About the property

Cottage, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2)

This Caribbean Guest Cottage features an Open Concept design with Queen Size Bed, Vaulted wood beam ceiling, and two patio door walkouts. One patio door leads to the screened in porch with separate entrance and outdoor relaxation. The other Patio Door leads to the barbecue/grill deck off the kitchen. The screened in porch has a view of Flowering Shrubs (Beauganvalie & Hibiscus), Palm Trees, Mahogany Trees & other Mature Trees to provide a shaded area to relax on the Hammick or put you feet up on the Ottoman while sitting in our South Beach Chairs in the garden.

The interior features vaulted caribbean wood beamed ceilings painted white, 12 x 12 Italian Porcelain Tiles throughout. Decorated by an interior designer for Optimum functionality. The Studio Bedroom has a Double Closet with a Queen Size Bed. We recently moved the half wall to the left 16" to make room on each side of the bed, to have a night stand. So it is no longer pushed against the half wall with the white shelving unit. We had the same tiles left over so it is finished to perfection. The TV Area has a Luxurious Stanley Day Bed with lots of Throw Pillows, An Ottoman & a trundle drawer underneath with 3 compartments for you clothes. Their is a High Quality Twin Mattress on the Day Bed and 26' Flat Screen TV with DVD player mounted over the Fridge in the Corner so that you can watch it from the bedroom area, the Daybed Area or while prepping in the kitchen. The Kitchen has white cabinets, gorgeous black, gold & silver granite countertop, undermount sink with a modern Moen Faucet with Sprayer, large fridge with freezer, stove with 4 burners, an oven & broiler, toaster oven, coffee maker, tea kettle, blender, microwave, pots and pans, cutlery, dishes, mugs and glasses.

White towels and linens provided.

Weber Spirit Barbecue with Cast Iron Skillet in the middle. Also propane tanks provided. There is also a full spare.

White Igloo Cooler, Fashionable Beach Towels for you to use on the property or in the rental car to the beach or just exploring. We recommend keeping you cooler full of water & gatorade at minimum, with a bag of ice, so you can keep hydrated all day long & save money. They sell 24 & 32 size water bottles at IGA & Gatorade in many different sizes. They also sell Beer, Coolers, Alcohol, Wine & Spirits at the IGA, just not on Sunday. I recommend the Wine Cellar Store in between the IGA and Sweet Escape for better prices on Beer, Alcohol, Wine & Spirits. There is also a TCI Island Brewery who make Turks Head Beer and sell it for approx $33 for a case of 24. They also sell Rum for approx $14 for a 26er. However, I prefer the local Bambarra Rum that they sell at the Wine Cellar & IGA. It has a really nice flavour and they use it to make the Island's Amazing Rum Cake. They have two different sizes and they make great gift idea's. You can purchase them at FOTTAC in the Regent Plaza, at the Wine Cellar or the Departure Lounge at the PLS Airport. They make an amazing Jerk Spice, West Indian Mustard & Guava Jam as well. They have a Gold Rum, Silver Rum, Reserve Rum & more.

We can arrange a Jeep or SUV Rental, Seadoo 3 seater PWC or a 21 foot Wahoo Centre Console Boat Rental Available at an additional cost!

There is a 2 Bedroom Villa on the property at an additional rate see VRBO # 271855 for details.

Thank YOU

About Kate & Joselyn

My family and I have been enjoying the good life in the Turks and Caicos Islands since 1986. We are avid Scuba Divers and water sports enthusiasts. You will love the Turks and Caicos. I feel completely safe driving around in the Jeep with the top down 24 hours a day. The Grocery Store has everything you will ever need and the Restaurants are 5 Star. The beaches are rated among the best in the world and ocean is beautiful and clean. Your feet will love our white sand beaches and your body will love floating in the Ocean. The high salt content makes it very buoyant. Soak up the sun and enjoy our incredible sunsets.

