Just came back from a week at this absolutely gorgeous home with every amenity you can think of!! The house was spotless when we arrive. The owners could not be more thoughtful - fresh flower on the table, Deckhouse tee shirts for the family - including our 7 month old!! Such a special touch. The deck is enormous and the kids rode the scooters around the deck - so safe!! The yard is to die for - everywhere you look there is a new surprise!! Hammocks, chairs benches, blueberry bushes and on. Our family of 8 had the best vacation every!! W.Tisbury is the perfect town, easy to get everywhere and the beach is incredible. Thank you so much for sharing your home! It is awesome!!!
Loved this place! I stayed the week with my three children, daughter in law and two small grandchildren. It was the perfect place for the family. Has everything you need. The yard is enchanting. Still dreaming of relaxing in the hammock in the backyard and the outdoor shower which is to die for! Great location as well.... away from it all but not too far from anywhere you want to go on the island.
We spent a lovely couple of weeks at the Deck house in June. The property was in great condition and had everything you could think off, from kids toys to beach chairs. Don (the owner) was really helpful in making recommendations on places to visit. We hope to come back one day in the near future!
You will not be disappointed renting this house on the Vineyard! We loved the location-- easy drives to everywhere on the island. The listing description and photographs are accurate and the house has all of the amenities for a great Vineyard vacation. It was very easy for us to purchase a resident beach sticker at the local elementary school down the street on the day we arrived (Sunday). We also went back to the elementary school several evenings for our children to play basketball (nice courts). The house is well-maintained (more so than any house we have rented), clean, bright and cheery. The owners are lovely and take care to ensure that guests have what they need and are comfortable in the house. T-shirts are a fun and clever touch! We liked the proximity to the bike paths to bike and run-- would recommend biking on these paths with kids rather than on roads. We also enjoyed kayak rentals in Menemsha Pond, the many restaurant options around the island (reserve if you can), and local ice cream shops. Chilmark Chocolates a fun stop! Sunsets at Lambert's Cove are a must. We highly recommend this rental home, which could easily accommodate two smaller families as well.
We stayed at the Deck House at the end of September. It was perfect!
The house is located on a quiet, wooded street and is on a beautifully landscaped lawn. The deck goes around the entire house and is sprinkled with beautiful flowers throughout -- even the storage shed at the back of the yard has window boxes filled with flowers! The deck is huge and offers a big outdoor shower and many different sitting areas including a miniature umbrella table and chair set for kids. It was a big hit with ours! There are also hammocks in the yard!
The house is elegantly furnished with a beachy, spacious weekend feel. The kitchen is stocked with all the cookware/ utensils/ tools you need to cook. The views from every room are beautiful and the living area is enclosed by walls of windows looking out onto the yard. The house and yard provide an idyllic setting for a Martha’s Vineyard escape.
The owners told us that the house was centrally located. It’s so true! Everything seems to be no more than 15 – 20 minutes away at the most. There are also bike paths a couple minutes from the house that take you through beautiful wooded areas on a broad path. (Martha’s Vineyard Bike Shop, http://marthasbikerentals.com, delivered the bikes to us and picked them up.) A short bike ride or a 3 minute car ride will take you to the local school which has tennis courts, a basketball court and an excellent playground.
Last but not least, the owners left a binder full of information and insider tips about Martha’s Vineyard so you get a concierge to boot. The Deck House was lovely and we highly recommend it!
Rural and quiet with easy access to Lambert's Cove Beach-a calm and stunning private beach only accessible for West Tisbury residents and tenants. Seth's Pond is 7 minutes away, the town tennis courts even closer to the house. Also easily accessible is West Tisbury's historical center w/ the Farmer's Market, Field Gallery, Alley's Country Store and the library with it's cultural lectures, music offerings and weekly free movies. The bike and jogging paths are minutes away-a flat and easy amble-they connect throughout the Island for as quick or far-reaching an excursion as you desire.
West Tisbury is the only town w/ both a south shore and north shore beach offering totally different beach experiences. We've Sepiessa Preserve with waterfront access for small boat launching in Tisbury Great Pond as well as well-marked nature trails.. Kayaking and canoeing, surfing, and birdwatching are possible at our several nature preserves abutting beaches, enormous saltwater ponds, and outwash plains.
