Pigeon Forge Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

Bear Cub is a cozy little cabin that is perfect for a couple or a family with small children. The living room has a stacked stone fireplace with a queen sleeper sofa, it also has a 37 inch TV with DVD player. There is a Jurassic Park arcade game (set on free play) in the living room.

The bedroom has a queen size log bed, TV, dvd player and a Pac Man arcade with 60 additional games (galaga, dig dug, frogger, space invaders, etc). (All arcade games are set on free play!)

The kitchen is fully equipped with everything that you will need to prepare your meals, including a coffee maker, blender, toaster, etc.

On the large deck you have a swing, rockers, and a Jacuzzi Premium hot tub to relax and enjoy the amazing mountain views. This is a perfect place to take in the fresh air and amazing mountain views! The picture does not really show the view. The view is much better.

You are conveniently located between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. It is 2.5 miles from the last traffic light in Pigeon Forge, close to outlet shopping, Dollywood, Splash Country and the Great Smoky Mountains.

I now offer pool passes to use the Pigeon Forge Community Center. The pool is a very nice outdoor pool. It is seasonal.

This cabin is 400 square feet. It is a great cabin at a great price!

Good amenities, but needed serious cleaning

  • 3 of 5

-The amenities were fun. We enjoyed the air hockey as well as both the arcade games.

-We loved the "cabin" feel and decor, staying up in the mountains. Other "cabins" feel more like a condo.

-The Wi-fi worked well

-Considering other properties and hotels, the price was good.

-The cleanliness was severely lacking, and based on that alone I could not give this cabin more than 3 stars. I am not a clean freak by any means, but this cabin had dust bunnies and a noticeable layer of dust in every possible space. When we opened up the couch, we found an old sock, Cheetohs, and crumbs in the bed. We moved the chair to make more space and found a ton of popcorn under it. The cabin is in serious need of a good dusting, and housekeeping really needs to take more care when getting it ready. The ironic thing is that there is a note on the wall suggesting a housekeeping tip, which I found a bit crass to begin with considering you pay a cleaning fee.

-The "starter supply" of toilet paper was really ridiculous. We had less than one full roll to start, which meant that we had to go shopping that first day. The crazy thing is that I bought some for 22 cents a roll. At that price, I really think the owner should consider leaving a couple of extra rolls under the sink. There was also only one hand towel in the bathroom.

Other things to consider:

-I had to contact the owner with regards to final payment. She asked me to text or email her my CC#. I found this to be rather unprofessional and unsettling.

-The location was not bad. You have decent access to both Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. But we did not like the road halfway up to the cabin. It appears to turn into a one way road, but twice we ran across a car coming at us, and we had to use driveways to make it past each other. No fault of the owner, but something to consider.

-There is no garbage disposal. This made for a rather stinky trash can.

-The sofa bed is not very comfortable. We had to call for sheets, which were delivered with no problem. But a couple extra blankets would be nice for extra padding.

-There were no pool passes left for us. However, we didn't inform the owner as we did not intend to use them during our stay.

-The bedroom could really use a small side table for holding the remote, cell phone, etc.

Overall, our stay worked out OK, considering the kids really enjoyed the amenities. But we would choose elsewhere next time based on the cleanliness and other factors.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review of Bear Cub. We leave the roll of toilet paper that is on the holder and one extra per bathroom. We do only leave a starter supply of soaps and toilet paper for your stay. I was on vacation when you wanted to make your final payment. You wanted to make it that day because it was due. The only way that I could take it that day was for you to either call back in the evening or you send it by email. I don't like to take them like that, but you wanted to get it paid that day. I am sorry that you felt that it was unprofessional. I am the only one working and I would have gladly taken it the next day over the phone since you needed to use a different card. We do our best to keep things nice and everything in working order. I did notice some dust while I was in town and told the cleaner that the cabins needed to be deep cleaned. That cabin was clean but needed some extra attention to dusting and windows. I brought it to their attention and they took care of it after you checked out when there was an open day so that they could spend extra time in it.

Wonderful hideaway

  • 4 of 5

We came for 4 nights with our 4 yr old. He loved it and we loved the location. Great views from the jacuzzi! We used it every night. Bed was comfy. Very spacious for a 1 bd 1 bath. Husband and son loved the two arcade games.

