Our French Riviera holiday apartment, ‘La Belle Époque’ is situated in the Old Town of Villefranche-sur-Mer, between Nice and Monaco. The outstanding features of this apartment are a large terrace with a superb view of the Bay of Villefranche and an excellent location close to the sandy beach, restaurants, shops and bus services. The ambiance of this pretty holiday home, is bright and elegant, created by high ceilings, the 'Belle Époque’ decor and the panoramic view of the Bay through the beautiful French windows which open onto the private terrace which is not over-looked. The lounge is comfortably furnished with early twentieth century furniture and incorporates new kitchen fittings. The bedroom, with a modern double bed and period wardrobe also enjoys a bedside view of the Bay through French windows opening onto the terrace. The tiled bathroom has a bath with rain shower and a well-lit vanity unit and towel heater. The apartment comes with dual air conditioning, free WiFi, TV & gas BBQ. It is an ideal base for a relaxing holiday, dining 'al-fresco' or just sipping a ' vin rosé ' observing the ever changing bay. Guests comment on the excellent location, being close to the beach, shops, restaurants, ATM booths and public transport. It is a 10 minute ride to Nice or Monaco (bus every 15 minutes) and there are wonderful seaside walks at your doorstep. The apartment is one of five in a small three story development.
* LIVING AREA & TERRACE* The attractive lounge is bright and airy with high ceilings and opens onto the terrace through full length traditional french windows. It is comfortably furnished with a three seater sofa-bed, an arm chair, a circular dining table and dining chairs for two. The south east facing terrace which catches the sun until about 1.30pm, is furnished with two wicker chairs and a table suitable for al-fresco dining. Also included is a very popular Weber gas BBQ (gas supplied) and a retractable sunshade.
* KITCHEN* It is an all electric kitchen with modern appliances including dish-washer, washing machine and microwave. The cooker includes a ceramic 4 ring hob, oven with grill and a single level dish-washer. There is a comprehensive selection of cooking utensils and a double set of table settings.
*HAIR DRYER * is supplied.

We are a retired couple living in Ireland. We love holidaying in France especially the south of France for its ambiance, food and the outdoor activities especially the walking trails, 'les randones'.

We were wowed by the ' Provencal ' village atmosphere the first time we visited Villefranche in 2005 and were fortunate to find this apartment with a large terrace and fabulous views overlooking the Bay of Villefranche, located in the Old Town close to facilities and public transport. Untouched since the 1920's we have managed to retain the Provencal features while modernising the kitchen and bathroom facilities and furnishing it with ' turn of the century ' furniture.
Villefranche-sur-Mer is a great location on the Cote d'Azur, close to Nice and Monaco with warmer and brighter winters than the south of Italy. It is has excellent public transport, a wonderful sandy beach, renowned restaurants which remain open all year and a good selection of food outlets and a weekly market.
This is a lovely apartment right on the edge of the old town of Villefranche with a wonderful view of Cap Ferrat and the bay from the balcony. The balcony is perfect for sitting out and relaxing in the warm Mediterranean evenings. We spent a fabulous week there, with easy access to public transportation for day trips to surrounding towns such as Nice and Monaco. We took a wonderful day trip by train to Saorge, a perched village in the mountains.
Everything you need such as bakeries, supermarkets, and restaurants are within a short walk from the apartment. The kitchen is well stocked with everything needed for cooking so we had a nice mix of eating in and exploring the local restaurants.
The bathroom is bright and airy, and having a washing machine was great. The floor tiling echoes the wonderful colors of Provence and is very nicely accented by the furnishings. The welcoming fresh flowers were a lovely touch.
We would definitely book this apartment again and continue to work on our French.
A lovely apartment, equipped with everything you need. Great spot in Villefranche, within easy reach of shops, bars, restaurants and the beach. With the view over the old town from the terrace, it is the perfect spot to relax, slurp & BBQ. If you want to chill or explore, it is great base.

We stayed in the apartment for 2 weeks and it was great, need to be fit enough to walk up a few steps. the location is excellent. Villefranche is the perfect size village to enjoy the Riviera without all the hustle and bustle of the peak period tourist crush.