Kate & Joselyn purchased this cottage in 2008

Why Kate & Joselyn chose Providenciales - Provo

This is such a peaceful oasis! The canal is great for swimming and we love laying on the dock at night with a glass of wine and looking at the stars! The Canal leads to the south side of the island so we can park a boat at the dock. High elevation and nice tropical breeze. We love the architecture of the Wood Beamed Ceiling and Wrap around screened in Porch. We are in the Real Estate, Scuba Diving, Watersports and Hospitality Industries and love the location in central Provo, it is close to everything by car. Quick jot to airport, turtle cove marina, IGA, Grace Bay Beach, Nikki Beach in Leeward or Chalk Sound Sapidilla Bay Beach, Long Bay Beach, The Conch Shack Beach, or Malcolm Beach and so on. There is lots to see and do. We arrange airport transportation to the Villa where Wayne or Jocelyn will greet you and show you around the property. We will be happy to answer your questions prior to your arrival and during your stay.

What makes this cottage unique

Guestbook comments from the manager

This is a beautiful property. My friend and went to Provo for a girls weekend on Mother's Day 2009. We rented the guest cottage and a Jeep. We travelled all around the island exploring. We bought groceries at IGA. We went for dinner at Grace Bay Club Grill, Mango Reef, Coco Bistro, Hemingways, The Conch Shack on Thursday Night, "The Full Moon Party" at Horse Eyed Jacks on Saturday Night, Ricky's Beach Bar on Sunday for Hobie Cat Sailing. We went Scuba Diving at Ocean Vibes with Wayne, Brigit, Kevin and Meghan and Riquez. We saw a hammerhead shark off French Cay. Unbelievable! 3 Spotted Eagle Rays swimming in formation off the wall at North West Point. Oceanvibles for all your diving needs. Great lunch and drinks provided. They also pick up from the guest cottage or your hotel. They also own Reef Peepers Glass Bottom Boat and Eagle Parasail. We made many friends and plan to come back early January with family and friends. The guest cottage and property are absolutley amazing. Perfect for 2. We went kayaking in the canal, watched the stars at night. Very peaceful. We made our breakfasts and lunches, packed our cooler, beach towel and bikini's and we were gone all day. Came back for a shower and went out all night. We cooked Lobster Tails one night on the barbecue mmmmmm melt in your mouth. Then we had lobster sandwiches to go the next day. We rented a car from Rent A Buggy which is right at Turtle Cove Drive and the Leeward Highway. They dropped us off at the airport.

Perfect for a couple on a budget!

We had an amazing stay at the Sweet Escape Guest Cottage. Our experience started months before with Katherine (the property owner), who was incredibly accommodating and professional, and worked with us to get the cottage and Jeep rental squared away despite some complex circumstances. Once we got here, Josie (the property manager) made us feel welcome and gave us an overview of the island. This is a perfect location if you're renting a car. Grace Bay is minutes away (with abundant public parking and access), as is the grocery store. The water in the back of the property is a great place to spend an afternoon--quiet, private, and fun. We cooked dinner most nights, which was very easy to do with the kitchen supplies provided as well as the propane grill on the front deck. The living space is well appointed, clean, and comfortable. Even though it feels close to the main house, the cottage is very private and you don't really notice the other occupants (if they're there). Katherine and Josie go above and beyond to make sure that you feel comfortable and safe on this property. We had an excellent stay and hope to come back sometime soon!

We spent 8 days at Sweet Escapes Feb 7 to 15, 2017 in the cottage or Casita. It was very comfortable for two travelling. One on the day bed the other in the queen. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, dishes and we loved the BBQ on the the back. Jocelyn met us on the first day and had the list of food I had asked for prior to arriving. It was nice to unwind after a days travel with food in the fridge. She also spent time going over all the amenities of Sweet Escapes and gave us a cell phone to use while we where there. We just had to top up at the local FLOW counter at the IGA.

The canal is a great place to swim and we did almost daily. We kayaked the canal many times as well. The location is also perfect, sort of in the middle of everything. Close to the IGA and beaches. We rented a car for the duration and it was well worth it. If you don't have a car, Taxi's are costly. Driving is OK too just have to remember that its left hand drive, right side wheel!!......With the car we had the opportunity to hit all the beaches on the Island and found a little piece of Heaven at Cooper Jack Bay Beach the closest to the Sweet Escapes. Super easy to find and only about 10 minutes away. Very secluded and we where often the only folks there. Be careful when you are entering into the driveway at Sweet Escapes, the concert gate guard or speed bump is really high and the rental cars are low to the ground. You will scrape the bottom of the car if you don't hit it at the right angle!.....

