Sonoma Cottage Rental Photos and Description

1 Bedrooms, 1 Bathrooms, Sleeps 2 (TOT#408)

The Cottage sits on a knoll, on 5 acres of land, overlooking the eastern hillsides and the vineyards of the Carneros wine region. The Cottage is an excellent stay for a couple to celebrate an anniversary, spend a honeymoon or just get away. (TOT#408)

Major wineries are within a 5 to 10 minute drive. (Viansa, Cline, Gundlach Bundschu, Buena Vista, Sebastiani, Ravenswood just to name a few.)

The deck off the back of the cottage offers complete privacy and a wonderful place to enjoy morning coffee with the rising eastern sun, relax with afternoon tea, or celebrate the day with evening wine and cheese. The views are marvelous over the top of the oaks and vineyards. On cool evenings relax by the fire and enjoy music, snuggle up, view a movie or sit back with a good book.

Two Morgan horses graze in our pastures. See them on our website

The area is safe and quiet for evening or morning walks. Walk a mile or take on four.

Lovely stay!

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week at Windhaven, half of it in the cottage, half in the studio. Bob and Wendy were delightful hosts. Their property is beautiful with lovely gardens and a short drive to the square. We loved the peace and quiet! Both properties were clean and comfortable. We particularly loved the cottage...smaller, but a great deck with a wonderful view. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit!

Perfect Getaway Destination

  • 5 of 5

My first VRBO experience was perfection, thanks to Bob & Wendy and their lovely cottage. My fiancé and I decided to plan a short weekend getaway trip to Sonoma to relax and enjoy the scenery. When we arrived, Bob greeted us and oriented us to the cottage. When he discovered that we planned to do some biking during our stay, he let us borrow their bikes and provided us with a map of the area. His recommendations for additional activities and dining were also much appreciated. While we loved exploring downtown and biking to wineries, we also enjoyed staying in one evening to eat on the balcony overlooking beautiful vineyards and relaxing in the hot tub. I'm so glad that we've discovered this gem, and we will surely be back to visit again!

Quality VRBO

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed in this VRBO for an impromptu getaway to Sonoma.

Before driving up the long driveway, you're greeted by two horses in a small field to your right. As you climb the driveway you're greeted with views of a quaint cottage garden overlooking the Carneros vineyards. Bob and Wendy were such a pleasure from booking to checkout. The hot tub on the private porch overlooking the vineyards was the perfect ending to our anniversary trip. Wish we had time to borrow the bikes and cruise around the neighborhoods.

Owner's Response: To our New Orleans guests, Thank you!. We truly appreciate your comments. We loved meeting you. The pleasure is definitely ours having you as our guests. We cannot tell you how much we appreciate your leaving the cottage in excellent condition. You make our job easy. Next time you come out, give yourselves more time to cruise around on the bicycles, and take advantage of more of the events that are always taking place around Sonoma Valley. All the best, Wendy and Bob

Great setting for a quiet Sonoma getaway

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Windaven Cottage. The property is a few miles away from the plaza so you get a peaceful and tranquil setting overlooking the hills. Great touches are the 2 person hot tub in the deck, gas fireplace and complimentary bottle of wine. There's also a pretty good kitchenette although we didn't use it. Bob and Wendy's communication prior to our stay was top notch and their recommendations for local spots was also very helpful. Would definitely stay here again.

Perfect Anniversary Getaway

  • 5 of 5

What a great find. My wife and I had a wonderful stay at Windhaven Cottages for our 10th Anniversary trip to CA from NH. There are 2 cottages on the property separated by the driveway, but each is still very private. The cottages sit behind the proprietors house on a large hilltop plot with gated drive and looks out over the valley of the moon. Bob and Wendy were fabulous hosts, and were very helpful in offering driving directions, tips on restaurants, or any other information.

The location was perfect for us. 5 minutes to downtown Sonoma and also close to the road heading to Napa. The cottage was spotless and very well stocked, with everything this home foodie needed to put together some nice dinners. Sitting in the hot tub in the evening looking out over the hillside sipping on some Pinot can't be beat. The couple in the other cottage were very nice as well, and we wound up having a bottle of wine and cheese with them one afternoon and also running into them at the Farmer's Market downtown.

Probably the best day of our stay was the day we borrowed the bicycles and spent the entire day biking around Sonoma, hitting up the tasting rooms, going to the restaurants and shopping -- just a wonderful time.

A couple of our favorite winery stops were Benziger, Gundlach Bundschu, and Buena Vista. Had a great wine/dinner pairing at St. Francis winery (OK wine, but amazing food and scenery). For dining we liked Della Santina's and Maya in downtown Sonoma, and Barndiva in Healdsburg had the best burger I've ever had in my life.

Wonderful Sonoma "home away from home"

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time staying at the cottage. Bob is a great host, full of travel tips and written maps of the area. We biked to wineries in the area including Ravenswood, Gunlach-Bunchu and others. The cottage is perfect, with a private balcony and hot tub overlooking a vineyard. We would like to return to Sonoma and stay again at this property. Location is a 10, safe for walking and biking in the country side. Thanks to Bob for a wonderful vacation.
