Our beautiful property and cabin is strategically located in the heart of Alaska’s premier summer playground, the “Kenai Peninsula” - 120 miles south of Anchorage (this is where the major airport is located). You have easy road access to the ocean, numerous rivers, lakes, and tourist destinations. We can be your base of operations and provide our many years of experience to help guide you to the best fishing and vacation activities for your desired time of visit.

It is important to note that specific fishing opportunities vary from month to month. We can help customize your visit to make your Alaska adventure successful and one to remember. We have many years of fishing and outdoor excursion experience and can organize a lodging and fishing package to match the dates of your visit. You may book your guided fishing directly through Eagle Head for 3 species of Salmon, Rainbow Trout, and Halibut as well as fly outs for remote area fishing and bear viewing. Our prices are very competitive because of the volume of fishing that we do and we use local guides who know where the fish are.

There are many additional side excursions that may interest you (see list below). Just let us know your interests and we can direct you to these providers.

- Whale and Marine Mammal Viewing

- Bird Viewing

- Sea Kayaking & Canoeing

- Clamming

- Horse back riding

- Helicopter sight seeing

- Hiking and Eco tours

- Golfing

- Various spa packages

Lodging and fishing packages are required for the peak season of July 1 thru August 7th. Fishing on site may continue to be productive well into August. May, June, August, and September still have very good area fishing with local and fly out charter operators. Check out the following seasonal information for the specific fish species: Your fishing in Alaska is date sensitive.

Halibut ---------------------May 1 - September 30

Saltwater Kings-----------May 1 – June 30

Kenai Kings--------------- May 1 – July 31

Sockeye Salmon-----------June 10 – August 20

Silver Salmon--------------August 15 – October 31

Pink Salmon----------------August 15 – October 31

Rainbow Trout-------------June 15 – October 31

Note: The Kenai River fishing for trout and Silver salmon in September and October can only be described as outstanding and better. The crowds are gone and the wildlife viewing for moose and bear while floating this magnificent river are above average. There are several river guides providing full day float charters for this outstanding fishing and viewing. A good camera is a must have item. The fall colors are starting to surface making your stay very pleasant and rewarding.

It is our goal to make your visit to Alaska the best experience of your life. You will be visiting one of the most beautiful destinations in the world, and we are proud to help you in any way we can. Please contact us with any questions you have, or to book the most incredible adventure of your life!

About Ron or Denise

My wife and I moved our family to Alaska in 1990 to realize the dream of residing in the "Last Frontier".

Raising our children while doing what we love - outdoor activities such as fishing, camping, boating and other wilderness activities - in our spare time was amazing. In the summers we would head out in our little red Zodiak inflatable boat and camp and fish along the Alaska coast.

My career took us away from Alaska for a time, but now that we are retiring and our children are raised, we are beyond thrilled to be back where we belong - on the Kenai Peninsula.

With years of fishing and excursion experience and a deep love for all things Alaska, my family and our amazing on-site property managers Ron and Denise, can help make your Alaska vacation dreams come true. We are committed to giving you the experience of a lifetime.

Ron or Denise purchased this cabin in 2015

Why Ron or Denise chose Kenai Peninsula

We have over 200 feet of river frontage with some of the best fishing in all of Alaska. We are right in the middle of the Kenai Peninsula, this location gives access to the best outdoor excursions with only a short driving distance. Every trip to Homer or Seward is an adventure in itself as the drive is breathtaking and you regularly see wildlife in the beautiful wilderness setting.

What makes this cabin unique

You will not find a nicer cabin on the Kenai River and the view is beautiful. In addition it is amazing to watch the eagles fish the river daily and return to their huge nests in the immediate area. Many times we experience Moose swimming across the river, sometimes with their new calves. During the summer we also see brown and black bear in the area. Every day is an adventure. It is simply one of the very best lodging and excursion opportunities in Alaska.

Adventure of a life time...

  • 5 of 5

Absolutely positively the best of the best possible locations to stay in Alaska... And then if your are interested in actually hooking up and "landing" salmons... There is no better place..

The cabins are amazing...

Hosts incredible...

But the fishing is off the charts.... "Private Dock".... If you have fished the river... Then you know... During the season it's wall to wall fisherman.... But not here... And all the gear you can imagine is hanging on the wall.. Ready for you to use and if that's not enough... Ron is standing by with a life time of experiences to guide you through the process..

And there is Denise... As sweet and charming as a host you could ever imagine... Denise made sure everything was perfect for us upon arrival and throughout our entire stay

As previously stated... The best of the best!!!

Sweet Memory

  • 5 of 5

We feel lucky to find Eagle Head. Our family spent a wonderful time there. The log cabin is very well maintained and decorated nicely. Our hosts, Ron and Denise are so nice and helpful. They made us feel like visiting friends instead of just renting the place. Ron showed my husband and son how to clean the fishes. And I enjoyed talking to Denise every day after our outings. I will definitely recommend to friends.

fall visit and fishing

  • 5 of 5

Eagle Head is amazing! No other words do it justice. These "cabins" are better than anybodies home, and at the same time rustic. They really give you that Alaska feel that is part of the magic of the visit. Great views of the river, the eagles, and great salmon too. Ron and Denise are like family, and they make sure every need is accomodated. They also arranged a float trip for rainbows and arctic char to see more of the river, so there was variety to the fishing. Big fish and lots of fun. I will definitely be back... :)

Five Stars!

