Guestbook comments from the manager

Group of 10 fishermen - had great time and loved your house ! The lake was beautiful with 18" of ice. While the weather was unseasonably warm - at nearly 60 degrees, we fished all day and caught pike, crappie and blue gill. One of the nights we ate a wonderful prime rib dinner and were surprised to find (and touched) , what a nice gesture ! ) three bottles of wine which we found was the perfect compliment to dinner :~) thank you for sharing your house with us, we would recommend anybody stay here, and we hope to return some day. Thanks again.

Lots of hassle for an outdated property

  • 2 of 5

The process to rent this home was not renter-friendly. Whether it was being completely inundated with paperwork, the property management company's failure to communicate clearly or their complete misuse of the VRBO site, everything leading up to this trip made me extremely nervous to actually stay here.

I know other reviewers have pointed to the rules and instructions as a positive, but this property takes it to a level that makes it feel as though your security deposit is already spent. I encountered canceled payments on VRBO, late payment threats (management company error), and so many emails, contracts and rules that I had to create a folder in order to keep track of it all.

The lake is gorgeous and the pontoon is great (although fueling it is a pain). While there are conveniences with what the owners leave in the house in terms of dishes and cooking utensils, you are strictly instructed not to use their firewood and the trash cans provided don't meet the needs of a group of 14+.

The house itself is ok, plenty of space, but really could use an update. The doors are thin and cheap, so although you can shut the door to any room, you'll hear anything going on in the house (read: no sleeping in). Virtually nothing is provided, so plan to bring everything you think you'll need. The fire pit is really small, and you'll want to bring your own chairs as those provided aren't comfortable for long periods.

All-in-all, our trip was great because of the people we spent the weekend with and in-spite of the property. The owners and property managers are more concerned with protecting their asset than they are about guest experience - every chance they had to make a guests stay more convenient was marred by their approach. If you're looking for a getaway in Gladwin, we'd highly recommend the lake (and a boat), but would encourage you to look for owners/property managers that view their guest as more than a dollar sign.

Perfect location for a large family gathering!

  • 5 of 5

7 adults, 6 kids and we had plenty of space. The location by the public beach was perfect. The house was very clean and had everything you could ever need. The pontoon was a great addition. Tons of games, activities, toys, movies etc. The kitchen was fully stocked with pots/pans/appliances. We really enjoyed the lake, it was great for fishing and pretty quiet.

Really like the Sugar Springs Area

  • 4 of 5

Good week at Lakeside GetAway - the kitchen was well stocked and organized. Plenty of room for our family. My mom enjoyed reading on the top deck with the electric awning extended where she could enjoy the view of the lake. Three Sisters are very good with communicating with their customers on any questions. Thank You ! August 2017

July 4, 2017 at the Lakeside Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We had an awesome time at the Lakeside Getaway over the July 4 holiday. The Getaway is perfect for our group....clean facility, plenty of room, great location, thoughtful amenities, pontoon for rent, etc. We couldn't ask for much more!! You don't need to take much with you. The kitchen is as well stocked as any kitchen anywhere...including your own kitchen at home. If I had any issue at all, it would be with the policy of allowing only six people to be included with the rental rate. Each additional person is charged per night. For a facility that can hold 19, a limit of six is a bit steep. Ten would be a more reasonable number as there are five bedrooms....two per room. Just a thought. But, I wouldn't let that prevent me from renting the Getaway again. I have already rented it for next year....and, I can't wait!!!
