Guestbook comments from the owner

Cant wait to come back. Skied all week long. Nice and relaxing. Loved the chilled beer glasses in the freezer when we arrived. Would tell everyone to stay.

Warm and Inviting

  • 4 of 5

The condo was a great location for our girls weekend ski/snowboard trip. Easy to walk around Government Camp and easy to get too. The condo was relaxing and easy for all 5 of us to stay in and we truly had a great time! The owner of the rental made renting the condo very easy. I would rent from the owner in the future and recommend the condo to friends. Thank you for a great space!!

Too noisy for our comfort

  • 2 of 5

Condo is right off Hwy 26, so there's a LOT of road noise. We ended up moving from the King master suite and shutting the door to sleep in the Queen bedroom facing the parking lot to find quiet. Walls between units are not well insulated, so you can hear your neighbors and housekeeping on each side, tromping up and down the stairs. It was not a peaceful stay. Night time is party time at the community pool/hot tub. It's just a loud place, overall.

It would have been a tight fit to get our F-150 truck into the tandem garage, so we parked in the parking spaces. Some of the spaces are used for bulldozed snow, so parking is limited. We had to drive around the complex to find parking.

The resort is NOT conducive for dogs during the winter. We talked with other dog owner who also complained about not having good areas to walk their dogs. You basically have to walk around the parking lot and along the roads in Government Camp.

Kitchen has just the basics. Bring your own cheese grater.

Unit was clean.

Garage had piles of dirt. My husband had to sweep the dirt away from the door so we didn't get our shoes and travel bins dirty.

One of two lights in the living room was burned out and no spare bulb. No lamp to supplement lighting for reading or knitting.

Linens and towels are dried using perfumed dryer sheets, so if you are scent sensitive, this is not a good unit. We aired out the upstairs to try to get rid of the smell. Linens on the King bed were still damp when we checked in, so we had to strip the bed and dry the sheets and ended up not staying in that bedroom after the first night.

We'll stay elsewhere next time.

Perfect for Two Families

  • 5 of 5

We really loved staying at this condo. Bonus: ping pong table in garage, both rooms are masters, close to the pool, kitchen had everything, nice deck, very clean. We had two families staying here and it was perfect. The only thing I would request is have two lamps next to the couch. Also the deck needs a new light bulb. But overall this was the perfect condo to home back to after a day of skiing! We would stay here again.

Great place to stay in the summer!

  • 5 of 5

Both my husband and I needed to get away for a long weekend. This VRBO hit the spot! It was so nice and cozy. I have seen some reviews that the place was dirty and not very comfortable. This was NOT the case at all! We absolutely loved it! Government Camp was a neat place to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle. We will definitely stay here again! The swimming pool was great and so was the hot tub.

Great time at Gov't Camp

  • 4 of 5

We had a great time in Gov't Camp visiting Mt Hood and white water rafting down the Deschutes River.

This condo worked perfectly for our family (2 adults, 2 kids and a dog). Communication with the Owner was easy and he responded quickly to my questions. The community pool and hot tub are very close to the condo. We ended up there after getting back from our day trips. One time we were the only people there and the kids loved the heated pool while we enjoyed watching them from the hot tub. As an earlier review mentioned, the carpet has some stains, but overall I felt the house was very clean (cleaner than many other rentals I've staying in). It does back to Hwy 26, so we had some traffic noise the first night, but after turning on the fan provided in the bedroom, I didn't hear anything and slept well. Great vacation!

Areas of Concern

  • 2 of 5

Beautiful location and close to all recreational activities. Concerns were the poor overall cleanliness of the condo, unclean kitchen, pans and dishes and basic supplies. Carpet was heavily stained throughout, couch needed cleaning as well. Cleaning service forgot to provide TP...a problem with five people. She came the second day but we had to do an emergency run right after we arrived. Kitchen pans were greasy or had food remnants. Kitchen drawers had crumbs etc. Owner was responsive when front door knob fell off.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your feedback, but in our communication during your stay regarding wifi, parking etc you indicated that the place was perfect. So I'm not sure what changed since staying with us, but we'll continue to insure our cleaning staff is doing everything they can to make sure the Chalet is spotless for our guests arrival. Thank you!
