We bought the property in 1994 with the idea of building a Duplex with a fantastic view. We had Top of the Pines built to our specifications in 1995. We designed the house so both sides has privacy.
Carol & Al Ruiz purchased this condo in 1995
We love the view and have always loved Yosemite Nation Park. we had been visiting the park since we where children.
Very helpful, lovely setting, perfect location inside the park. I couldn't ask for better host's.
The place was very roomy and comfortable for three of us. I didn't check the downstairs but my friends looked very happy with each room. What I loved most is the big covered patio with cozy furniture and BBQ grill. The weather was perfect to stay outside during and after dinner!
We were a family of 6 adults and two young boys, and I couldnt' have asked for a more perfect place as base for Yosemite. It was about 30 min to the Valley and right down the road from teh Glacieer Point road with all it's lovely hiking trails(and BTW, the Glacier Point Road is an even better place to see stars than the driveway. About 5 minutes up the road the trees open up and there's a turn off with a low stone wall you can lie on. Absolutely breathtaking. Not that the driveway is anything to sneeze at. The stars are beautiful. The house was roomy, well-appointed, the bedrooms spacious and comfortable and extra bedding available.. My favorite part was the deck, where we ate every evening as we watched the sun sink over the next ridge. The silence is almost startling at night, because except for widely spaced homes, it's you and the trees. I recommend it highly and would go back in a minute.
We were two families totaling 7 (8 for one night) people ages 16 to 63. Its location inside the park can't be beat - close to Glacier Point (for amazing sunsets and moonrises), Yosemite Valley (for all the iconic reasons Yosemite NP is so beloved), and Wawona (for horseback riding, swimming and a respite from the busyness of Yosemite Valley). Mariposa Grove was closed for restoration during our stay. Top of the Pines is beautiful and well-appointed. The decks are a wonderful feature and fit all of us at mealtime, gave space to gather in small groups for quiet chats, and even allowed some of the crew to sleep outdoors. The kitchen is well-appointed and the washer & dryer was appreciated. The bedrooms are spacious with plenty of extra bedding. The two full baths were handy for such a large group. We didn't use the TV or movies (too busy chatting and playing games!) but these are good options to have available. Carol was responsive and helpful. I would stay here again and would recommend it to friends. All of us have wonderful memories of our special time at Top of the Pines. Thanks, Carol, for allowing us to enjoy your beautiful home!
We had a really good time during our stay at top of the pines. Our original unit was not clean when we arrived, however the owner was more than accommodating to give us a replacement unit to stay in. She went out of the way and called us to ensure we knew how everything worked and we were comfortable there.
The location of the unit has breathtaking views....we loved the place and will definitely recommend it to our friends.
We stayed at Top of the Pines for spring break. We were two families; 5 adults and 2 toddlers. The property was great. Everything worked and the house was kid friendly. There was a toddler bed, crib, glider and a tub full of toys. Our toddlers had a great time. Also, the location was great; badger pass and Yosemite valley are a short drive away. We were able to drive to Badger Pass snow tube for a while then come back to the property so the babies could take their nap then drive to Yosemite Valley for the afternoon. We had a wonderful time and definitely stay there again.
Top of the Pines offers a great place to stay while visiting the best National Park in the States. There are lots of ways to enjoy this park. Hiking, Sight Seeing, Picnicking by the river, relaxing on the deck or watching the climbers on El Captain. . The Water Falls are awesome to see.
