Hi! We're James and Wendy. We've lived in Mystic for the past 8 years and have raised our children here. Mystic has so much to offer, we'd love to share it with you!
Wendy and James Canty purchased this house in 2009
John Denison House was once a corn shed on the Denison Farm, Mystic's earliest settlement. Later moved down the hill to its current location, John Denison House has been restored and renovated to allow 21st century amenities and comfort whilst still retaining its historic charm. Stay in a bit of history!
Walk to everything Mystic has to offer!
Excellent place & great hosts. Near everything in Mystic. Historical landmark cottage, great views.
Perfect for a week or two to get the most out of a vacation in Mystic.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house is within walking distance to all the destinations in Mystic. It is stocked with everything you need. We had 8 people and we were very comfortable. Would definitely stay here again.
We had a wonderful vacation in Mystic for our first time visiting the area. Staying at the home was so relaxing and the owners were so accommodating to us. We would recommend this home to anyone who may inquire and we will definitely go back!
We really enjoyed our stay at this lovely house. The house included all the basic amenities plus some as added bonus! We loved the house book which included restaurant & activity recommendations. We pretty much used this as our guide for our stay. We loved that we could walk to most attractions & restaurants so it was easy to return to Mystic Seaport for 2nd day. I would highly recommend this house to others. The owners were very responsive and pleasant to deal with too. Thank you Wendy! Your house is fab!
My husband and I spent a lovely week at the John Denison house while exploring Mystic and surrounding areas. Unique cottage with history but updated for comfort. It was well located, quick walk to shops and the Mystic Seaport. Owners Wendy and James have outfitted the house so well, like being at home. Peaceful setting. We really appreciated the book letting us know particulars about the house and sightseeing recommendations.

We absolutely loved our stay in the house! Location is ideal, walk to everything: fabulous shops, restaurants, and activities. We walked to the aquarium, the seaport, the shops. We took a short drive to the beautiful Misquamicut Beach, and another short drive to the USS Nautilus Submarine Museum. Every detail is tended to in order to make your stay more accommodating. Was able to cook in the fully stocked kitchen, BBQ, choose a book from the shelf and play board games from the nice selection on hand. Even DVD's were provided for our down time at home. Upon arrival the house was immaculate. So many comforts of home that you usually don't find in a rental. James and Wendy you have done an outstanding job and we thank you so much for your hospitality!
Living in Mystic has been like being on permanent vacation for our family! There is always something to do, from walking to the point of Napatree, to mountain biking at bluff point, lounging on amazing beaches, and spoiled for choice with local restaurants. Two highly reputed restaurants are opening Spring 2014. And on cold nights we may even take the short 15 minute drive to Foxwoods for a bit of gaming.
