ATTENTION: For our guests arriving from 1. July 2019 Apartment BonBini will be enlarged to about 100 sqm with a large bedroom, 2 bathrooms and 2 verandas with seating and hammocks. The new apartment will also have a kitchen with fitted kitchen and seating and a separate living room with bed sofa. The bed sofa can be converted to a comfortable bed for 1-2 extra persons. Our "Tropenhuis Palmar" is located in one of the most beautiful and sought-after residential areas of Curacao, about 500 meters from the nearest beach, a high quality environment with many interesting tourist offers.
Our total of 300 sq m house on a 1000 sq m large plot is divided into our private residential area and the "Apartment Bon Bini" to the garden with separate entrance and a private completely mosquito-screened veranda.
The apartment offers a high quality of living, is individually decorated and has both ceiling fans and air conditioning in the bedroom, which is rarely needed due to the special Caribbean style of the house. The use of the air conditioner is paid by a small fee on the spot; the use of the fans is free. The apartment are equipped with 110V + 220V outlets.
Free Wi-Fi is available, and we recommend taking your notebook, tablet or smartphone with you, to be able to receive your usual television shows or news, if you want.
Our entire house is equipped with mosquito gauze, which so far no other house on Curacao offers, so you can sit comfortably on the porch, protected from pests!
Our Caribbean garden with palm trees, shady places and a large pool is available to our guests at all times. It is quite possible that you will be visited by hummingbirds or parrots...
The directions from the airport will be sent to you in good time before arrival; it is also available via the "mobile host".
Our district Vista Royal - Jan Thiel offers many tourist highlights and beside beach clubs also natural beaches. Only a few minutes walk away is Jan Thiel Beach, which has become an attractive hotspot in recent years. There are restaurants, boutiques, souvenir shops, a supermarket, car rentals, an ice cream parlor with homemade Italian ice cream and even a casino. In the evening you have the opportunity to enjoy beautiful sunsets, sometimes with live music, candlelight dinners or a drink by the sea. A highlight is every Saturday from 5 PM - 6 PM the "happy hour" in the ZanziBar with drinks for half price. See also
The small modern supermarket, "Van den Tweel / Albert Heijn" is within walking distance; the larger supermarket "Vreugdenhil" on the Caracasbaaiweg provides a free shuttle bus service once a day. Pick-up point is opposite the Morena resort about 3 minutes walk from us.
Also Village Marina with the "Pirates Nest" at the Spaanse Water and Caracasbaai-Beach with the restaurants "Golden Seahorse" and "Pop's Place", also within easy walking distance, are absolutely recommendable! Public buses to Wilhelmstad run regularly.
Divers guests have repeatedly told us that there are wonderful easy-to-reach dive sites in our area, such as the sunken TugBoat, and you do not necessarily have to head for the most beautiful spots in Curacao to Westpunt! You can also snorkel here near several easily accessible spots in order to discover the Caribbean underwater world!
At various providers you can book here diving, snorkeling or sunset trips with catamarans, sailing ships or motor yachts. Interesting is a sightseeing tour along the coast and through the Spaanse Water, where almost all circumnavigators stop with their sailing ships, and where magnificent villas can be seen from the water side. Or an exciting discovery trip through the extensive harbor area with the world-famous refinery, where oil is processed from Venezuela only 60 km away.
Particularly popular are the day trips by catamaran to the uninhabited island of Little Curacao with a hearty beach barbecue, or the multi-day trips with the historic sailing ship Insulinde, which has its anchorage near the swiveling Emma Bridge, next to the World Heritage Site, the famous Handelskade in Willemstad. From there at the entrance to the harbor you can watch closely large cruise ships, oil tankers, pilot ships, etc.
On a trip to the west of Curacao there are nature reserves, the Christoffelberg and other beautiful beaches and great bays to discover. Or you are planning to visit dolphins, sea lions, sharks and other marine life at the Sea Aquarium, which also offers swimming with dolphins. The Hemingways restaurant on Sea Aquarium Beach is also worth a visit, as is the adjacent Mambo beach. A rental car is recommended to discover the entire island, which can be obtained directly on arrival at the airport or at several car rental companies in the immediate vicinity of our house.