Cons: large dog belonging to the trailer up the hill followed us everywhere. A bit scary. I walked around with my umbrella.

Cat also followed up everywhere too, tried to get in my car and in cabin.

Couldn't get fireplace to heat. Got it to turn on but doesn't heat.

Dishes and utensils were all dirty. I had to wash everything before using. Dried on food.

Cookware was awful. I went to family dollar and bought more. Even thru away the spatula that was so caked with food..I bought another to replace it.

Washer is very loud squeeking. May be about to go out.

Other than these cons it was fabulous! Jacuzzi was out favorite part :)

Thank you for the wonderful stay at Bear Cub. We enjoyed the gaming systems and hot tub. After reading the reviews, I was concerned about our family (2 adults, 2 kids, and 1 baby) staying there, but we were perfectly fine with the space. The owner was extremely accommodating and helpful with an issue we had that had nothing to do with the cabin itself. If I were to suggest anything, it would be perhaps better pots and pans and a chopping knife for the kitchen. Other than that we were totally pleased with the accommodations. To another reviewer's comment, the house up the drive did have several dogs and a cat, but our children actually loved having them around, although one of the dogs apparently took off with a shoe that was left on the porch when the gate was left open. I would just suggest keeping the porch gate closed to keep them out. Again, we had a fantastic stay, and I would definitely recommend this cabin!

Loved It!!!! Perfect for a smll family

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was great!!! Perfect for our little small family, my husband, myself and our two children (10 & 4), Owners and Maintenance couple are very friendly and quick to answer any call or need. The kids loved the Jurassic park game and us adults liked the older games from our childhoods lol kids also loved the hot tub, Mom and Dad didn't mind it either ;) Washer and Dryer are small but fast and for the laundry you do it's plenty. Bathroom is a Tub/Shower so my little ones liked that. As to the review I had read about the pull out couch being uncomfortable, they replaced it the night before we came and both my kids slept very good on it. We took our air bed but never needed it. We had a visitor each night, a HUGE raccoon, we suspect lives around there somewhere. He didn't bother us, just came to check out the porch and he would leave as soon as we stomped our foot. The only real complaint we had, and it's not the owners fault, was the house just above the cabin had two dogs, a big German Shepard and a little ankle biter that would come down and bark and growl at us anytime we were outside. The German even went towards my son growling but a white cat ran it off. Scared my son....... The only real suggestion I have is to add a place to hang clothes, there was a small spot in the kitchen mainly for keys we used. We had brought a lot of nicer clothes on hangers and there wasn't enough room for it.....We made it work. Again loved this place, area is very nice and not far from town but just right.

Great Little Cabin

  • 5 of 5

First I would like to say this cabin is small, but well worth the money. My girlfriend and I spent four nights here the first week in December. The hot tub worked great and the view from it was outstanding. The inside was nice and clean and cozy. The arcade games was a nice touch and the TV and wifi worked great. The owners were very receptive to any questions I had and offered to fix any minor issues we came across. The cabin is located about ten minutes off the highway and has beautiful views from the porch. Once to the highway you are just a few minutes to Pigeon Forge and about ten minutes to Gatlinburg, the location really couldn't be beat. I would recommend this cabin for couples or maybe a couple and one child, but more than that may be cramped.

Cute, and Cozy

  • 3 of 5

It was clean, but needed a few things. Cleaning detergent to maintain, skillet, bath mat, extra towels. Felt a little unnerved by the suggestion of a tip for keeping a clean cabin, but was required to pay a cleaning fee. Owner was very responsive with locating the wifi password, when requested. Only one bad note, the charcoal grill surface was recently painted and the surface of the paint recovered on our food cooked. The grill surface was an amatuer paint job was just for the look and not for the function.

The cabin is located in the Great Smoky Mountain area. It is in between the towns of Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. It is close to Dollywood, Splash Country, outlet shopping and many restaurants. There is so much to do in the area, you just can't see everything in one visit.

Other Activities: Shopping, Minature Golf, Snowboarding, Rock climbing
