This 3 bedroom, 2 bath ocean front cottage is located at the South end of Spruce Point, just beyond the Famous Spruce Point Inn. Our guests may use all the amenities of the Spruce Point Inn. We are private and only a skip to the Inns Property. 1.6 walking miles distance to the Harbor footbridge and Harbor activities. With the cottage sea wall and a 70ft. pier, the cottge affords due South exposure with views of the open ocean and Islands. Built of native cedar and pine, including all pine interior, custom vaulted ceilings, fieldstone fireplace, open granite kitchen, dining and living room to the raised waterfront deck.
With interior views of crashing waves, one may get the sense of being on a large yacht. Tucked under spruce trees with lobster boats working and the distant sound of an occasional fog horn, (3 lighthouses in area) one feels the charm of this Down Maine cottage. This cottage is all the above and more.
WE moved from New Hampshire in 1987. Settled on the East Side of Barters Island in the Village of Trevett, which is part of the Boothbay area. Our house built in 1800, is also available for rent: 4bedroom, 2bath, tidal waterfront with a dock. Dick is a builder and built this beautiful cottage and I am a retired Real Estate Appraiser. Our two children live in the New York area: Brooklyn and Cat Skills.
Brenda Wood purchased this cottage in 2009
We were blessed to buy the Spruce Point property in 1989, which was a redwood log seasonal cottage. We loved it, but it was built in 1940s and was only seasonal and too much to renovate to a year-round home. We tore it down piece by piece to preserve the redwood. Then built an all wood year-round home with municipal sewer and town water, installed a gas hot water furnace. Then added a pier and recently a new aluminum runway and float.
Our relationship with the Spruce Point Inn, affords our guests to use their amenities/facilities, which is a great pleasure to us and our guests. We are waterfront and private with just a skip to the Inns property.
Short distance to the Harbor activities, approximately 1.6 walking distance along the shoreline to the Harbor footbridge, restaurants, catholic church, Barretts Park, walking trails, retail fresh fish sales, which will also steam lobsters for you.
My family stayed at the Wood Cottage with another family in July. It was absolutely perfect. 4 adults and 4 kids and plenty of room for all. The location provided the ideal combination of "peace and relaxation" and fun and activities. The connection with Spruce Point is ideal, allowing for kids (teens, near teens) to roam around and use the facilities (pools, fishing, kayaks and paddleboards, smores table, rec room, etc). The house offered all the necessary equipment. Beautiful spot right on the rocky coast - no better place for a morning cup of coffee or a late day libation. Highly recommended, and Brenda was a pleasure to work with.
This was our third wonderful year at Wood Cottage. Plenty of room for our kids and two grandkids. Beautiful location and access to the facilities at the Spruce Point Inn. Used the pool and playgrounds. The owners are lovely and always helpful when needed. See you next year same time! The Morrisons
This place is beautiful! It has amazing view of the ocean; I sat on the deck almost the whole time. It's very close to downtown. It's so close to the Spruce Point Inn and we were able to use the kayaks, hot tubs and pools without any additional cost to us. The photos don't do it justice. We can't wait to visit again!
