Why Danna Cotman chose Village of La Jolla

We love to meet new people and entertain. With the Studio being behind our home, it gives us an opportunity to help people enjoy their vacations that much more by interacting and offering suggestions for where to take a coastal walk, shop, eat, etc..

What makes this studio unique

Walking distance to La Jolla Cove and Wind n' Sea beaches where you can picnic and watch the sunset or jump in for a swim; many fabulous restaurants and shops in easy walking distance; quiet residential area.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We thoroughly enjoy our stay at the studio. It was lovely to be able to walk everywhere and enjoy the beautiful area. We'd love to say again next time we come to La Jolla.

Nice Modest Studio

  • 4 of 5

Quiet and clean sums it up. Reasonably priced for La

Jolla, so no complaints. Very nice and helpful owners made the

stay very pleasant. Certainly would recommend. Only thing stopping a 5 star review is the old furniture.

Splendid studio apartment in perfect La Jolla location!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed 3 nights and found it perfect for our purposes. Really, it couldn't have been better. An alcove off the large bedroom is the kitchen. The bathroom is roomy enough for 2 and has a terrific shower. It's airy and well ventilated with a multi-speed ceiling fan. Especially nice are the art items on the walls, which are both lovely and uniquely intriguing. The location in a quiet neighborhood is an easy walk from everything that's fun in La Jolla, from multiple beaches to restaurants to shopping. We enjoyed breakfasting at local highlights and lounging with tea at sidewalk cafes. The public bus system — we didn't rent a car — is inexpensive, clean and pleasant, easy to use, and goes everywhere. (We took the bus to visit several sites in San Diego.) The hosts are welcoming and helpful. We'll definitely return to this little gem!

Studio with full kitchen. In residential neighborhood, middle of LaJolla village. Owners live in adjacent house on property. But totally private. Outdoor area. Simple, all amenities, very comfortable. Walk to village and to coastal walk.

This is a terrific place. It is in a great location and the owners are very helpful. They were very accommodating, and they gave us great recommendations for places to eat. The studio is nicely appointed and it has everything we needed for the kitchen, bathroom etc.

Great La Jolla Village Location

  • 3 of 5

My wife and I stayed 7 nights in March 2017. The location of this studio is perfect, being on a quiet street only a short walk from shops, restaurants and the beautiful cove. La Jolla is a nice place to spend a vacation and we really enjoyed our stay. The studio had everything in it that we needed and whilst the furnishings are well worn everything worked well and we had a comfortable stay. The rental cost, considering the location, is far from expensive by La Jolla standards.

There were some disappointments which we raised with Danna and one of them (broken door lock) was replaced during our stay. Others are: The BBQ is old and beyond practical use as the base is completely rotted. Using it would have left an absolute mess on the floor. Danna offerred us the use of theirs but as it was a distance away and right next to their property we thought it could have be intrusive, so we decided against it. The vertical blinds covering the entire glass door/front of the studio are worn and broken leaving gaps in places. Some pieces kept falling from the track onto the floor. Our concern was that anyone passing (family living above who had no option but to pass) could easily see in especially at night and whilst we were dressing/sleeping. Finally; whilst the family above were very nice and probably as quiet as possible we could not help being woken at around 6am most mornings from the sound of them walking on the wooden floor directly above us; the sliding terrace door opening and closing and their footsteps when coming down the external wooden staircase next to the studio. Whilst the BBQ and blinds can easily be fixed we recognise that staying in a ground floor studio with people living above requires compromises and we accept those. I have tried to give a balanced and fair review based on our experience.

Owner's Response: We welcome feedback from guests and encourage each visitor to let us know how we can improve. The lock was working the day before so once we learned of the problem we took care of it. The BBQ works fine and is not that old - the issue was the drip pan outside under the burners was rusted. We are getting that fixed now that we are aware of it. We were perfectly fine with offering our BBQ which is approximately 20 feet from the other one. The blinds we've fixed and we are considering an alternative to those such as curtains which is a more long term solution and poses some other considerations. The upstairs internal tenant area above the studio is carpeted. Currently a mother and daughter live there and they are usually up and out early and are rarely around. We are grateful for our visitors and constructive comments and strive to maintain the place in a manner that ensures our current and future visitors have a pleasant stay.

Five Star Value

  • 5 of 5

Great location in a quiet residential part of La Jolla. Plenty of free parking right in front. Just a few blocks to a beautiful beach. Perfect for watching the sunset! A short walk into town for restaursnts, bars, shops, beaches, etc.

The studio unit was very clean and more than adequately stocked with towels, dishes, linens, etc. There is a family living in the apartment above and you can hear their footsteps overhead but we found them to be exceptionally quiet after 8pm and in the mornings. We spent most of the daylight hours outside enjoying the weather.

This place is not a new, fancy, or modern hotel but for the price and location it was great.
