The kitchen is fully fitted and is divided from the living room by a worktop and breakfast bar. Living room has sofa and dining table for 6.
It has air conditioning, floor heating and internet wi-fi.
Our apartment is located in the university district and just two bridges from Campo Santa Margherita which is noted on Public Places ''60 of the Worlds Greatest Places'' list and it is the largest square in Venice and a popular hangout for Venetians young and not so young. It has a great choice of restaurants and cafes and a vegetable and fish market. You can sit in the sun and enjoy a coffee or a cocktail and watch the world go by.
The Gaffaro apartment (named after the bridge it overlooks) is conveniently located for your arrival and departure as it is a short walk from the train station and the bus station at Piazzale Roma. You can walk to Rialto in 15 minutes and get to St. Mark's square in 20 minutes by taking the vaporetto at San Toma'.
I'm a venetian that still leaves and works in Venice, with a wife and three kids.
Sebastiano Zafalon purchased this apartment in 2000
Me and my wife lived in this apartment untill 2008, so we made it as we liked and everything has been recently renovated. It is in a central and residential area of Venice, Dorsoduro, where you can find all the shops for your needs, from the organic products to the baker, butcher, pharmacy, etc...
The view! from the three windows in the living room/kitchen you can enjoy the view of three canals passing by the apartment with all sorts of boats, private/gondolas with singer/working boats. You don't even need to go out, just by a bottle of cool Prosecco and enjoy Venice from you holiday home!
We stayed at Sebastiano's apartment during this past New Year's week and thought it was the perfect apartment for our needs. The view was exactly as pictured with windows on two sides of the living room and the kitchen which gives the place a light and airy feel (even in the middle of winter). We shopped and cooked a lot and the kitchen was extremely well equipped and easy to use. The radiant heat floors made arriving home after a day's worth of sightseeing out in winter temps so welcoming and comfortable. Sebastiano was away when we arrived but we were met by his sister, who was wonderful, spending a great deal of time making sure that we were oriented to the apartment and giving us suggestions for shopping and sightseeing, including some quick recipes for the foods that were in season in winter. Arriving from the airport was particularly easy. We took the land bus and had no problem walking the couple of "blocks" to the apartment. We would recommend this place without hesitation and are planning to be back again very soon!
I loved every minute of my 5 day stay in this elegant, airy, beautifully equipped and spotlessly clean apartment with great views over the junction of three canals. In a lovely part of Dorsoduro that feels like a residential neighbourhood, with lots of local shops and bars and barely 4 minutes walk from Campo Santa Margherita with its lively bars and restaurants, many students, a supermarket, fruit stalls, great gelato bars, residents doing their shopping on the way home from work and local children playing. Far enough from San Marco not to feel swamped by tourists but near enough to walk to the Accademia and San Marco and the Rialto markets. In fact, you can walk everywhere from here. The station is also very close. The apartment has been beautifully renovated and maintained and Sebastiano, the owner, is charming and very helpful. For five glorious days I felt as though I were living here, not just visiting. I can't recommend this apartment highly enough and can't wait to return.
The apartment is very close to train and bus stations, and overlooks canals with many nearby restaurants. The owner met us on arrival and was pleasant and helpful. The apartment is comfortable, but has limited casual seating and hard floors without rugs -a somewhat sterile, but quite clean place.
My wife and I just returned from a wonderful stay at the Gaffaro Apartment. It was our Anniversary, so we wanted a quiet, private, spot away from the crowds in St. Mark's, but we didn't want to be too far from the center of town. This location was ideal. It is just a 2 minutes walk across a bridge to the Pizzale Roma (taxis, bus, water taxi, ATM), but you are far enough away that it feels like you are in a quaint local neighborhood. There are great local restaurants and shopping just outside the apartment, or, you have the option of walking 10-20 minutes to Rialto, St. Marks, Cannaregio, etc. The top floor apartment is updated and immaculate, yet still charming. There is a nice sized kitchen with everything you need to prepare a full meal, a comfortable sitting/dining area overlooking the canals, a quite bedroom with plenty of closet space, and a modern bathroom with laundry. The owner, Sebastiano, met us at the apartment himself. He made us feel right at home, and he gave us loads of great advice about the city and the local neighborhood. This was one of our best VBRO experiences ever. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip to Venice.
This is our second time staying at this apartment, that's how much we love it. The location and views are fantastic and Sebastiano is a superhost who is very helpful and accommodating. Don't look any further and book this fabulous apartment, everything about it is perfect. Thank you Sebastiano and if we ever go back to Venice we will definitely book your apartment again.
This is a beautiful apartment with a fantastic view over two canals that are quiet. The neighbourhood is peaceful yet 5 minutes walk to a big piazza with cafes and 15-20 min walk to the Academia. The apartment is clean and beautifully renovated and the kitchen is well-equipped and easy to cook in.
Sebastiano met us and explained how everything worked and oriented us to Venice on a map. My wife and I were very happy here away from the crowds of Venice but close enough to walk to many sights. The boat along the Grand Canal leaves from the train station or Piazza Roma which is a lovely 10 minute walk. We would love to return to this place and spend more time in Venice,
