Buena Vista Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 4 Bedrooms, 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 11)

Come visit The Cabin at Trout Creek, our newly constructed cabin which opened April, 2010. Set on 3 1/2 acres with over a million acres of San Isabel National Forest out the front door, this 3000 ft2 cabin offers its guests peace and seclusion yet easy access to nearly unlimited outdoor activities only minutes away. With views in every direction, the cabin has been designed to match the beauty of the creation that surrounds it.

The decor is rustic, yet beautiful, with a distinct mountain feel. Down to the smallest detail, much thought has been given to create an ideal setting for a family vacation or small group getaway. From luxurious towels to fun, built in bunk beds the kids will love, you will find the cabin has everything you need and so much more. Enjoy a peaceful cup of coffee on our 600 ft2 deck or use one of the bikes on the property to explore the nearby biking trails. After a day of activity, come back and enjoy a board game in front of the stone gas fireplace, read a book in the loft, or choose to watch a HD movie from our huge selection of DVDs. The cabin is intentionally designed to be big enough to vacation with Grandma and Grandpa or another family, yet not too big if you are a small family on a summer getaway.

If you want to get out and explore the area, you will find there are more things to do than you have time for! Buena Vista is home to the Arkansas River, providing world-class whitewater rafting and fly fishing. It also hosts the largest concentration of 14,000+ foot mountains in Colorado, offering spectacular scenery and endless outdoor activity. The lively town of Buena Vista is only 15 minutes away and offers many activities, restaurants, and shops.

About Judy Halmrast

Although Minnesota is our first home, we have found that our hearts have been drawn to the openness and beauty of the Colorado Rockies over the years. To build and own a cabin in one of the most beautiful places on earth truly is a blessing--a blessing we want to share with others, as well. So much of who we are--our personalities, values, priorities--are reflected in this cabin. Our goal has been to create a place that not only provides peace and relaxation, but that inspires its guests to connect with family and friends, with God and His creation.

Judy Halmrast purchased this cabin in 2010

Why Judy Halmrast chose South Central Colorado

The area in and around Buena Vista is amazing--the scenery is spectacular and the activities available are virtually unlimited. Our cabin is only 15 minutes from town which allows easy access to restaurants and shopping, yet offers us the quiet and beauty of a mountain getaway that is so important to us.

What makes this cabin unique

As we built this cabin, we have been very intentional about everything from the location of the land purchased to the smallest detail in decorating each room. For both us and our guests we want the cabin to be a place that has everything we need to either tuck in for a few days without driving anywhere or be a homebase for an activity filled vacation. Rest, beauty, refreshment--that's what we find at the cabin. We hope that you will to.

Beautiful home! Beautiful views!

  • 5 of 5

We loved this beautiful home with scenic views and plenty of room for our large group. The location was perfect for everyone. My sister and her group were able to complete 5 of the 14'rs. And there were plenty of local and day trips for the rest of us. We didn't get done, though, so we are re-booking for next summer!

Awesome cabin - great value!

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was an excellent place for my family to spend our spring break! It is both beautiful and functional - the views are wonderful, the decor is stylish and the intelligent layout is roomy. We had everything we needed for a week of escape, including comfy furniture and well-stocked cabinets of supplies, books and games. I was impressed with the cabin's overall condition as well as the care the owners took to make it an inviting and memorable place to stay.

Spring Break in the Mountains!

  • 4 of 5

This cabin retreat was clean, beautiful and large enough for our family of nine. My husband and I made the finished-out basement our retreat, while our son and his wife took the bedroom on the main floor, which had a queen sized bed. Our two boys shared a room on the upper floor (three twin beds and two "hideout" cubbies), while the three girls took the other upstairs room (two twins and a bunkbed with privacy curtains for late night reading). There's a living area on every floor. The kitchen was large enough for cooking family dinners every night (had everything we needed in pots, pans, etc). And the table was large enough for all of us to gather around. We enjoyed playing the games at the house in the main living room, yet also enjoyed reading by the fireplace and looking out the large windows to view the mountains. The boys enjoyed the big screen tv downstairs and large couches to watch March Madness.

The cabin is close enough to Monarch for skiing and Buena Vista has a store for all of your shopping needs. We even ventured into Breckenridge one day for dog-sledding (Good Times) and drove to the Springs to see the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo (watched the bears swim and try to catch fish) and ate amazing barbecue at Rudy's. This is a beautiful area of Colorado and the cabin did not disappoint.

The only negatives to this retreat is that none of the bathrooms are en-suite and if you're staying for a week, you have to haul the trash to a nearby neighborhood. Otherwise, it was a wonderful place to call home for a week. The owners were very kind and answered questions promptly. We would definitely stay here again.

Great family vacation

  • 5 of 5

My family (including grandkids) had a great vacation in this beautiful cabin high up in the Rocky Mountains (nearly 10,000 feet) overlooking a vast expanse of snow covered fields and mountains. Our vacation at the Cabin at Trout Creek ranks among the very best we have had. We enjoyed the area around the cabin as well as snowmobiling near Monarch Ski Resort (1hr away), sledding and tubing in Leadville (1hr away), hot drinks at City on the Hill coffee shop in Leadville, and great food at Pizza Works in Buena Vista (30 minutes away).

The cabin was spacious, modern, clean, and had a great floor plan for nine of us to share for a week. Even though the temperatures were well below zero at night, the cabin was cozy and warm. Roads to the cabin were plowed, owner and caretaker were responsive. Internet was very slow and mobile calls were "iffy".

We would love to return sometime!
