Why Diane Rust chose Northern Wisconsin

This farm has been in my family since 1891 when my grandparents purchased the land from the Knapp-Stout Lumber Company. They cleared the land, built the farm, raised their family, and it has been the center of family activity since those days. In 2008 my husband and I completely renovated the house, inside and out, and it has since continued to provide the perfect gathering place for family and friends. We now would like to share this special place with you with the hope that you will enjoy your time in this special place as much as our family.

Wonderful experience in July 2016

  • 5 of 5

We stayed July 2016 and had a fantastic experience! We were here for a nieces wedding. The property way immaculate and very spacious. The yard was fantastic for kids- thanks for all the yard games and toys and especially pogo stick. I recommend this property for anyone seeking the quiet of country living. Also loved Cameron and Louie's Finer Meats!

Wonderfully relaxing family gathering space

  • 5 of 5

We rented the Farmhouse Retreat as a place to gather with our adult children and grandkids during a family reunion being held in Cumberland. We were welcomed very graciously by Diane & Richard at arrival. It was great to learn a little the history of the home that we would be enjoying for the next few days. With both of us being raised on dairy farms it felt just like coming home for us here. The home had everything we needed to enjoy our weekend with our family. Thank you for opening up your beautiful home to us and we would definitely recommend your rental to anyone who is looking for a peaceful and relaxing getaway.

A Great Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Diane & Richard were both so welcoming and their farmhouse is really a wonderful place to stay. We came into town to spend time with family and the house, the beautiful setting, trees, and outdoor games were a delightful surprise. I would highly recommend trying this place out, I know that we will be back in the future and will be telling people all about it! :)

Relaxing Weekend Getaway

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at the Farmhouse Retreat during our weekend stay for the Spooner Rodeo.

We have stayed at several VRBO rentals before and we both agreed that we have been most impressed with the Farmhouse Retreat! Diane and Richard met us at the house upon arrival. This is the FIRST time anyone has ever actually met us at the property. We found this very welcoming and also gave us a little more sense of comfort as they showed us where everything was, instructions, and recommendations for eating out,etc even though all this information was typed out in a binder! They are extremely genuine and friendly. We loved how much family history was in the house and can feel how much they value family.

As many others have written on their reviews, pictures do NOT do justice to the farmhouse! It is VERY clean and tastefully decorated. There is just about EVERYTHING you can think of in the kitchen (even things we do not have at our own house!) plenty of towels in the bathroom, linens are provided, comfortable beds, blankets, you name it, its there. This gave us that "at home" feel. We loved eating our meals out on the patio/picnic table and just sitting outside to watch the birds/enjoy the peace and quiet. We HIGHLY recommend the Farmhouse Retreat. You will not find a gem like this, for the price anywhere else.

Thank you, Diane & Richard, for sharing your farmhouse for our Spooner Rodeo weekend! We will be back!

Perfect family weekend

  • 5 of 5

Our family spent the weekend here and this place is absolutely wonderful. Diane and Richard were so accommodating and kind. They were truly a pleasure to work with. The farmhouse is beautiful, clean and in really great condition. The four bedrooms have comfortable beds with private space for each of the four couples and room for a pack n' play in each one. This house has everything you might need for a weekend away. We loved the porch and the yard. Horseshoes, fire-pit and plenty of space to be outside made this a great spot.
