Wildflower is a wonderful contemporary beachfront home located on Cape Cod bay in Truro that has being totally renovated this fall. You are part of a private community of 25 homes. There is one private tennis court located a dune away that is shared by the community. Wildflower has 120 feet of private sandy beachfront. Sitting in the house or on the deck, you view Provincetown, Cape Cod Bay and magnificent sunsets. (One of the few places on the East Coast where the sun sets into the ocean.) Be it boating, sunning, or taking the kids to the beach, it is all just a few steps down your dune. We rent very quickly so do it now.
There are 5 bedrooms sleeping a total of 10, 3 bathrooms and one large main room that faces the bay. Provincetown is 20 minutes away with its many restaurants and activities. Horseback riding, bicycling, boating, swimming, tennis, hiking are just some of the activities available.
The property has 5 bedrooms. On one level are three bedrooms, the master with a queen bed, one bedroom with a double and one bedroom with two twin beds. On another level are two bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with two twins. The master has its own bath and there are two other bathrooms servicing the other bedrooms.
The kitchen, living and dining room are combined and sit in the center of the house facing the water.
The house sits on a dune about 50 feet above the ocean
Ah, the setting sun, a gin and tonic, a few Wellfleet oysters, striped bass on the grill.
I bought this property in 1982. Sitting on the sand dune with the warm sun glistening off the bay, sailboats tacking back and forth and seals swimming around the rock in front of the property I could not resist.
To this day not much has changed. A few more homes and that is about it,
The serenity I experienced in 1982 is still there
Spend a week or a month at the house and you will fall in love with Truro. 120 feet of private beach that continues on for miles. On a busy day there may be 20 people for as far as you can see.
Read a book, do a puzzle, drink a glass of wine and listen to the ocean and seagulls.
Wander into Wellfleet for dinner or go to P'town to see the sights.
Slide the door to your bedroom open and fall asleep to the sound of waves hitting the beach
Enjoy the view and your private beach. The bay has been warm and inviting for all ages. We had 6 adults and 3 teenagers. We most enjoyed hanging out together and cooking with three generations. The kitchen is easy to work in and well stocked. The master is set away from the two bedrooms so that our three families each had our own part of the house with a separate bathroom. While the height of the dunes on which the house sits affords a beautiful view, it's a long set of stairs to the beach. Super quiet and remote. The house is clean and relatively new. Get your groceries off Cape if possible before you arrive. The closest market is the Wellfleet Market. There are lots of fans, no AC. The owner was kind enough to let us bring our super quiet and well behaved Lab. I would recommend this home to a family that is happy to settle in and doesn't require a lot of fancy amenities. We enjoyed Winslow Tavern in Wellfleet, the White Cedar Swamp walk at Marconi, the Sick Day surf school at White Crest Beach.
The home is located in South Truro on the bay side. it faces west and thus you have a view of sunsets over the bay. approximately 5 miles to the south through country roads that weave through the National Seashore Park is the small village of Wellfleet. 11 miles to the north is the very active old whaling town of Provincetown with its narrow streets and numerous little shops. Truro is a very small town with a fish market, little grocery / bakery and a few restaurants. The bulk of Truro is made up of the undeveloped National Seashore Park. Miles and miles of beaches and sand dunes.
Most spend the days sunning, swimming and relaxing. The restaurants and galleries of Wellfleet along with the restaurants and activity of Provincetown make great evening entertainment.
If you have never been to Cape Cod, it is a peninsular jutting 25 miles out into the Atlantic Ocean. Historic Boston is about 2 hours driving time.
