Gold Bar House Rental Photos and Description

House, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4-5)

Our mountain house, The Cedarstone Riverhouse, is located only an hour away from Seattle, but you feel like you are in a different world. Far away from the traffic, the noise, and the lights, you are in a peaceful mountain paradise. Our home offers an enclosed deck with a hot tub, so you feel like the river flowing through the back yard is all yours. The front yard offers spectacular mountain views.

The home is cozy and warm, and offers all the amenities that you would need to entertain yourself at home. We have a huge fireplace that heats the home very nicely, a gas fireplace for more instant heat and ambiance. Even the drive up the road offers amazing views, including Sunset Falls.

Once you are in Index, you are less than thirty minutes from Steven's Pass Ski Mountain. Steven's has some of the best skiing and snowboarding in Western Washington. You are also close to many snow shoeing trails. If you prefer summer sports, kayakers put their boats in at the end of our road to enjoy the beautiful Skykomish river. We are also close to Lake Serene and the Index Wall, which offers climbers a difficult and rewarding climb.

Our home has hard wood and cork floors throughout. A towel warmer is in the bathroom (a great treat in the morning). There is a king size bed in the master bedroom and a queen bed in the second bedroom. The couch is also incredibly comfortable. We have done everything we could to make our home comfortable, and the perfect escape from the city.

About The Owner

As an outdoor enthusiast, Index is where I love to call home. I love to ski in the winter and hike and camp in the summer. I also love to travel and always enjoy visiting new places and discovering new things. In addition, I really enjoy working on my home and putting unique touches on things. I love antiques and I use as much antique as I can in my decorating.

The Owner purchased this house in 2005

Why The Owner chose Central Cascade Mountains

I originally bought a cabin across the street in 1992. I completely fell in love with Index. The mountains and the river are so beautiful. I always felt at home when I was there. In 2005 the house across the street from my cabin came up for sale. I immediately bought it and set about updating it. Index is so close to all the things I love. It is twenty minutes from the ski slopes, five minutes from the Lake Serene hiking trail, and fifteen minutes from the Index Climbing wall.

What makes this house unique

Our home has the most gorgeous view of the river from the kitchen and the living room. You can sit at the dining room table and watch the river flow by, or you can go out on the deck and watch the river from the hot tub. The front yard offer spectacular views of the mountains. The house comes equipped with a big screen HDTV, and a BluRay player with over 100 movies to choose from.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Hi there-

we are back in the "urban jungle" after spending some glorious in the country days at your beautiful Index river house. How happy we are that we found you! Mike went hiking on Monday and I spent the day exploring "up river" and then later staying put reading a book and listening to the sound of the river in the background. We are already talking about when we can get away again...perhaps in October.

I was amazed at all of the "things" you had in that far as kitchen accessories, you are prepared for everything from baking a cake to mixing margaritas!!

We tried to leave the house in perfect condition...though it was hard to leave the house, period!

We didn't try out the hot tub...maybe another time when the temps dip below 80!

Thanks again for the opportunity to experience such a great place!

OK Cabin, Beautiful Location

  • 3 of 5

The location of this cabin is beautiful, but not the easiest to get to from the main road. However, the owners provided great directions. The cabin itself is very small and looks a bit old. The property could use some updates and a deep cleaning - it was very musty and we noticed a lot of cobwebs. The hot tub was also not clean. Overall, we were in the area for a wedding and had a pleasant stay, but wouldn't return if in the Index area again.

Perfect cozy cabin

  • 5 of 5

Perfect for a weekend with friends, well-equipped cabin and gorgeous view of the weather.. We got cozy in front of the fireplace, soaked in the hot tub, and enjoyed the EXTENSIVE dvd collection. Owner was extremely helpful and friendly in communications prior to the trip. Our plan was to play in the snow and we were hoping we'd be able to do that closer to the cabin, but that's no one's fault. Note: wifi didn't work, which was fine with us, but if that's important to you, you might want to check on it before hand.

Authentic Cabin Experience!

  • 5 of 5

The pictures do not come close to representing how beautiful and cozy this cabin is. From the minute we walked in the door, we were in awe. It feels exactly how you would want a cabin to feel. All of the lighting touches provide the warmest ambiance, and the wood stove heats it beautifully! The décor is eclectic, adding to the cabin feel. The King bed could do well with a memory foam topper, but it's not a deal-breaker. From the rushing river, tons of snow all around, delightful hot tub, and FULLY stocked kitchen; it was so hard to leave. We are already planning our next trip. Thanks for an amazing 3 nights!

Great quiet spot that is well cared for and unique in its atmosphere!

  • 5 of 5

Been here a few times now with my now fiance. Perfect cabin for a relaxing getaway, especially if your planning a day or 2 skiing or boarding up at stevens pass. Wonderful to have the quiet outside, with all the amenities of home and a hot tub! We both love the decor and feel of the cabin, you can really appreciate the time paid to set this place up right.

Beyond Expectation

  • 5 of 5

Cozy cabin in a serene setting. From stacked split firewood for the wood burning stove and outdoor fire pit, to the 4 burner gas grill, to the large clean hot tub, to the creative decorations through out we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Directions and emails from owner were spot on. Enjoyed exploring the area and the solitude of the river. If you plan on visiting the PNW this is a treat!