A great apartment above the port of Villefranche sur Mer. The patio has great views out to the sea and we enjoyed the well appointed apartment with its air con and close access to restaurants, boulangerie and boucherie.
We had a car on this trip and parking is an issue. However, we were informed of a 15 Euro weekly pass for nearby parking lots which resolved any issues with parking.
We would definitely visit Villefranche and La Belle Epoque again.
We had a wonderful week staying at this lovely apartment in Ville Franche! All of the gushing reviews are spot on! We spent hours on the balcony watching the sailboats, yachts, cruise ships, and even a U.S. military ship come and go. We parked our car on the street for the entire week and either walked or took the bus everywhere. We took the bus to Monte Carlo, Ese, and Nice. Walked the entire 7 kilometer perimeter of Cap Ferrat on a lovely promenade along the water with views of Nice, Monte Carlo, and northern Italy. The Rothschild villa, gardens, and view were fantastic! Sue met us when we arrived and was extremely knowledgeable and helpful with directions and suggestions about restaurants and places to go. The apartment is conveniently located and has everything you need--kitchen, washing machine, towels, etc.
Belle Epoque is lovely - just as pictured. Loved the morning sun, the wonderful view, the clean and comfortable apartment. Sue had arranged for a car to pick us up at the airport, and was there to meet us when we arrived. My friends had the apartment next door, which worked well. The apartment is convenient to transportation, restaurants, and the markets. Villefranche is charming, as are the neighboring towns - Beaulieu, Cap Ferrat, etc. Enjoyed hiking Cap Ferrat, visits to Eze and Saint-Paul-de-Vence, a day in Old Nice. Loved the markets - local produce one day, "broquante" on the weekend. It was a wonderful stay and I'm already dreaming of when I can return.
Whether you rent a car or are using public transportation, Villefranche is the perfect base for exploring this area, and this apartment is the perfect base in Villefranche. It is perfectly sized for two people, clean and well-equipped, and just as lovely as it looks on the website (as is the view from the terrasse over the Rade de Villefranche and Cap Ferrat). On most days, we were able to find on-street parking, but we visited in February, and parking may be more difficult in busier seasons (but there are two car parks within shouting distance of the apartment). It's an easy stroll down through the old town to the harbor, and a somewhat less easy (but absolutely doable) climb back up (but then everything is Villefranche is uphill from the harbor). There are two small supermarkets, as well as two boulangeries, within easy walking distance, and many local markets for stocking up on cheese, produce, etc. You will need to supply your own soap and toiletries, but no visit to Villefranche is complete without a stop at the savonnerie in town. The security deposit was refunded promptly, and both Eamon and Sue (the property manager who met us at the apartment) were very helpful.
Some favorites: L'Oursin Bleu restaurant in Villefranche, the Villa Ephrussi-Rothschild gardens on Cap Ferrat, Les Lavandes restaurant in Vence, the Fondation Maeght in St. Paul-de-Vence, Eze Village and its gardens, La Taille de Guepe restauranbt in Antibes, and, well, I could go on for some time, as I have long loved this part of the world.
Located on the exclusive French Cote d'Azur, Villefranche-sur-Mer is ideally located 10 minutes east of Nice, 10 minutes from Monaco / Monte-Carlo and 30 minutes from Nice-Cote d'Azur Airport. It is served by the Nice / Menton bus every 15 minutes and the Cote d’Azur rail line, trains every 25 minutes. It enjoys a wonderful south-facing sandy beach, stretching 1km along the Promenade. The beach has a coast guard service during the peak holiday season. The village is noted for the number and quality of its restaurants. Villefranche Bay is popular for scuba diving and snorkelling and other water sports. There are many scenic coastal walks for all levels of walkers and the adjoining mountains have many way marked routes for the more adventurous.
Popular day trips include Monaco for its Casino and F1 Grand Prix at the end of May, Nice for the Old Town, Promenade des Anglais, shopping and art galleries, Cannes for the glitz, Paul de Vence for art, Ventimiglia for its market, and the old hilltop village of Eze with its maze of winding alleys and quaint stone houses.
Centrally located, the apartment is a 5 minute walk from restaurants, shops, including bakeries, supermarkets, greengrocers, pharmacies, ATM, bus-stop, car parks and 10 minutes to the beach, train station or l'Institute de Francais
Beaches:- Villefranche has a 1 km long south facing sandy beach Plage des Marinieres, which is ideal for swimming (life guards in Summer) sunbathing or just building sand castles. Parallel with the beach is the promenade which is very popular with walkers all year long. There is a second east facing beach, Plage de la Darse, which is fine shingle and more relaxed.
Snorkelling:- The bay is noted for snorkelling and scuba diving. Gear may be hired locally.
Sailing / Boating:- There are a number of hire companies which hire boats or do trips around the bay and along the coast.
Walking;- There are wonderful coastal and hill walks. The coastal walk around Cap Ferrat is a must as is a visit to Villa Rothschild and Gardens. For the more adventurous there are a large selection of hill walks in the foothills of the Alp Maratime affording magnificent views of the coastline from Menton to Cannes and passing through many 'villages perches'. Ballet, opera and classical concerts are held during the winter months in Nice, Monaco and Cannes. Many of the concerts are performed on Sunday afternoons.
Golf is available at the Monaco Golf Club, La Turbie, 10 Km by car.
