Lake Front: The beach is a short walk (think the length of two football fields) or ride (park at top of stairs) to staircase leading to a large private dock, deck with a covered swing and 100' of private natural shale beachfront. There is a canoe available. The water is 6' deep at the end of the dock. Weed mats adjacent to the dock allow for a comfortable swim area for adults and children. There is a comfy porch swing at the shoreline. Nice to just sit and enjoy the view with a glass of wine and maybe a picnic lunch or keep and eye on the kids playing in the water. FREE NYS boat launch at Severne pt- 4 mi north of the house. ( however, boat can't be overnighted at dock as there is no boat lift for it-but ample boat/trailer parking by house in driveway )

Thank you for renting The Buttonwood. We really enjoyed having you share our beautiful area.
We bought the house 4 years ago and have made major improvements each year. This winter we are:
-remodeling the main bathroom
-installing a new deck surface.
-repainting the house interior.
-adding internet access.
Hope you have a great year.
Owen and Pat Marjama. Tar and Sammy too.

The Buttonwood House was FABULOUS! Words can not describe how wonderful everything was. A few girlfriends and myself decided to visit the Finger Lakes for a long weekend. The house was very accommodating. The view from the wrap-around deck was phenomenal. Everything about the house and location was wonderful! We are already trying to figure out when we can return.

The home was very nice/clean with a beautiful deck, view, and location! Would highly recommend this house to anyone that is interested in staying in the Finger Lakes.
Two things I would note which aren't complaints but more to be aware of: 1. To get to the lake is a pretty steep gravel drive and is a little bit of a walk which was no problem for my wife and I but my parents who are in their 70's had a very tough time getting down and back. 2. The 3rd bedroom upstairs are bunk beds on a small landing between 2nd bedroom and bathroom (just not super ideal for couples).
This is a beautiful vacation rental home on the west shore of Lake Seneca. Attention is paid to every detail in this impeccably clean and well appointed home. My wife and I woke up and drank coffee on the deck, taking in the beautiful view of the lake every morning. The central location, with easy drives to Watkins Glen and Geneva, along with plenty of harvest activities made this a memorable vacation for me and my family. The one extremely minor drawback was that the windows in the house seemed to be locked and we couldn't figure out how to open them. It would have been very refreshing to have them cracked open to enjoy the cool nighttime mountain air. All-in-all, this is a great home for families and would recommend it without reservation.
We had a wonderful time at this vacation rental. It was extremely clean and well kept! This property is everything the website described.
The Marjama's place is always immaculant. This is our fourth year of staying there and we plan on returning next year. Pat & Owen treat us very well.
nice place to stay. owner was quite nice. only issues is the 2 bedrooms upstairs are really a shared loft and the lake front is quite difficult to use for several reasons--the walk is more difficult than advertised and the beachfront area also has issues. The area along the shore is not particularly cleaned up and somewhat unsightly. The dock is very high above the water and the only ladder sit right above much water vegetation. There should be a ladder at the very least at the end of the dock where the weed mats are. Those are the reasons it only rates a 4 star.
Well cared for, very clean. Ideal for anyone that is allergy sensitive to dogs, cats, etc...which we were and no issues at all. Everything we expected and more. Would return in a heartbeat.
