We enjoy just relaxing at the cabin, and getting away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Plus fishing the Elk River that flows near the cabin.
This cabin was the perfect mountain getaway! It was beautifully decorated, larger than we expected, and had that perfect country charm feeling. Of course the modern conveniences were well appreciated too like the hot tub, washer and dryer, and more than 1 bathroom! I hope to go back again.
We had a great weekend in the mountains. The cabin was beautiful and we will definitely be back to stay again. The only issue we had was that half the bottom of the charcoal grill was burnt out. We compromised and made it work but you may need to replace for your next guest. Thanks for a wonderful getaway!!!
We always love staying at the Elk River Retreat! It's by far the nicest place in the area and the accommodations never fail to impress us. We got married there last year and now go back yearly for our anniversary, we wouldn't go anywhere else. We really can't say enough good things about this cabin!! Becky is great to deal with
I cannot begin to say how GREAT our stay was at Elk River Retreat. First of all, Becky was wonderful to work with reserving the cabin. Ashley and (I believe) her husband got the stove ready for us upon arrival, so we arrived to a warm cabin, which was great after a cold day riding to Pickens for the Maple Syrup Festival. The cabin was very clean, quiet, and comfortable. The hot tub was also wonderful. There were plenty of pots, pans, utensils, etc. The open living room and kitchen were great for entertaining. We wished the weather was a little warmer to enjoy the outdoor fire pit, enclosed back porch, and front porch. Location is great; out in the middle of no where, right across the street from the Elk River, and close to some ATV trails. The locals we met were extremely friendly. We loved this place so much we want to book it again this summer but it looks like it's completely booked up, which is no surprise considering how great this place is. Thanks again Becky and Ashley! Keep up the great work!!!
The pictures don't give this cabin justice. It a very beautiful cabin. I was skeptical at first until we pulled in the driveway. It is extremely roomy and comforting. Everything you would expect and more from a cabin in the woods. The wood stove heated the entire cabin and gave it this homey feeling. All of my friends talked about doing another trip up during the summer to fish and hike. The price was the best around the area. No cell phone reception was actually quite nice. The directions were on point. I suggest following them precisely. We all had an absolute blast and the outdoor hot tub was the cherry on top. Definitely will be staying here again
This is a beautiful, spacious cabin right on Elk River. It is very remote and the road is a bit rough so be aware if there is bad weather. It isn't as isolated as one might expect, there being two other houses within sight of the cabin (and you can see them from the cabin) but I didn't find this distracting. The cabin doesn't hold heat well but firewood, coal, and a wood-burning stove is provided. The hot tub is in great shape but it is in a covered porch area so don't expect views or the night sky. Very comfortable bed as well. The master bedroom is huge with an ensuite bathroom to boot.
