We moved to the Truckee-Tahoe area and fell in love with the scenic & rural qualities of the community of Hirschdale located just below the residential district of Glenshire. We reside next door to this rental and maintain the home and winter access. We have lived in the community of Hirschdale for many years. We pride ourselves in providing our guests with a welcoming and satisfying stay. We are an active retired couple who enjoy the mountains, camping, fishing and all things outdoors.
The Owner purchased this house in 1984
We have always desired to live by the Truckee River. The community here is small, rural, and quiet. We enjoy offering a vacation home here so others can enjoy the beauty of the Truckee River. You are close to historic Town of Truckee, all shopping & restaurants, ski resorts & golf courses, lakes & streams, and the many visitor attractions of the Tahoe-Truckee area yet feels worlds away from the crowds.
If you love the outdoors, this location is ideal. The river offers you year-round premium fly fishing, floating & kayaking, hiking & exploring, while nearby streams, lakes & reservoirs offer additional fishing opportunity, boating, watersports, hiking & biking. The scenic views are remarkable offering year-round pleasure as well as quiet solitude. Beautiful sunrises, clear starry nights & exceptional full moons will take your breath away. You can relax, unwind, and enjoy yourself here!
I rented this house for my family and friends over the Christmas holiday and it was so pleasant and relaxing. Everything was as expected or even better and the property was well taken care of. The view from the back porch was nothing less than epic and the kitchen had all of the essentials for us to cook a large family style dinner. We skied 2 days at Northstar and it was only a 20 minute drive to the free parking lot, and I was at the top of the mountain only 1 hour from leaving the house. Diane and Duane were also close by if we needed anything and made themselves available to answer any questions. I highly recommend this rental and would definitely come back and stay again.
Cleansing! While sitting on the wrap around porch listening to the Truckee River flow you take in the view, and it is breathtaking. We came in November so the fall colors were still hanging around and a little snowfall came to make the picture even more perfect. It got down to 17 one night but we were always toasty(loved the wood stove). The inside was welcoming with large bedrooms, comfortable beds, antiques, and vintage furniture. I especially liked the Garden room with a Donkey Tail plant that hung from the ceiling to the floor! A great Escape! Just 30 minutes to my family in Reno.
Diane and Duane's house is the perfect place for a weekend getaway! We enjoyed the decks, lawn, views, fishing, bbq, and rafters and kayakers in our own back yard. The weather was great, mid 70s, the house is perfectly appointed with everything you need in the kitchen and plenty of games, movies and books to entertain everyone. Our 8-year old especially liked the puzzles and playing horse shoes and taking a scenic trail ride at the nearby stables 10 minutes down the road. Hope come back in the winter. Thanks again Diane and Duane!
This home is wonderful! Situated on a quiet street with views of the Truckee River, you can sit on the spacious deck and watch people white river rafting. The home itself was very nice and spacious. At night you hear the river going by as well as a train in the distance. If you're looking for a great place for you and your family to enjoy the Tahoe area, this home is the perfect getaway.
My wife and I stayed with our (adult) children and friends at Diane and Duane's property. The house is lovely and occupies a commanding view of a bow in the Truckee river where fly fishermen appeared daily. We especially appreciated the spacious deck, where we had breakfast and dinner daily. The house was extremely comfortable and well equipped. The kitchen had a complete set of cooking utensils and staples, as well as DW detergent, etc. The owners live next door and are happy to provide assistance as needed (beach towels in our case), but understand your desire for privacy. Since it is close to I-80 we had easy access to Truckee, Donner Lake, and Lake Tahoe, all of which we took advantage of. We'd love to stay there again.
Our family has stayed in this beautiful house multiple times now. It is our number #1 favorite vacation home in Truckee. The views are beautiful, the area serene and yet it is close enough to activities/shopping/dining to be just the relaxing getaway we look forward to each year.
I highly recommend for families, couples or a group of friends. We are already looking forward to our return next year!
