Stunning, architect-designed, custom-built, cedar-sided, two-story, 2100-square-foot home has a two-car, over-sized garage, knotty pine/lodge pole decor, tile, Corian, vaulted ceiling, skylights, bay windows, and French doors leading to a huge, sunny, low-to-the-ground cedar deck. This lovingly cared-for home includes hand-crafted mirrors, custom skylights, and paneled cedar doors. There is a tiled entry hall and a half bath downstairs. Upstairs there are three large bedrooms, two full baths, and a game room with sofa-sleeper, soccer table, TV, DVD and VCR players, plus DSL.
The gentle sloping driveway with snow plowing service provides easy winter access. The half-acre lot offers conifers, aspens, flowers, sun, and privacy. No pets and no smoking.
Close to trails (including extensive West Shore/Truckee River bike path), world-famous ski areas, creeks, and beautiful Lake Tahoe.
We are George Forman and Judi Colby, we live and work in the Bay Area.. We bought the lot, thick with conifers, in 1999, designed and completed construction of our dream vacation home by April of 2000. We oriented the house and large deck to receive lots of sun and open sky, while keeping firs, pines, cedars, and aspens on the sides for privacy and mountain scenery. We love to x-country ski and snowshoe in winter, and hike, bike, and kayak during other times. The house is located for having quick access to those and other outdoor activities. Building a house in this spectacular location was truly a labor of love.
Wherever you are in this home, there are beautiful views! Everything is lovingly decorated, but feels so welcoming. The large, well supplied kitchen and spacious dining area had everything we needed for our family gathering. George and Judy couldn't be any nicer to work with. We enjoyed our time here and hope to stay again this summer!
Wherever you are in this house, there are pleasing views. The high ceilings and extensive natural light are uplifting. The location is very convenient to Tahoe City. Everything you could need or want for preparing a family meal is available in the well designed kitchen and dining rooms. George and Judy couldn't be nicer to work with! We love this house and hope to spend more time there this summer!
Walk In – Feel right at home! Put your feet up and relax. Perfect areas for conversations and those family games. Excellent lighting for quiet reading. Time for dinner? We found everything we needed in logical locations, instinctively stored, clean and sharp, and enjoyed the outside complete with barbeque, picnic area, squirrels and birds. Sleepy time? Comfy mattresses and pillows. Everything worked easily so we didn’t need to contact the owners. Unique design features delighted the eye in many spaces and we took home some new ideas for decorating our home. You won’t be disappointed. We are going back this year.
My friends and I rented Judi's and George's house for our annual ski trip. There were five of us total, and it was almost too big; a good problem to have. It's spacious, has the perfect layout for groups, and is nicely renovated while still maintaining that small cabin feel. It was very clean and is just a mile south of Tahoe City, which is an easy walk or ride on the dedicated recreation path (using bikes included with the house). Fireplace and a high quality foosball were the icing on the cake. Thanks again!
For several years now, this lovely spacious home has been our summer retreat. The house is roomy, sunny, immaculately clean and maintained, the layout is fabulous, and very well equipped. Judi, the owner, is wonderful to work with and always available to make sure that all is in order. Because this very special house feels like home we look forward to our stay every summer.
My wife and I spent New Years at this house and absolutely loved it. The pictures and description do not do it justice. It is beautiful, spacious, easy and pristine. The highlight of the house is the very large living and dining area that is appointed in hand finished hard wood. The 3 formal bedrooms are supplemented by a den that can also be used as a bedroom. Directions that clearly describe how to operate appliances (heat, washer/dryer, etc) are discretely displayed and made it very easy to use unfamiliar appliances. Lastly, the house is 100% spotless, clearly resulting from the care of owners who love this home. We were fortunate to find this gem and we plan to return very often!
Activities: Hiking, water skiing, river rafting, kayaking, mountain biking, skiing, ice skating, snow shoeing. Lakeside restaurants, world famous ski areas, wilderness trails, and largest lake in California.