We found that dining out was not an option as it is very expensive, so buying groceries

( which are expensive as well) and having all the utensils and BBQ at the cottage to cook was a bonus!!.

Sweet Escapes provide a cooler, lawn chairs and umbrella so we prepared picnics and went on beach adventures daily.

Over all was a wonderful place to stay and highly recommended.......only issue was the info book provided to guests should be updated as some of the roads are now paved and the book says "turn right at the second gravel road" not a big deal it just added to the road adventures daily!....again not a big deal but two toilet paper rolls and one roll of paper towels are not enough for 8 days.......perhaps provide more of each under the bathroom sink for guests or mention that you need to buy your own before you find yourself....stuck without it....

Owner's Response: Dear Nancy - I think that was a nice touch, having the groceries in the fridge for you. We are going to offer that service to all our guests from now on. It was a pleasure communicating with you from the time you made your reservation thru to now. The weber bbq grill's are very nice and I am so happy you put them to good use, as well as the cooler. We all have our preferences on where to spend money when on vacation and having a cooler to pack a picnic, while you explore the island, sit at the dock even, relax at a beach or on a boat trip. Having water or gatorade on hand is important here. I love grilling everything from a marinated steak to a Caribbean Lobster Tail on these grills. We also have a 2nd tank, should the first run out. I am so happy you both made use of the kayaks and enjoyed swimming in the canal. It is nice to be able to jump in the ocean right here at your very own dock or while kayaking. Sunscreen is a must here, I should mention to those reading this review. You will get a tan even when wearing 50 to 70 spf and when on the water a hat is recommended. We do normally leave at least 6 rolls in each bathroom for the week. I spoke to Josie and she asked me to apologize to you. Now she knows and she is such a wonderful person, she loves all of our guests and is very professional. We would like to offer you a $100's off your next stay at Sweet Escape. We do this for all repeat guests. Cheers, Katherine

Cute Cottage

  • 4 of 5

The cottage was perfect for 2 people. There was a bit of an ant problem but I have a feeling that is a constant battle for everyone on the island. It was in a very quiet and seemingly safe part of the island.

Both the owner and Jocelyn were very responsive via email and phone.

We saved a lot of money because of the items that we could use in the shed ; coolers, snorkeling gear, umbrellas, frisbees etc.

We took the kayak out in the canal and out to the ocean. It was such a great time!

Would definitely recommend this cottage!

Owner's Response: Dear Christen & James - Thank you for taking a minute to write this lovely review. We are so happy that you loved the cottage and made use of the watersports & rental supplies provided so our guests can save money, while still enjoying all the beauty the Turks & Caicos Islands have to offer. Occasionally, ants come inside. They are very tiny. If it is very dry and then there is a heavy rain, they go for higher ground. If you had of mentioned it, we would of come in and put down drops around the base of the Kitchen Cabinets all the way to the point of entry. That, along with ensuring food is stored in the fridge and dishes get rinsed or washed right away helps alot. Ants love sugar so if we can keep the counters wiped up, change the garbage bag, and they are gone. We look forward to seeing you again & would like to offer you a $100 Discount toward your next stay. Every repeat guests gets this discount. Cheers, Katherine, Joselyn & The Sweet Escape Team

Great central base camp to visit Provo

  • 5 of 5

Great communication and support. So many inclusions (bikes, snorkling gear, beach chairs, cooler, ombrella, local cellphone, beach mats...). Very welcoming experience and affordable experience on the island, even more if compared with any "beachfront" villa.

We totally felt like it was our own cottage, nothing is missing. Its also greatly appreciated that they provide a island cellphone and that someone is alway reachable for any questions or recommandation. We felt secure and confident and not "left alone on the island".

If you want to see around, you have to get a car anyway, even if you rent a beachfront unit at 20x the cost. Driving in provo is safe and as the island is small, you can (and will want to) see it all. This cottage/villa is centraly located, so you can get ANYWHERE within 15 min or less.

