Summer & Fall: In summer, it is the perfect place to spend a family vacation. There is fishing, swimming, kayaking and boating right in the back yard. You can relax on the deck or down at the lake in the sun any time of day. The yard is large and slopes down to the lake where the water is shallow and safe for children to wade. The lake is stocked with fish - perch, bass, and trout. Two kayaks and a canoe are available for you to explore Lake Rescue. In the fall, the foliage is spectacular. It is also a great place to enjoy a hike in the surrounding woods or antiquing in neighboring towns. For the golf enthusiast, the beautiful and recently renovated and expanded 18-hole Okemo Valley/Fox Run Golf course is 2 miles away.
Winter/Ski: The world class Okemo Mountain & Jackson Gore Resort is 3 miles away, and the Killington and Pico Resort is 18 miles for skiing, snowboarding and snow tubing. Lake Rescue usually has excellent conditions for cross-country skiing and the scenery is always beautiful. A full loop of the lake is approximately four miles. If you tire of exploring Lake Rescue, Echo Lake and Amherst Lake are easy to reach via interconnecting trails. Nearby Okemo Valley/Fox Run Cross Country Ski Center has extensive groomed trails for classical or skating skiers. Ice fisherman love the lakes, and when the conditions are right, the ice skating is also good. Snowmobiles can utilize the lakes and the nearby access to all the interconnecting ski trails that Vermont offers (one-fourth mile from Lake Rescue). In addition, our sloped yard is a perfect place for smaller children to sled.
Great place to stay, clean and comfortable and great location to Okemo mountain for skiing. The place is well stocked with everything you need for a great gataway. The owners were very cooperative and all the info we needed was very available on a timely basis. We would stay again and maybe try a summer stay for the many summer activities the area has to offer.
The home was well appointed, very clean, and comfortable. Great location and easy access to downtown Ludlow and Okemo (where we skied)!
Homeowners were very responsive, communicative, and all around helpful...big thumbs up for this rental experience!
Our family had a great ski vacation at Mac's Lake House. It's location is very close to Okemo and an easy drive to Killington. The house was comfortable and clean, and had ample supplies of everything we needed. I had to contact Rob with a couple of questions after we arrived and he was extremely responsive and helpful.
Just wanted to correct my review from earlier. Bath towels are provided upon arrival and there are actually two per bedroom. I meant that there were no hand towels for the bathrooms which is a very minor issue. Again, I highly recommend this place!
My family and I stayed here this past Holiday season for 5 nights. This is a nice, cozy home on a lake. We skied at Okemo and it is a 3-4 minute drive. Staying slope side is very expensive and this place is almost slope side. The fireplace warms the whole house up and the beds were very nice and cozy. Our kids loved the bunk room which has room for 4 children. The owners were very responsive and professional, and great to work with. The place is perfect for a family of 4-5. Very warm, clean and the location cannot be beat. My only wish was that there were bath towels in the house. We managed. This house would be great in the summer as the backyard meets the lake. Even my children said it would be so much fun to visit in the summer, which we are thinking about. Overall, this house is a wonderful option if you want to ski at Okemo, and not pay the huge prices for on-hill lodging. We will most likely visit again! Thank you!
Tidy home on lakefront was the perfect location for our family get way. Well appointed with canoe, kayaks, life jackets (for kids and adults), gas grill, and fire pit.
Owner was responsive and thorough. Couldn't have asked for better.
Also, home was truly pet free (pretty important to my animal allergy ridden family.) Thanks for a great weekend my inlaws will always remember.