  • 5 of 5

Perfect is the word that best describes our recent stay at Eagle Head Cabins! The owners Ron and Denise are consummate hosts and have considered every detail that will make your stay there perfect. We felt like family and consider ourselves fortunate to have been able to stay with them and get to know them.

The grounds are beautiful and all of the cabins are immaculate, secure, decorated with local art, have WiFi, DVD and Direct TV. The kitchens have all of the essentials, along with a private BBQ to prepare real meals. Laundry facility is also provided.

Fishing platforms are provided for guests to enjoy carefree fishing. Top quality, pre-rigged gear is also provided for those that don’t have equipment. Ron’s knowledge of the local conditions really helps anglers dial in where to fish. A fish cleaning station is provided, complete with a commercial vacuum packing machine and freezer space. Vacuum bags are provided without charge. This convenience really helped because we didn’t have to drive to Soldotna to have our fish processed each day. There was even a digital scale to weigh the boxes of fish we shipped back home. Almost forgot, unlimited ice is provided free of charge!

While we concentrated our efforts on fishing, it wouldn’t matter what your vacation entailed… wildlife viewing, sight seeing, complete and total relaxation… Eagle Head Cabins fits the bill.

So, here is the bottom line. Eagle Head Cabins may be a few dollars more than the competition. However, the dollars quickly add up when you consider the conveniences like laundry, free ice and fish processing. Finally, if you’re looking for a quality experience in serenely beautiful surroundings, look no further - Eagle Head Cabins are perfect!

We plan to stay with Ron and Denise again. In fact, we will be back next year and hopefully for many years to come. Thanks Ron, Denise, Rocky and Max for making our visit to the Kenai the best ever! Eagle Head Cabins deserves a Five Star Rating.

Mahalo and Aloha,

Tom and Laura

Incredibly gorgeous cabins on Kenai River with gracious hosts and full amenities

  • 5 of 5

Our group of 8 long-time friends stayed with Ron and Denise in three of their beautiful cabins this month. From the moment we drove up in our van until to the moment we drove out to head to the airport, they treated us as royals. Their gorgeous property has 4 separate rental cabins of various sizes and configurations plus another efficiency. These units have everything you need to get started - from new comfortable beds and plenty of bath towels - to full kitchen amenities including all dishware, pots and pans, kitchen dish soap, paper towels, and even coffee and filters (and spices, cooking oil, etc. that other guests leave). And a welcoming bottle of wine and binder with plenty of helpful information awaits you on your kitchen table. Ron has plenty of rods set, ready for you to walk down to the Kenai River just steps away where he'll give you expert advice on how to pull in salmon. And then he displays his expert filet technique right on the spot. He and Denise even made us some of their family recipe salmon dip (delicious)! Each day of our stay we ventured out for exciting excursions - from an offshore fishing excursion booked through Ron (we got our limit of halibut and plenty of salmon), to a float plane trip to Lake Clarke National Park where we fished for salmon and trout on light tackle on Lake Crescent, with grizzlies down the shore line (again, booked through Ron). And one day we drove looking for moose and wildlife and saw a mom and calves just minutes from the Eagle Head cabins, and more down the road. We also saw plenty of bald eagles on our drive down to Homer. Eagle Head is located in a perfect convenient location to do whatever you want to do. And it's convenient to Soldotna where there are restaurants (although the cabins are well equipped to cook meals), and a large Fred Meyer grocery/dept store with everything you need. And Ron keeps a "thirst-aid" kit (large insulated igloo cooler) filled with beer and soda for his guests. He also provides coolers and ice for your excursions - and has connections for shipping your frozen fish home. We highly recommend Eagle Head Cabins for your vacation if you want the best in accommodations in a great location - with wonderful hosts. We will definitely return :-)

I spent 6 fantastic days in Alaska at Ron and Denise's cabins this summer with my family and friends. I've been to alot of places all over the world and this was my favorite vacation. I knew from the phone calls with Ron, this would be an awesome trip. The cabins are beautiful and even more than I expected. The pictures online are great - but just wait until you walk in the front door - WOW! We all grabbed a drink and went down to the fishing docks and were greeted by a show from the bald eagles. They were right by the cabins every day and a couple golden eagles came in as well. Ron set up a halibut fishing trip for us(we limited out) and a fly in silver salmon trip(2 shy of our limit). They were alot of fun. Because of weather, our halibut trip was going to be cancelled. Ron worked hard and got us out on another day - thank you very much. It was so nice to visit with Ron and Denise and get to know them and their life in Alaska. Whenever we came back from a hike or a fishing trip, Ron was around the property to say hi and make sure everything was going well. It's rare to find someone that cares so much about other people's happiness. I am so thankful that I found Ron and Denise. There is nothing that I would change about our vacation to Alaska - other than staying longer. This was a trip that I truely did not want to end. The beauty is unbelievable. There is so much to do - the hiking and fishing are fantastic. In just a short time, you feel like Ron and Denise are family. Thank you Ron and Denise for a very memorable trip. You took the work out of everything so I could just enjoy the experience with my family and friends. These memories are priceless as you both are. The cabins are beautiful and so is the view of the Kenai River. Ron and Denise make a fantastic salmon dip as well. Thanks for sharing it with us. I look at our pictures and can't wait to return. THANK YOU THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DID TO MAKE OUR VACATION SO WONDERFUL. I REALLY APPRECIATE IT.
