This very large and lovely home is situated in the heart of Carmel by the Sea. It is within a very short walking distance to the beautiful white sand Carmel beach and beach chairs and towels are provided. It is also a short walking distance to Carmel's world-class restaurants, shopping and art galleries, as the main street of that district, Ocean Avenue, is just a few blocks away. The area has many festivals and the property is within walking distance to the famed Pebble Beach Golf Course where the famous AT&T Golf tournament is held annually, the Concours d'Elegance, Pebble Beach Food & Wine Festival and many more such events.
The home is also beautifully set up for entertaining. Plates and dishware are sufficient to serve more than 20 people as is the glassware. There are several serving plates for appetizers and an excellent array of wine, champagne, highball, martini and other drink glasses.
The home allows for maximum privacy as each bedroom is large, has separate walls and a separately enclosed bathroom. The loft, which can be used for extra sleeping accommodations is located above one of the bedrooms. This home is perfect for family gatherings, reunions, wedding parties, or couples just wanting the perfect getaway.
The roof deck has a recently-installed granite counter with seating for 8 overlooking Carmel Bay and 2 bar Height tables, each with seating for 4 to also take advantage of the great ocean view. It includes both a gas barbeque and a charcoal barbeque. The perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine and the beautiful sunset in the evening, after a day of shopping, sight seeing or enjoying the beach.

I am a professional woman who works and resides in the Central Valley of California. I have owned the home for a considerable period of time and have very much enjoyed the use of the home over the years. I am now in a position where I would like to rent it more than I have in the past.
Victoria Salisch purchased this house in 1984
We chose Carmel because it is one of the most beautiful spots in the world and only 2.5 hours from our primary residence. We love the beach and the wonderful restaurants, galleries, and shopping. It is also close to the famed Cannery Row in Monterey (5 minutes away)and there is always something to do in Carmel and the surrounding areas. If you just want a beautiful and quiet getaway, it also provides that.
This home feels like a retreat where one can really rejuvenate! It has been a wonderful place to just 'hang out' or in which to entertain friends--whether from the Carmel area or the area of our primary residence. My children, who are now adults, also dearly enjoy using the home. We have often had family get-togethers in the Carmel home-bringing folks together from several areas. Everyone is always more than happy to go to Carmel!
What a delight to stay in your lovely home. We had a wonderful time. Most comfortable for all 8 of us. Hope some day to do this again!
Our family celebrated a destination wedding in Carmel and this home was perfect! Within walking distance to beach, restaurants and shopping. There was plenty of room for everyone in bridal party and home was well stocked with everything. Gracious owner readily available for any questions. Views of ocean from roof top deck were amazing! Hope to revisit.
I have rented this wonderful home for the past several years during the ATT Pebble Beach golf tournament. My 3 grown sons each bring a friend as well as myself and a friend each year. Everything about the home, the beautiful location and dealing with the gracious owners has been absolutely fantastic. My kids have each told me how they get that special "vacation" feeling as the time nears each year. I look forward to our stay immensely also, a great time is always in store at this special and fully equipped home. You will Definately feel at home! 5 Stars from all of my Gang every year!
my experience is punctuated times 5 other adults all of whom enjoyed our 4 days sojourn at the lovely home the subject of this review.
Both my wife and myself met with the husband prior to taking occupancy for a walk thru as we are both licensed real estate brokers and familiar with the necessary highlights such a reasonable walk thru with reveal.
By all accounts the house was immaculate and when we left the home we were careful to go through the house my wife and myself to make sure it measured up to the standard in which we had found it ourselves..
I can't imagine anyone spending time there would not have benefited from that standard having been maintained.
We look forward to repeating that experience next year as well.
The owners were great to work with and provided us with so much more than we expected. The home is totally outfitted with everything that you could imagine. Each bedroom is huge with its own bath. We were 4 couples and the separation between the rooms worked well for us. Thanks for hosting us!
My family rented this house a couple of months ago for a few days. We wanted to take the kids on a mini vacation to where they were born before school started and took a chance by renting a home. It was the weekend of the Concourse, so most places in the area were filled. We decided to try VRBO for a rental by the sea. The home is pretty from the outside as are most of the homes in Carmel by the Sea. From the moment we walked in the front door there was a nasty, very moldy stench in the house. Having lived in the area I know that it can be damp so we proceeded to the rest of the house. The smell dissipated as we went further into the house and upstairs. We checked out the kitchen and opened the fridge to a horrible odor and having opened many fridges in my life, knew that this was not ok. Previous guests obviously had not paid attention to the owner's admonition to clear it out when leaving and it STANK! When we went into the laundry room to wash a few items we found moldy, wet, stinky towels in the washer! We left 2 days early because of the smelly conditions. We told the owner about these issues and she said she would investigate matters. We did not hear from her for weeks. During this time we did not receive our deposit back either.
The next contact we had with her was a LEGAL LETTER on her firm's letterhead totally disrespecting our comments about the house, saying that no one else has complained (she must rent to people without noses), and implied that we made these things up to try to get our money back for the two days, assuring us we would not, even though we did not ask for the return of the money! We were flabbergasted that she felt the need to write us a legal letter to send our deposit back. She acted like she was gearing up for a legal showdown! Bottom line: the house had a bad smell to it. We had guests who immediately detected the smell. My aunt went so far as to say she had never seen a refrigerator smell so bad. So, stay if you like, but remember, the owner is a lawyer and it seems she wants everyone to know it. There are too many other nice homes in the immediate area to stay with nice owners who would want to know if something was not right in the home and who would not "lawyer up" when someone voiced concerns.
We had a wonderful weekend at your home. There was plenty of room to relax & visit. The house is in a great location - we enjoyed walking to the beach & the restaurants with the little ones. It was a very memorable birthday! Thank you.
We are minutes away from Monterey, including Fisherman's Wharf, Cannery Row, the Aquarium, and its historic downtown buildings. Fishing and Whale Watching trips leave from the wharf several times per day.
You can walk to Pebble Beach Golf Course, whether for golf, or the many attractions such as the AT&T Pro-Am Golf Tournament, Concours d'Elegance, Pebble Beach Food & Wine Festival and many more such events. You can enter by car at the Carmel gate to the fabulous and famous 17-mile drive.
Pacific Grove, with its uniquely Victorian architecture, interesting restaurants, antique stores and other shopping is also only minutes away.
The famous Big Sur area begins about 27 miles south of Carmel on Highway One, and is an absolutely magnificent drive. The River Inn (first establishment you encounter) has free live dixieland jazz on Sundays in the summer. You can also visit famous restaurants further down such as Ventana and Nepenthe, both with fabulous views!
A drive into Carmel Valley, which is both warmer and sunnier than the coast, is a lovely side trip, with other unique restaurants, wineries and wine tasting. This is just a few miles off of Highway One.