Food is good everywhere on the island, but restaurants are on the expensive side. Our meal routine was: 1) breakfast at the cottage, 2) for lunch: high end sandwiches, salads and wraps to go from Graceway Gourmet (thanks for the supplied cooler and ice packs!), 3) dinner most of the time at the cottage (new Weber BBQ at your door, and full kitchen inside). Good and affordable food. Beaches are incredible, it's great to just reach in the cooler, open a beer and grab a sandwich right there in your own cooler. No need to leave the beach and wait an hour to get lunch in a restaurant.

We would totally go again, next time with the whole familly in both the villa and cottage :-)

Cheers !

Owner's Response: Dear Danny T & Co. Thank you for taking the time to write such a thoughtful review. It means so much to Joselyn & I to hear from our guests. You touched on alot of points that most other guests would find very helpful when making a decision on where to stay. I am so happy that this was the right fit for you and we look forward to sharing our Villa & Guest Cottage to your family one day & ensuring they love it just as much as you did. When we started coming to the island in 1998, my aunt & uncle owned a very nice but small one bedroom condo with a king bed. It was in a great location 500 metres beach from Grace Bay Beach near the Seven Stars (then it was an Allegro), It was very expensive $2400 plus tax for the week and they slept in their bedroom and we had to sleep on a double pullo out wicker sofa bed in the living room. Of course, we were happy because we were on this beautiful island. Then next time we rented our own unit for $2400 a week plus tax and our kids slept on the sofa bed. There was only 1 Jeep Wrangler for rent on the entire island. It was a bright yellow stick shift with no doors or soft top. You needed a 4 x 4 back then to explore off the beaton path. It was $600 to rent it for the week. We had so much fun touring the island. Next we wanted to rent a boat, as we had grown up spending time at our cottages on lakes in Canada. No one would rent us a boat. We found a Seadoo Company but we had to pay for a guide to come with us so we didnt bother. So when the time was right for us to start buying Real Estate in Providenciales after exploring the island for 10 years we knew exactly what people in our age group were looking for in an Island Vacation. Thus, every year we add more Complimentary Watersports Equipment. We love to barbecue and most condo's do not let you have a barbecue grill near the condo's. You have to walk to a place where everyone shares, which is better than nothing of course. Also, we know it costs alot of money to dock your boat at a Marina or Shipyard. Thus, having a Waterfront Lot with a Dock was another money saver. With 75 feet of waterfront and room for a 35 foot boat that saves $35 a night at the marina or more. There is shore power & a shower, chaise loungers, palm trees, a bose iPod sound dock for music, rope lighting at night. The Ocean Kayaks & Stand Up Paddle Boards are easy to access from the floating seadoo dock which rises and up and down with the fluctuating 3 foot tide. Everything we buy is of the best quality.

Loved it !

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I have never stayed two weeks for a vacation. We stayed in the cottage and it was great. Didn't take long to get into relaxation mode! Cottage is perfect for two and every evening we enjoyed sitting in the screened porch with candles reflecting on what we DIDN'T do all day :)

Everything provided was appreciated - from the spices, soaps, blender, towels, beach chairs etc etc. See the rental description for what all is included.

Some things that may help other renters - We shopped some at Grace Bay IGA but the prices were way better at Price Club and Quality Market. You can save on Turks Head Beer - $34 a case if you go right to the brewery located on the Industrial Road inside the TCI Water Depot - there is no sign for the brewery. Find the beach you love the best - for us that was Sapodilla Bay. There is also another public entrance before the main one by La Brisas Restaurant. It is by the large white villas (can't remember the name) and was closer to walk to with the chairs.

Thank you to Katherine and Jose for making this a very memorable stay for us. Diane and Ed

Owner's Response: Dear Diane & Ed......Thank you both for taking the time to reflect on your vacation in Paradise and your stay at Sweet Escape. The boys & I thoroughly enjoy talking with both & hearing about your adventures. Logan said, "they are really cool people Mom, I like them." I said to him "you are absolutely correct Logan." He is a social butterfly at the age of 12. We could see your happiness in your eyes and hearing how much you were enjoying yourself and the peacefulness at the Cottage. We look forward to meeting you again one day. All the best from Katherine, Brock & Logan & Joselyn, Dottie & Mary Cris.

