to fine dining. An afternoon boat ride into Alden for ice cream cones is one of our families favorites.
This is a beautiful property with stunning views of Torch Lake in a picturesque setting. We were fortunate to celebrate our 20th Wedding Anniversary with a small vow renewal ceremony in the back yard overlooking the lake - it was perfect! The house itself has a great layout, is large with nice furniture and a well-stocked kitchen and wet bar. We have rented this cottage twice and hope to do so many more times.
TP's Place was everything they said it was and more! The house was a nice size for our family. There was room for us all to gather and room if we needed separation as well. The house was very clean and well maintained. You could tell that the family loves this house. We had one minor issue with the wifi, Kim was very responsive and it was resolved quickly. We appreciated knowing ahead of time about the driveway but had no issues getting our boat, which is smaller, in and out. We also appreciated knowing that the boat lift was unavailable for renters to use so were able to come up with an anchor system of our own that worked quite nicely. We would definitely stay here again!
We've rented TPs Place for 3 years in a row and this beautiful home just keeps getting better! This is an absolute treasure of a place on gorgeous Torch Lake. This has truly become our summer "Happy Place" and this home has provided so many incredible family memories for us! The home itself has undergone a few very nice updates since last year (gorgeous new floors and comfy furniture!) and is equipped with everything you could need and more! It also couldn't be in a better spot location wise....right between the cute towns of Bellaire and Alden. Most importantly this place provides you with the perfect seat to enjoy nightly sunsets over the lake! Really love this place so very much and hope to return for years to come!!!
We have stayed at TP's place the past two summers and absolutely love it! First of all, Torch Lake is just gorgeous! It honestly is one of the most beautiful lakes in the world. This beautiful home is located in the perfect spot to capture gorgeous sunsets over the lake every evening! Our family loves spending time in the cool waters, taking in the beautiful views from the dock or back balconies of the home, enjoying a drink by the lake at sunset, and starting every day with a cup of coffee while enjoying the beautiful morning view from the kitchen. The home itself is extremely well equipped and very spacious! There are beautiful large windows that face the lake from nearly every room allowing for wonderful views as well as cool breezes from the lake. We also love that the home sits off of the main road enough to provide privacy and the neighbors we have met have been very friendly. The home is also very conveniently located between Bellaire and Alden and only a short drive to Traverse City, Elk Rapids, and other tourist areas. I must also mention that Kim, the property manager, has always been extremely helpful and quick to respond anytime we've had a question. Overall we have found this home to be the perfect summer paradise! We hope to return with our family for many years to come!
Torch Lake is beautiful. TP's Place is a very well equipped and spacious home. The location was perfect. It allowed us to take day trips to Charloviox, Traverse City, Petoskey, Bellaire and Elk Rapids without long drives. However, there were some areas that we were
*The WiFi worked perfect for us the 1st day but after that we were unable to access it with the passwords given.
*Some of the neighbors were quite loud and partied with a large group until 3 am our 1st night there.
*We trailered an 18 ft. pontoon boat to enjoy the waterways. Upon inspection of the driveway, we determined we could not turn it around at the end and had a difficult time backing it down the driveway .
*We appreciated knowledge ahead of time that we could not secure the boat to the dock and could not use the shore station so we had to rent a boat slip away from the property so we could enjoy boating on the lakes. (Something renters who bring larger boats might want to consider)
*We have rented many cottages around Michigan before and have never been required to do so much cleaning. For example, mopping the floors and scrubbing the bathrooms at the end of our stay or taking care of the flowers on the property while we were there.
*It was quite warm during part of our stay and the fans that were provided, were not powerful enough to cool areas.
*We felt the decor was outdated and furniture in the living room was very uncomfortable.
I realize some of the above statements are out of the control of the owner but I feel future renters should be aware of the situations.
On a positive note, Kim, the caretaker, was very helpful during our search and rental confirmation. The home was very clean and we enjoyed watching the sunsets from the patio and bench on the dock.
We LOVED our stay here. Would love to come back next year. The lake does have some rock in it that you would want water shoes but other than that it is perfect. Quiet location and the lake is breathless. The house has plenty of room and was great to spend our week in.
thank you and am already thinking of our trip next year.
The Torch Lake Sand Bar: No summer would be complete without a visit to the Torch Lake Sand Bar. A unique shallow area on the South tip of the lake where a large number of boats congregate. Many visitors take advantage of the shallow, sometimes ankle deep, water to swim, play frisbee, volleyball, or take a stroll to the floating snack bar. Ski boat, pontoons, and jet skis are avialble to rent from several area marinas.
Traverse City: A short drive south will bring you to Downtown Traverse City, various winery tours on Old Mission Penninsula, or an afternoon at Horse Shows by the Bay. Horesback riding is available at Ranch Rodolph in the scenic Boardman Valley. The more adventuresome can find parasailing, helicopter, and hot air balloon tours. Just need to relax, try the Grand Traverse Resort Spa for a truely delightful treat. All this within 45 min of your home base on the sparkling east shore of Torch Lake.
