About Beth

My wife and I have been married for 14 years and have a 6 year old daughter & 1 year old son. As you will see in the video of our vacation rental, we love to spend family time in the water and on the beach near the house. It is very family friendly! Great fishing, diving, kayaking and surfing for the grown ups, safe/shallow waters for kids and a sandy beach for tanning (4 houses down).

Beth purchased this house in 2009

Why Beth chose Honolulu

Honolulu Oceanfront is a prized possession and typically kept in the family for generations. If families decide to sell during economic good times, the price is seldom realistic. So during the current economic down turn, we saw our opportunity at a reasonable price and bought.

What makes this house unique

The Aloha spirit and the Hawaiian lifestyle are two of the greatest things found no where else in the world. Aloha is a spirit of friendship and love shared by the residents of Hawaii. It is a genuine affection towards one another and is what makes Hawaii a true melting pot where all nationalities coexist peacefully. The Hawaiian lifestyle is one that revolves around the Pacific ocean, which is right out the back door from this house. Whether you are surfing, fishing, diving, or going for a swim, getting into the ocean on a daily basis is what keeps the Hawaiian people young.

Fun Little Home

  • 3 of 5

I took my family of 12 in June. The house was a bit run down, but very reasonable for the money and location. Some of the windows wouldn’t shut which made me a little nervous when we left the house since we left valuables there. We had trouble opening the master bedroom door. And one of the A/C remotes didn’t work. But the A/C worked very well. There are 3 units (one in each bedroom), but they seemed to cool the whole place down very well. We never had problems with the temperature, and it was in the mid-80s during the day, which is a bit hot for Oahu. There were some water bugs in the kitchen a couple of times, but hey, they don’t eat much. But seriously, I think you’d find that just about anywhere in Hawaii (outside of a hotel). There’s not much storage for food outside of the refrigerator since the pantry is pretty full, so we used the counters. The washer and dryer as well as the kitchen electrical outlets are hard to find - good luck (it’s a scavenger hunt!). The cottage is awesome - very nice secluded area. The noise in all the rooms at night from the cars is a bit loud even with the windows shut but I think it actually helped me sleep. The showers seemed unable to maintain a constant temperature - scalding hot, then chillingly cold back and forth. The second bedroom has no storage for clothes (like a dresser), which made it a bit difficult to find things - the other 2 bedrooms do. 2 of the 4 couches have pull-out mattresses, and the host lent us a queen-size blow-up mattress.

There is ample parking, but it’s a little tricky to maneuver cars (just be careful). There are tons of pool/beach toys in a bin, including snorkel gear (gross - I recommend you bring your own or buy it when you get there) and flippers, boogie boards, balls, sand tools, etc. Being located directly on the shore/water seemed to not be as much of a necessity as we thought, but it was still nice. The shallow water (between 0-3 feet in 2 daily cycles) extends for probably a half-mile (I walked it and it took FOREVER).

As for the host (Beth), she seems very nice, but she is VERY non-responsive. She was very quick to respond in the beginning before we booked, but after that, for the 2 times I needed to contact her in the year before the trip began, it took her a week or two to respond. While we were there, she was much better, but then after we left, I had a heck of a time getting her to refund my money. That said, her non-responsiveness did not impact our trip

Beach front paradise on the water!

  • 4 of 5

A few of my friends and I can for a wedding. There was more than enough space for us and a separate cottage. Everyday we went out on the water in our backyard. You can't get a more better location. Only drawbacks was the air conditioning was a little week and they were only in the three bedrooms in the house, not in the living room/dining area/kitchen. Also the kitchen was a little outdated. Other than that it was a great plantation style beach front property.

Great stay!

  • 4 of 5

Our group of 10 really enjoyed our stay. Beth was great and made sure we were set up. The place was clean and roomy; it easily accommodated the 10 of us who stayed there! We enjoyed the recommendations for places to go and eat. We also loved the scuba gear and flippers. Very nice and great complimentary bathroom supplies. The dishwasher didn't seem to clean the dishes very well. It would be nice to know in advance that one of the queen size beds is a pull out in the living room. Otherwise, we loved it!

  • 5 of 5

We had an Amazing time everything was pretty close to the house we were a group of 10 and the accommodations were great for our group number we felt right at home the house and the beach view were Amazing although the furniture is a tad old, The owner (husband) was a very pleasant person and responded to my messages asap the other owner (the wife) on the other hand Never even bothered to reply to any of our text messages it didn't really bother us because the gentleman made sure we were well taken care of although I thought that was ride! But over all yes this is a great rental and a very peaceful place.

Affordable House for Large Group

  • 4 of 5

The owners were personable and understanding over the phone and by email. The location of the house was perfect. Short drive to Waikiki and shopping centers to get food and drinks. Our group was 11 people and the size of the house is great. My 2 year old son slept in a playpen they provided. We loved going into the water, my son loved walking around at low tide. At night, you can float and watch the stars you don't see when you are in the city.

There were some areas to fix or improve on. We were missing the rice cooker and a can opener. The backyard chairs were broken and wish we had a few more to lounge on. It would have been nice for better security. There is only a key pad lock for the main doors. Also, one of the A/C units did not work in one of the rooms.

This is a house that's on the older side, but the size is great for large groups and in a fantastic location. All for an affordable price! We had a great time in Oahu!

Beautiful View and Comfortable Home

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed your beautiful and most comfortable home! Wish we could've stayed longer. My nephew from Ewa Beach stayed with us and enjoyed as much as we did.

The ducks made their visit and We saw eels, crabs and teeny fishes right over the sea wall!

The property was just as described and the photos were accurate. It was clean and maintained. Just one suggestion, would have been nice for a rice cooker we had to make it old school. The pikakes were in bloom and the girls wore the flowers behind their ears everyday.

Close to my favorite Leanord's Bakery in Kaimuki (10 min away) for malasadas most mornings, Koko Head & Diamond Head trail for the young adults to climb, Makapu'u for hiking and China Wall to jump off! Even though it was too windy for us to kayak we did hang out in Lani Kai(15 min away). And a day in Haleiwa, in the North Shore (an hour drive) surfing and sup'ing. After a long day it was nice to come "home".

Good island comfort food: Helena's and Rainbow Drive-In, we like all their food!

Close to most everything without the crowd of Waikiki, you will need a car to get around.

We would absolutely recommend this property!
