Shangri- La - 15 Minutes from Breckenridge /Hot Tub/ Game Room /Views!

Bedrooms 3
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 5 nights

About the property

Full Log Home with 3 Bedrooms and 3 Baths Plus Rec Room with Queen Futon. Fabulous Mountain Views and Wooded Lot - Just 15 minutes from Breckenridge.

Shangri-La Mountain Lodge is a breath-taking custom log home that is over 3100 square feet. The home is only 12 miles from Colorado's world-class Breckenridge ski resort. Copper Mountain, Keystone, and A-Basin are also less than 30 minutes away. Access to the main highway (Highway 9) is less than 5 minutes so there are no long drive on dirt roads to get to all of the fun activities in the area. Built with full-sized premium logs, this is a classic, like you see in the log home magazines. The vaulted ceiling is 24' high and is made from tongue and groove pine. The two-story windows offer the best views of the snow-covered mountain ranges and valleys. The custom hickory wood floors and cabinetry are throughout the main level of the house. There are two large seating areas in the living room with a two-story stone fireplace to sit by and watch the beautiful snow fall. The custom kitchen has state of the art stainless steel appliances, hickory cabinets and it's own fireplace! The view from the window will make cooking a delight. The dining area has a large table that seats 8-10 people.

There is a bedroom on the main level with a queen-size bed and it's own private bath. There are double French doors that open onto the main deck and covered balcony which offers views of the mountain ranges and Placer Valley. The bathroom has it's own shower and also a washer and dryer. There is a study outside of this bedroom with another set of French doors opening onto the main deck as well.

Upstairs there are two bedrooms. The spacious Master Suite has it's own gas stove, panoramic views from every window, a private balcony, and a spacious master bath with a large jetted tub. The luxurious king bed has windows behind it with panoramc views of the mountains.

The third bedroom also has gorgeous views and a queen-size bed. The custom linens and furniture make it a lovely place for another couple or your children to stay.

The downstairs area is very unique. There is a very large recreation room with a full-size custom wood bar. The kids (and adults) will enjoy the ping-pong table with it's own "score-keeping" net. There is a dart board and another bath in the recreation room as well. The gas stove in the corner adds to the cozy atmosphere. There is no shortage of views in this room either. Another set of double doors leads out to the lower patio where there is a full size porch with it's own custom ski-lift swings. You will feel like you just came down the mountain from skiing. Be sure to relax in the theraputic hot tub after your day of skiing or hiking.

Wireless Internet and Satellite TV is provided. Cell service at the home is good.

The lucky renters that stay here will appreciate the heated two-car garage that they can drive right into to escape any snow blizzards that might happen by. The roads are county maintained all winter and the driveway is maintained after each snowfall. Four-wheel drive is a must for this area though as we do get some heavy snowfalls.

You will be surrounded by outdoor and indoor activities. Whether your passion is skiing, shopping, hunting, ice-fishing, or horseback riding, you will find the best of the best within minutes of the home. There are two lakes within 5-10 minutes of the home as well as old mines, hiking trails, snowshoeing, and 4-wheel trails. Thre is even a trail along a waterfall called Lincoln Falls to explore. Some of the activities near the home are skiing, hiking, Ice climbing, fishing at Montgomery Reservoir (within walking distance), horseback riding, ATVing, white-water rafting and much more.

About Susan Bigham

We love this area for its convenient accessibility to Breckenridge. We enjoy the beautiful (but short) 15 minute drive to Breckenridge. The home is located just a minute or two from Highway 9 so it is a shorter drive to the resort than many of the areas classified as right in town. We can hike or snow-shoe right from our front door. Montgomery Reservoir and Lincoln Falls are a short 1- mile hike. In the summer and fall you can walk down to the Lake and catch trout for dinner or even breakfast. The lake is stocked each year so the fishing is great. If you are into 4-wheeling, this area is the best. You can enter the trails from the Montgomery Reservoir area or Hoosier Pass. We just love the location and quick access to everything we love to do.

Why Susan Bigham chose World

LOCATION VIEWS AND ACTIVITIES make this the best area of Colorado that we have every come across.

What makes this cabin unique

We are within 15 minutes of Breckenridge with very quick access to the highway so no long dusty roads. It is a very quite area on a cul-de-sac so there is no road noise or distractions - only beautiful mountain view and peace and quit. We love the access to Montgomery Reservoir and Kite Lake as we love to hike, snow-shoe, and climb the Fourteeners in the area. You will love the area - we certainly do!

Great house in a great location. The view from the balcony is breathtaking (speaking as someone who doesn't live near any mountains). We would go out there just to look at it. The location was convenient for trips into Breckenridge. There was plenty of room to stretch out and the hot tub was great for relaxing. If we're ever back in the area, we'll be staying here.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the kind words. Being that we are in the heart of the Rocky Mountains it is great to be reminded of the privilege of having this awesome view every day. I hope you took plenty of pictures, Montgomery Reservoir and the surrounding mountains makes my heart sing when I gaze upon it. One of the many reasons I moved to this great state and live in Park County. Please come back and stay with us again.

Wonderful place to stay! Great location!

  • 5 of 5

We had 8 adults and 2 children on our trip and the home had more than enough space for us. The drive to and the house itself have incredible views of Mt. Lincoln. You never know what to expect from a rental home but this place was better than we ever imagined. Everything was clean when we arrived, the kitchen had everything we needed for our stay, the beds were comfortable, and it was really nice having 3 full bathrooms for our family. A Previous post stated that the Ping Pong table was broken but we had no trouble with that. The hot tub was awesome, especially after hiking all day. There are tons of fun hikes within a few minutes drive of the house. We usually don't like staying at the same place more than once, but we might have to make this home an annual visit.

Good but not Great.

  • 3 of 5

The cabin itself is very well built with traditional Log architecture. The layout however is very awkward and not very functional at all. The entrance is in the basement and there is a flight of stairs to get to the main level. The cabin is not set up for older people because of the amount of stairs. There is only one bedroom on the main level and the only bathroom on the main level is in the bedroom. The upstairs has two bedrooms and only one bathroom. There is a master bedroom with a bathroom but it has no door for the shower sink area just the toilet. There is no closet upstairs in either bedroom that you can hang your clothes in just shelves. The second bedroom on the upstairs has no bathroom or closets and is very small. There is a bathroom in the basement/entry level. The ping pong table shown in the pictures is trashed and is not usable. The dartboard is great but the darts are all broken and unusable. The fire pit is all beat up but useable.

The positives…..The hot tub was nice and is in great condition. The view from the deck is amazing and the cabin is very secluded and private. We saw lots of wildlife including fox, chipmunks and mule deer. The trout fishing and hiking at Montgomery reservoir is amazing and is only about 3 minutes away from the cabin. We also saw mountain goats down at the reservoir multiple mornings and evenings. The cabin is located about 15 minutes south of Breckinridge and is about 15 minutes north of fair play.

It's everything and more!!!!

We highly enjoyed our stay at the cabin. The trails were convenient and breathe taking. Service was outstanding. I can not say enough about how helpful and pleasant the management service was before, during, and after our stay. I especially loved the welcome cookies. After our long drive, they really hit the spot. It’s too bad our teenage boys got to them first. We would definitely recommend this cabin and the management service. We hope to be back soon.