Wonderful vacation cottage.

  • 5 of 5

Other guest reviews helped us make the decision to stay 4 weeks in Feb, at the cottage. We made the correct decision. The cottage was perfect for our vacation needs. It's not luxurious. You want luxurious?... stay at an all inclusive. The cottage was spotlessly clean. The bed was so comfortable...everything we needed was where...the setting was peaceful and picturesque.

Josie met us at the cottage. What a very pleasant girl she is. She gave us the grand tour and explained some things of the island. Any minor problems we had, Josie took care of them immediately, and with a smile.

The beach chairs were an added bonus. Beach chairs are not available at any of the beaches, unless you are a resident of a resort. The location of the cottage is actually quite ideal. We like to visit different beaches , and Sweet Escape is perfectly located to do that. On that point....a car is a must. There is no bus service on the island, and taxis are quite expensive.

All in all , Sweet Escape cottage is ideal if you want a quiet, relaxing, vacation.

I highly recommend the cottage for a couple wishing a comfortable vacation place to stay.

Owner's Response: Dear Sandy & Sheila......Thank you for taking time to reflect on your stay at Sweet Escape Guest Cottage. As the owner, it is important to me to ensure that our guests have a very comfortable, peaceful & joyous vacation. The island is naturally beautiful and thus we provide many extras for our guests such as Ocean Kayaks with cushioned seats and paddles, Stand Up Paddle Boards with Paddles, a Zayak, A Water Hammick & Water Trampoline, RIO Folding Beach Chairs in Stylish Colours with cup holder, a zipper sleeve to store you money, keys, medication, water, etc. We replaces our Snorkel equipment Annually to ensure it is in good condition for our guests with adjustable straps on the fins, and adjustable straps on the mask, the Zayak is also used for Snorkelling - Google Zayak if you are not sure what it is used for. Basically a Zayak is a long flutter board with a glass bottom and a viewing area for your face that is sealed around your face comfortably, it allows you to have a wider view than a snorkelling mask and it does not fog up. It helps you float. it has two black handles to put your hand on, one on the left side of your face the other on the right side of your face. Simply lay on it and kick. Lean to the right to steer right anad left to steer left. We have 6 Trek Bikes with keyed bike locks, helmets, lights and some with a basket on the handle Bars. 3 are Royal Blue, 3 are orange and one is silter. We also have a black and orange youth mountain bike. There is a couple of baseball gloves with baseballs, a football to throw around, a frisbree, a few fishing rods, a soccer ball and bucket with childrens beach toys. We have enjoyed entertaining our children at our vacation homes, they have inspired us which required us to be sure we covered all the bases. There is a volleyball net on the property which can be used for beach volleyball or badminton. 3 Double Hammicks with a Cushioned Fabric - we throw beach towels on the Hammick to have a cozy mid day siesta). There is a dockside patio with 2 blue and white lounge chairs and 2 south beach chairs. Outside the guest cottage there are 4 south beach chairs with cushions, a Weber Grill. Inside we have left a deck of cards and a backgammon game, good quality wi-fi and cable tv. This is a great place to relax and the perfect location to make your home base. I provide our guests with an Island Guide (Guest Directory containg info on where to find things in the cottage, on the property and around the island). Thx.

We have recently replaced the Love Seat with an amazing Stanley O/S Day Bed in White Wood. It has a twin mattress & a trundle drawer in the bottom which can also be swapped out for a 2nd Twin Mattress. We moved the 1/2 wall with bookshelves left 18", added a new nightstand on each side of the bed. We moved the TV over the Fridge with an adjustable arm so you can watch TV from either the Queen Bed, Day Bed or kitchen.
Air Conditioning is metered, based on usage. However, we have included the 1st $35 per week in the Rate you Pay to confirm your reservation. We read the meter before & after your stay. If you go over by $5 we not charge you for the overage of AC. We have never had to charge anyone for the overage. The Cottage is well built and insulated, plus the $35 is the average we have recorded. I personally find turning the ac on, plus turning the fans on, helps me fall into a much deeper sleep.
